One of the funniest things about the Barbara and Tessa rivalry is that while Barbara hates Tessa, Barbra's parents Elmor and Victoria (Tessa's Step-Grandparents) adore Tessa.
In there eyes they now have the granddaughter they always wanted since there daughter cant have kids.

Barbara and Tessa mutually dont like eachother. Like at all.
They have one of those relationships where everyone can feel the tension. They don’t openly fight all the time, but there’s always a sharp edge underneath every conversation.
Barbara is jealous of Tessa, not over her fathers affections but her youth and the fact that shes the daughter of her husbands first wife
Barbra acts like a jealous older sister more then a Step-Mother and its quiet sad.
Tessa is well aware her fathers wife ie jealous of her. She finds it annoying and just embarrassing.
Barbara is overly critical of Tessa’s clothes, friends, and choices. She frames it as “concern,” but Tessa knows the real motivation behind them.
What's even more ridiculous is Barbara at her grown age littelry bullies Tessa..
Growing up, Barbara was the “odd one out” at school. Even though her parents spoiled her, they weren’t part of the same wealthy social circles as Tessa’s family. Barbara learned to crave status and validation, which makes Tessa’s confidence feel like a personal insult.
Barbara never calls her "Tessa." It's always "Theresa." She claims it's because Theresa is her "proper name," but everyone knows she's doing it because Amanda was the one who started calling her Tessa.
Tessa responds by calling Barbara "Barbara" instead of "Mother" or "Mrs. Lance" The formality drives Barbara crazy because in public she wants people thinking they have the picture perfect blended femily relationship.
Tessa is an expert at reading Barbara's moods. She can tell whether Barbara is irritated simply by the sound of her heels.
Whenever guests are over, Barbara becomes the picture of the perfect stepmother asking if Theresa needs more tea, complimenting her accomplishments, and speaking with exaggerated warmth. The second the guests leave, its back to the bickering.
Barbara constantly finds tiny things to poke at Tessa with especially around her appearance.."That skirt is awfully short.". "You'd look prettier if you smiled less smugly." "Red lipstick isn't appropriate for girls your age."
Barbara always finds some excuse to "borrow" Tessa's dresses before an event.
If someone compliments Tessa in front of Barbara, Barbara immediately follows with comments like "Well, beauty isn't everything." "Hopefully she'll grow out of this phase." "She spends far too much time in front of the mirror."
Barbara has a habit of correcting Tessa in front of other adults over completely ridiculous things, hoping to make her seem immature.
Its not just Tessa, Barbra has issues with. Her and Amanda's other daughter Nancy Sawyer constantly go at it just as much because as we know, Nancy has always been overprotective of Tessa and can easily see the insults hidden behind concern.
Barbara becomes oddly competitive whenever someone praises Tessa's accomplishments. If Tessa wins an award, Barbara will talk up a storm about her own achievements.
Tessa's father often tries to smooth things over with, "I'm sure Barbara didn't mean it that way," which frustrates Nancy when she tries to stand up for her sister because Barbara absolutely DID mean it that way.
One of Barbara's biggest issues is that Tessa inherited Amanda's ability to stay composed. No matter how many jabs Barbara makes, Tessa rarely gives her the satisfaction of losing her temper in public.

Obsessed with the idea of being a wealthy 1960s housewife. So much so that she still wears 1960s hairstyles and dresses like the time period.
Growing up, her father, Elmore, constantly told her she was "too pretty to work." Whenever she wanted something, he'd buy it for her instead of teaching her responsibility. Her mother Vicky's attempts at discipline were usually went ignored.
She became obsessed with old magazines from the early 1960s, idolizing glamorous suburban women in advertisements. In her mind, a woman's greatest achievement was marrying a rich, successful husband.
Even in the late 1980s, her house looks like it's frozen in 1964. Pastel kitchen appliances, lace curtains, floral wallpaper, rotary phones, and framed Norman Rockwell prints decorate every room.
Barbra has an uncanny ability to completely change her personality depending on who's in the room. Around wealthy people she's soft-spoken and charming; around service workers she's demanding and condescending.
She hates doing housework despite her obsession with being the "perfect housewife." She'll spend hours looking immaculate but complain endlessly if she actually has to cook or clean.
Because of those soap operas she watches in her free time, she's convinced every attractive woman secretly wants her husband. She politely but firmly refuses to hire female staff, claiming, "Men make better butlers anyway."
Insists on hosting extravagant dinner parties every week, mostly to show off the family's wealth rather than because she enjoys entertaining.
She believes money solves every problem and is genuinely confused when people value love, friendship, or happiness over financial security.
Her Infertility is Barbara's deepest insecurity. She never talks about it openly, but hearing babies cry or seeing happy young families can immediately ruin her mood for the rest of the day.
She is fiercely competitive with Tessa's mother Amanda despite Amanda rarely giving a shit about her. If Amanda buys a new car, Barbara suddenly "needs" a better one. If Amanda hosts a successful party, Barbara plans one that's even grander.
She calls Tessa her full name Theresa because Tessa is the name Amanda gave her.
Loves old Frank Sinatra, Doris Day, and Connie Francis records and insists modern music is "just noise."
She never throws away Tessa’s photos because she knows Leon would notice. Instead, she keeps them hidden away in albums and boxes. She tells herself it is because she is “preserving family memories,” but really she cannot stand seeing a reminder of what she will never have.
Despite everything, Leon’s love for Tessa is the one thing Barbra cannot break. No matter how bitchy she gets, she knows he will always choose his daughter.

When Tessa was secretly cheating on Rupert with Carla, she ended up going through a weird phase were she became possessive over both of them. At first, it was just the regular jealousy over Rupert flirting with Carla but as Tessa's feelings became more tangled, her jealousy shifted into something stranger.
It stopped being about Rupert flirting with Carla and became about either of them paying attention to anyone but her. If Rupert and Carla teased each other or even had a conversation that didn't involve her, she'd get irrationally irritated. She wanted both of their attention all on her.

On the first day the apocalypse began, their parents made the heartbreaking decision to take cyanide pills. They believed their family had no survival skills and that a quick, peaceful death was kinder than being torn apart by the infected.
The sisters refused to fallow through with it.....With only a few backpacks, whatever food they could carry, and the memory of their family weighing on them, the sisters fled the house. Leaving everything behind, they set out to find other survivors, hoping somewhere there was still a safe place they could call home.

Tony grew up surrounded by wealth, private tutors, and staff, but very little genuine affection. His parents believed love was shown through expensive gifts and opportunities rather than warmth.
His father, George Lance, expected perfection. Every mistake, no matter how small, was criticized because "a Lance never fails."
His mother, Melinda Holt, adored appearances. She made sure Tony always looked polished, attended the right schoola, and associated with influential families.
By the age of 25, Tony was already being groomed to take over the Lance Tech empire, despite secretly wanting a much different life.
Everyone calls him "Tony" except his parents.
His suits are always perfectly tailored, his shoes polished, and his office spotless.
A chain smoker and a heavy marijuana user.
He has a dry sense of humor that catches people off guard because his serious demeanor hides it so well.
Even tho it dosnt seem like it he loves his only daughter Tessa and is upset she refuses to visit more often.
He sends birthday presents to Tessa every year without fail. Tessa rarely acknowledges them, but he never skips a year.
He secretly keeps newspaper clippings and school achievements involving Tessa, even if he had to hear about them secondhand.
George and Melinda constantly pressure him to "correct" Tessa's behavior and make her into a proper Lance heiress. Tony has argued with them more than once over it.
His office is decorated with expensive art, but the only personal item on his desk is a faded photograph of Tessa as a toddler.
Has absolutely no idea how to communicate his feelings. Instead of saying, "I miss you," he'll ask his secretary to send another expensive gift to the Sawyers house.
Hes tried to talk to Nancy to ask why his daughter is so distant towards him but she won't speak to him either, the same gose for his ex wife Amanda.
He genuinely dosnt realize his behavior and wife Barbara are the problem around Tessa not wanting to be at his place. He just thinks Tessa has undying loyalty to her mother and refuses to see another women in that role.
He knows Tessa resents him, and he believes much of it is deserved. His work consumed most of her childhood (thats what he belives is the reason she hates him) and he can't undo that.

Tessa is a babysitter.
Her main work days are Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays usually late into the afternoon or night.
She commonly babysits the same three families the Harold family, the Cyndi family and the Bonnie family. All of them are middle class or live somewhere in the wealthier side of town.
This job started as a punishment after she spent money without her parents permission but overtime she grew to love it.
Makes about $15 a week just from babysitting alone.
She only larned how to cook for the sake of her job. She can make a grilled cheese (with bacon), scrambled eggs, alfredo and boxed mac and cheese.
The Harold family kids are the “good” ones, structured, polite, and a little stiff. Tessa enjoys loosening them up, letting them stay up 20 minutes past bedtime to watch late-night cartoons or teaching them harmless slang their parents would hate.
The Cyndi family is incredibly chaotic. There’s always at least one kid crying, one making a mess, and one asking impossible questions. Tessa thrives here more than anywhere else, she likes feeling needed, even if it’s exhausting.
The Bonnie family lives on the wealthier side, and at first Tessa felt out of place there. Their house is spotless, their toys expensive, and their expectations high. Over time, though, she learned how to “play the part,” even mimicking their mannerisms a bit when she’s around them.
She keeps a little notebook where she writes down what each kid likes, favorite snacks, fears, what cartoons they’re obsessed with. It started as a way to avoid messing up, but now it’s just a natural instinct
If a kid ever asks if she likes babysitting, she shrugs it off like it’s “just a job.” But the truth is, it’s one of the only places she feels genuinely trusted and… kind of important.

Tessa stood in the school bathrooms, tears glossing over her bright blue ocean eyes as she looked at herself thinking about why she can't be as beautiful as her beloved sister.
Before she could get a good cry out of her she heared foot steps and wiped them away standing up tall as she got her makeup out to make it look like she was just touching herself up.
Carla stepped into the bathroom, her boots thumping up to the farthest sink from Tessa and touching up her makeup. As she ran her eyeliner pencil over her waterline, she and Tessa made eye contact a few times in the mirror.
She could tell that she had been crying, but didn't want to ask. It wasn't her business, she didn't owe her anything...
Tessa snapped her compact shut a little harder the nessiary and forced her face into a cold dead stare.
“What are you looking at?” she snapped, her voice cracking a bit as she spoke.
"A mirror." Carla clipped back, putting the cap on her eyeliner pencil and putting it back in her makeup bag.
"You were staring at me too."
Tessa’s jaw tightened, eyes flicking away for a split second before she scoffed softly. “At least I’ve got something worth looking at.”
"Why were you looking at me if I'm not something worth looking at me, sweetie?" Carla bit, straightening up and turning to look at Tessa. She hadn't wanted to get into a fight, but dammit, she gets under Carla's skin.
Tessa let out a dry, humorless laugh as she spoke "guess you’ve got low standards, then… or maybe you just like looking at things that don’t measure up to you”
