and you two warm up in the place laced with wafting smell of pee and sanitizer

and so does he when you buy some white mascara and a better wig.

beomgyu is the enigma of the production department

in the worst way possible

is always seen in other people's business more than his own

"honestly i think you should break up with him, like if he cheated once, he's gonna do it twice."

all his past managers have a medical history of chronic migraines and probably some other hidden illness they can't even disclose because of him

has been cited with name for a number of superior's resignations

yet personally he's like the cockroach who will survive anything

also casually steals lunch from the community fridge and tries to blame it on the new intern, huening kai

but everyone knows it's him

everyone thinks he's a nepo baby

but he personally tries to start a rumor that he has slept his way to the top

no one agrees tho

beomgyu just looks like an overactive virgin no matter which angle you look at him in.

as soon as the words oh are you kai's mother leaves your mouth, hyuka shots up and literally snatches his phone away from your ears

he's like, hahahahaha, im so awake.

before you two can wrap up your conversation at the entrance of the bar, an audi comes to pick him up

and two men come out and starts calling hyuka sir and acting like he is their boss

hyuka wanted the ground to open and to swallow him up

so he just settled on coming clean to you

he knows you enough to know that you won't tell anyone about it nor would you use him

and he's so right because since that night you pledge to protect his identity

and he's like

hyuka also got the balls to say that he likes you fr and then you two drank instant coffee to celebrate the beginning of your relationship

Laying on the soft mattress, you faced the door, empty eyes focused on the floor. Numb was an understatement of how you felt.

Nothing could prepare you for this. Nothing could make you wrap your head around it.

People had let you down in the past. But nothing, not a single thing in this world, compared to the betrayal you were facing now.

Your own father chose money over you. The man who watched you grow up chose paper over his own blood.

You never thought the strength of a relationship between parent and child would decide whether the parent would leave their child for death or not.

You were always convinced that because at the end of the day he was your father, he would take a bullet for you. Never had it crossed your mind that maybe he was the one behind the gun all along.

It felt absurd. Absolutely ludicrous. But you started realizing Yeonjun wasn't the enemy. And he maybe never was.

It had always been your father and his corrupt company. Yeonjun just helped you find out.

You wanted to cry. You wanted to sob your heart out.

You needed to get all the pain out of your system because it was starting to burn your chest from the inside. But no tears would leave your eyes, no cries would fall from your lips. You were frozen, numb.

The only thing you wanted now was to fall asleep and never wake up. You didn't feel like there was anything to wake up to anymore.

Suddenly you heard a few muffled sounds come from the hallway, and a few seconds later there was a knock on the door.

"Y/n? it's me."

If you'd tell someone you recognized the voice of the person who held you hostage just by the way your name sounded coming from their mouth, they would've probably considered you insane.

But at this point, nothing and no one seemed sane anymore. The situation, your parents, Yeonjun, you.

"Can I come in?" His voice broke the silence again. It was softer than usual. Softer than when he was talking to his men, or when he had just taken you.

But it would've been stupid to say it was just his voice that got softer toward you.

"Yeah." Your voice sounded broken and hoarse but it was all you could do.

The doorknob turned and slowly the door opened, revealing the black-haired man you were once so afraid of. You felt a lot of things towards him now but fear wasn't one of those things anymore. That feeling was long gone.

Yeonjun's dark eyes examined you and you could immediately notice the worried expression on his face.

The world was completely upside down. The person who held you hostage was worried for you and your own parents weren't.

Your eyes fell on the tray he was holding in his left hand. There was a small blue bowl with hot soup in it and next to the bowl two sandwiches.

You blinked a few times, suddenly feeling a lump grow in your throat. He personally brought you food. He didn't get any of his men to send it this time or make you come get it. He brought it himself.

Yeonjun walked into the room and cleared his throat.

"Y/n, you have to eat something."

You knew you did. You hadn't eaten for almost two days. But even though you started feeling nauseous at the empty feeling in your stomach, you just couldn't bring yourself to eat. Who was there to stay healthy for, to stay alive for? Your parents weren't waiting for you back home anymore.

Home.

Did you even have one anymore?

"Please," Yeonjun whispered, the desperation in his voice surprising you.

It shouldn't surprise you.

Both you and Yeonjun knew that things weren't like they had been anymore, feelings weren't the way they used to be anymore, and you two... You two weren't strangers anymore. You were more—much more.

The thought scared you. You were petrified to face what was starting to grow between you and the man you should be hating, should be terrified of.

So you chose to stay blind, to stay oblivious to what was happening in your heart.

As long as neither of you said anything out loud, the changed feelings didn't exist.

Yeonjun let out a sigh when you didn't reply and he put down the tray on the small cupboard next to the bed.

You averted your eyes from him and let them focus on the floor again.

"Can I...?" Yeonjun asked as he gestured at the empty space beside you on the bed.

You stayed quiet for a few seconds as you felt your heartbeat speed up.

You blinked a few times and frowned: your heartbeat fastening its pace was the first thing you really felt in the past eighteen hours. 

Looking up at Yeonjun, gratefulness colored your eyes and you nodded.

The left corner of Yeonjun's lips slightly tugged upward, not expecting you to not push him away. He was glad you didn't.

Yeonjun sat down on the bed, the left side of his body angled toward you as he stared down at you.

"I'm sorry you found out the way you did," he started, his voice low.

His hand rested on the mattress and Yeonjun hated the way it was craving to touch you, to brush the strands of hair out of your face, to stroke your cheek.

He shouldn't be thinking these things. He knew he shouldn't.

He cleared his throat again.

"And I'm sorry it happened in the first place."

The lump in your throat suddenly returned and you blinked a few times. Were you finally going to cry? Were you finally going to be able to let out your feelings?

You didn't want to feel numb any longer. You couldn't carry the big ball of pain inside your body anymore. It was too draining, too exhausting.

To your dismay, again no tears came and you let out a shaky sigh.

"I'm sorry for everything, Y/n."

You looked up to connect your eyes with Yeonjun's but he wasn't looking at you.

The way his jaw was clenched and his eyebrows furrowed, the way he was avoiding your eyes as he stared at the mattress made you realize just how sorry he was. But for some reason, you didn't feel like he was the one who should be apologizing. Even after everything that happened between Yeonjun and you, even after everything he did to you, right now you felt like your father was the only one who should be apologizing.

"It isn't your fault my father doesn't care for me," you managed to let out, feeling pathetic.

Yeonjun shut his eyes for a second at the way your voice sounded so broken when mentioning your father.

"I am sorry," he repeated, his voice merely above a whisper.

He hated that this was happening to you. If there was anyone who didn't deserve all of this, it was you.

He hated himself for bringing you into this situation in the first place.

But he hated your father more. Because Yeonjun realized that even if he hadn't started all of this, your father would've still screwed you over one way or another. Yeonjun remembered the words your father had said.

"Selling her doesn't mean the end of the world for her. She'll live. Don't be so soft, boy."

Yeonjun felt sick at the memory.

"It's okay," you whispered and your eyes wandered to Yeonjun's hand that was resting beside you. For some insane reason, your own hand tingled to touch it.

You couldn't do that.

As long as none of you acted upon the changed feelings, they didn't exist.

Yeonjun opened his eyes and he physically felt his heart weaken at the sight of you.

He couldn't do this— couldn't hold himself back anymore.

He needed to touch you, to hold you: to let you know you weren't alone.

He just needed to.

So without being able to contain himself any longer, his hand slowly made its way to your cheek.

You blinked a few times when you felt his calloused fingers softly stroke your skin.

Your heart skipped a beat.

There it was again; you were feeling something again. And Yeonjun was the reason for it.

Again.

"Baby, look what you've done to me," Yeonjun whispered, the words so quiet, you wondered if they were even meant to have been said out loud.

His eyes focused on the way his fingers stroked your cheek. Your skin felt soft under his touch and the fact that your face was small enough for him to hold with his hand made Yeonjun feel something in his heart.

"Look what you've done now."

Your eyes turned glossy as you looked at him.

"Yeonjun..." Your voice was barely audible but it was enough to make Yeonjun snap out of his trance.

He shut his eyes for a second and slowly shook his head, the touch of his hand leaving the skin of your cheek as he stood up.

"I should go."

You felt the lump in your throat grow.

"Please, eat your food. I need you to-" he cleared his throat, "you need to strengthen up."

You nodded, your mind blurry as you sat up straight and grabbed the tray from the cupboard.

Yeonjun nodded too, feeling relief wash over him at the sight of you taking hold of the bowl of soup and warming your hands with it.

He walked to the door but just when he was about to exit your room, your voice made him pause.

"Thank you, Yeonjun."

He slowly turned around and the moment his eyes connected with your teary ones, the vulnerable expression in them contrasting the way they had looked when he first met you, he knew one thing for sure.

He was going to make your father pay.
