i dont think house would ever actually try to kill himself

tw for discussion of suicide, minor mention of drug od, and spoilers for the end of hmd,,

a lot of people theorize or write about house being suicidal or attempting suicide and say that house probably would've killed himself after wilson died. i disagree with this, though.

house is an atheist, he views life as the only thing that exists. he firmly believes that there is nothing once he is dead. he's miserable, hates himself, and deals with pain everyday but still thinks dying would be worse than that.

in s5e2, he says "If he thought like me, he would have known that living in misery sucks marginally less than dying in it." if you don't recall, this is him reacting to a man who tried killing himself because he has severe chronic pain. house related to that and was aware that the guy had even worse pain than he did, but still thought that living like that is better than dying. house doesn't view death as the ending of pain but the ending of life itself and, to him, that is worse.

he does technically attempt to "kill" himself in the show but neither of these were actual suicide attempts imo. the one in season three was him going overboard with pain meds. obviously he'd know how much would actually kill him and if he really wanted to kill himself he'd have been able to. and putting the fork in the electrical outlet obviously wasn't an attempt, he just wanted to know what it was like when your body was technically dead.

he says, "Life is pain! I wake up every morning in pain! Work is pain! You know how many times I just wanted to give up?" house has considered suicide but there isn't much that would actually drive him to it. pain isn't something that would drive him to it which is made very clear. people say that wilson's death would drive him to suicide but i disagree. i think he would've been greatly affected but he would still move on, it isn't like he hasn't dealt with death before. he'd be even more miserable than before but he wouldn't kill himself. honestly i think he'd have just turned himself in after wilson had died and found a way to go back to medicine. or perhaps flee the country and go somewhere remote where he can still be a doctor. but i doubt he would actually kill himself.

based off this interaction,

Wilson: "Heart attack, stroke, seizure, death... or worse." House: "Worse? Double-death?" Wilson: "You live but you damage the only thing you care about. Your rational mind."

i feel that truly the only thing that would drive house to suicide is losing his mind. he literally cannot function without solving puzzles, and we clearly see in the later episodes of season five how the mystery of kutner's death and house believing he "lost his mojo" was something affecting him greatly. as long as he has his intelligence he doesn't care how miserable he is. he'd rather have the pain in his leg than lose his brain, which is clearly shown by s5e16

as much as the idea of house committing suicide because of wilson being dead makes my little hilson heart happy, it isn't very realistic to his actual character.

just saw an angel number. 555 specifically which is crazy accurate to my situation rn. i asked for a sign just a few hours ago and the universe delivered <3

ive been doubting my abilities of manifestation, particularly because ive been using loa to shift and was feeling hopeless. 555 is all about going beyond your comfort zone and signifies that "transformation is coming." like quite literally the exact message i needed to hear 😭

ive also read that 555 can mean you need to trust your own insticts which is another thing ive struggled with. i find myself constantly consuming media related to shifting despite knowing i already have all the information i need. bad habit! but i have been working on it

i seriously <3 my spirit guides so much they always know exactly what it is i need to hear and reassure all my doubts (even though i have those constantly...im sure they tired of my bs)

my dr girlfriend

she works as a highschool art teacher and also enjoys sewing as a hobby (she diys a lot of her clothes and makes stuff for me). when neither of us are working we like to go out to clubs or just to walk around the city. we don't live together yet but she often comes to my house or i go to hers :)

she also plays guitar and flute, since i play piano and sing we like to cover songs together and have even created a few of our own songs ★
