Eilonwy laughed, at first thinking Mason was joking, but when he looked serious she stopped and nodded, still biting her lip to hide a smile, though. “Right. Got it. Of course I’ll be there, silly.” She reached out to ruffle his hair gently. “I won’t miss your birthday! Do you know what you want for a gift? I could probably think of something pretty good, but I’d rather get you something you actually want as opposed to something I think you need. It’s good to get things you need, of course, but birthdays are specially and you’re allowed to ask for something you just want but don’t necessarily need, I think.”

“I kind of want an EMF detector” okay, maybe it was more than a kind of want and was just a regular want. “It’s for ghost hunting” he added, just incase Eilonwy wasn’t sure what it was or was for. “There’s only so much you can do with just a camera and night vision mode”

Eilonwy took the sample spoon from him to dip into one of the tubs herself. “No singular problem? So that means there’s a lot of problems? What are all these problems? Because from where I’m sitting I think the two of you would be really cute together, if you like her and she likes you. I don’t see any problems.” She shook her head, eating the ice cream off her sample spoon.

“Well, first of all I don’t even know if she likes me like that.” he shook his head, grabbing another sample spoon to dip into a different tub this time. “Second, I wouldn’t say a lot of problems, just more than one.” Eilonwy didn’t need to know that he’d made a detailed list of all of them. “Oh umm me and my sister are having a party next month. For our birthday. We haven’t made up the invitations yet, but you should come. Also you actually have to respond to the invitation. I know most people just show up to these things if they’re invited, but if you don’t respond and aren’t on the confirmed list Grunkle Stan will charge you an entry fee, no refunds.”

“Aw, thanks,” Eilonwy said with a grin when Mason said she was cute. “I think you’re cute too,” she said, reaching over to pinch his cheek gently. “Don’t think I didn’t notice that you said the house isn’t the problem, meaning there is a problem that isn’t just the house. So what is it?” She peered closely at him. “Come on, Mason, you found out everything about my love life with Taran. You have to tell me about your love life with Jenny.”

“that’s because your love life with Taran was transparent. Like, bird flying into a window transparent” he shook his head as he put the sample spoon in his mouth to get the ice cream off. “want some?” he asked grabbing one of the other sample spoons. “the problem is there is no singular problem. No THE problem”

“Why doesn’t that mean anything?” Eilonwy asked, wondering if she really had read the situation wrong. But no, she hadn’t. She was (nearly) always right! So she had to be right about this. “Is the house the problem? A girl isn’t her house, you know.”

“Well cause thinking someone’s cute doesn’t mean you like them. I mean, you’re cute, it’s just kind of a fact, but I don’t like you that” he moved to grab one of the sample spoons to dip into the purple-ish colored ice cream. “and yeah I know she isn’t her house. The house isn’t the problem. I mean, it is a problem, but that problem has nothing to do with Jenny”

“So you met in the middle? Aww. And that’s really sweet of you to make her grilled cheese,” Eilonwy said with a grin. She nudged him gently. “I know what she looks like, you know. You really don’t think she’s cute? I think she’s pretty cute.”

“Yeah, well it’s not right for someone to have never experienced one before. It’s kind of sad actually” his face fell for a moment at the thought. “Maybe she’s cute, but that still doesn’t mean anything”

“Wait, wait, you mean Jenny Foxworth? Isn’t that the girl you went to the festival with? Now you’re having grilled cheese over at her house?” Eilonwy gave Mason a pointed look. “In a Romeo and Juliet like scenario?” That’s how she was imagining the whole ‘inside/outside’ thing working. “Something tells me there’s more going on here …” She tapped her chin, hoping she wasn’t just reading into things, because she wanted to be right and get to tease him about his love life for a change.

“and what about it? She’d never had a real grilled cheese before, just one with a whole bunch of fancy sounding stuff involved.” Dipper shook his head a little when she asked about it being like a Romeo and Juliet scenario, “No, more like a she stayed inside cause she doesn’t want to leave her house and I was outside because her house makes me nervous”

“You weren’t even in the same room? How does that work?” Eilonwy asked with a laugh, releasing him and taking a step back with a shake of her head. “You still haven’t told me who it is or what they’re like, by the way. Don’t think I didn’t notice and that I won’t pester you until you tell me.”

“I was outside and she was inside, that’s how that works” he said, feeling like he didn’t need to explain any further than that. “Her name is Jenny and she goes to school with me...or did...I mean school is over, and also she didn’t really go the last couple of weeks...months? of school, so she goes to my school, but she doesn’t go to my school”

Mason!” Eilonwy grabbed his shoulders and shook him gently. “You know everything about my love life, despite me trying to keep you out of it.” She shook her head. “You have to tell me everything. Who is this girl? Or is it a guy? It’s fine if it’s a guy, you know. But tell me about them. Are you going to see them again? What are they like? Do you like them?”

“It wasn’t a date” Dipper said quickly as Eilonwy shook him by the shoulders “We’re just friends and all we did was eat grilled cheese sandwiches. We weren’t even in the same room together. Besides, I don’t have a love life, unless you mean me and the paranormal and unknown. So, there’s nothing to tell you about.”

Posey was sitting just out of the bookstore in a little park with her phone on Netflix, she was finishing one of James Cameron’s classics; ‘The Titanic’ when she turned to the person beside her pulling out a ear bud asking softly the question that was probably on every one’s lips; “D-Do you think J-Jack could of fit on the d-door? Because l-logically speaking h-he could but J-James Cameron says h-he was always m-meant to die and that it w-was an act of love-… b-but does that make it r-right?” it had been a question that plagued her every time she watched this romantic movie.

“Huh?” Dipper asked, looking over from his laptop where he was currently working on the latest blog post. “Oh umm maybe” he started as he finally registered what the woman next to him had been talking about. “Well, I guess theoretically it kind of depends. Like, would the door support the full weight of both Jack and Rose? Probably not. Could it support both of their upper body weight? Possibly, but then both of them would have to be okay with the probability that they could lose their legs by doing so. There’s also the popular idea that they could have taken turns. All those still have the possibility of at least one of them still dying. As far as whether or not him dying and it being considered an act of love, I suppose that could depend on who you ask? Like, if you could ask Jack would he say it was the right thing to do?”

“Oh, um, I guess we can go on go,” Jenny said after a moment’s thought. “That makes more sense, right? Or at least there’s no confusion that way. But yes okay. Ready? One. Two. Three. GO!” She took a bite out of the second half of her sandwich, pulling it outward to make the string of cheese stretch out, trying not to go too fast so that it broke too soon, trying to get it as long as she could.

With the ready to queue them up he counted along with Jenny, and on the “GO!” he sank his teeth and started to pull. He had done this so many times he knew just how fast to pull the sandwich out from his face. As well as how hard to pull, which was very crucial in keeping the cheese from breaking. “I don’t think I can stretch my arm any more” he said through his teeth.
