Took me a minute to finish this one... What can I say, I draw slow and life is busy. Ah well, here's turtle :) Look who remembered belts go over shells this time, hell yea I do learn from my mistakes 😎 The knee/elbow pads though, still enemy number 1. How the hell do those things work in space. I know the colors in the show are kinda muted and while I do like sticking to the source material, I like bright colors more lol. Donnie is now even more toxic green because I said so >:)

So fun fact I also do 3D art and I was too shy to put this on my ''professional" portfolio because I was afraid it was ✨too cringe✨ so on Tumblr it goes :)

I'm never sure how to take good pictures of my models, so if you just wanna spin it around yourself you can find it ✨here✨

Since I have the luxury of NOT making this for an animated show, I could go a lil more crazy on the details. For all the patterns I took inspiration from Japanese patterns and depictions of like lightning and stuff. In the show there's sometimes some blobs on the handle, so I turned those into a sort of vague cloud-like pattern. The lightning bolts are all leading to the blade because that's where the ✨magic✨ happens. Putting too much thought in these types of details brings me joy :)

And lastly some of the concept art and some of the early stages of the texture painting. I did also play around in Unity a bit to make VFX for the actual mystic stuff, but I don't like the way it's turning out so far lol. Not even tumblr gets to see that...

It's the time of the year for me to draw a fish, well half fish. It's always such a fun tradition honestly. Idk how obvious it is that I was somewhat inspired by Chappell Roan this year, mostly with the colors. And the hair lol (which took forever to figure out, I redid it like 4 times :')

New week, new magma and this week all purple, all nerds :) a whooooooole lotta Donnies can be found on all these boards and thank you to @weeklymagmas for hosting! Oh no! He blew up! As a little warm-up drawing, a little 2012 Donnie after a small lab accident💥

And of course, a Rise Donnie, my boy, my beloved autistic boy. I had to draw him in all his chaotic and violence loving glory.

Okay okay, this is gonna be a long one, I just got SUPER inspired for this theme. I had more ideas but not enough time, but that's okay because I'm super happy with everything I did end up drawing. All of the other albums n music videos are here and here and as always thanks to @weeklymagmas for hosting!

I drew this one first, it was the middle of the night so I wanted to do something quick so I could get some sleep lol. Scrolling through my spotify I came across the song That That and the little thumbnail just screamed Donnie. The attitude, the colored glasses, it's just perfect.

I mean, someone had to do it... I feel like there's a few turtles who would be a menace if given the ability to Rickroll, but I was in a Rise mood so Leo it is.

And lastly, my absolute favourite drawing of this week: a spooky 2012 Vampire Raph. I came across this one by scrolling through my spotify, just like the Donnie drawing and it was just so perfect for Vampire Raph (honestly my favourite bit of the monster tale). Also I just think it's a pretty cover. I may or may not have gotten a little perfectionistic this one, I kept thinking I was done and then coming back like an hour later to do more tweaks lol. But it was so worth it! Plus it was so much fun to do a more painted style in one of these magmas

Seeing your Bill Miku art made me realize. You'd make a bill possessed miku go so hard if u remember when that was a trend, and I'd love to see u take it on if u wanna

What happened in Naberius Creek...? Based on the chaos went down during the ARG that starts with this video, go watch it if you haven't yet, it will not help you understand the drawing :)

I know I'm super slow with this drawing but life be busy sometimes and I draw slowly :p I am super happy with how this drawing turned out so it's all worth it. This whole ARG was a fantastic experience, first combing through the video myself then joining a discord and losing a lot of hours of sleep to figure out the rest with a whole group of people. It was all such a great time, but one highlight for me was when we derailed Silvia's blog into full on roleplay and Miku based combat strategies. It was like the middle of the night for me when this was all going down and I knew I had to draw it.

When the theme is dance and a turtle who is canonically a kpop fan exists, I am left with no choice. He shall dance. At first I wanted to do Catch Catch by Yena because it is all over my algorithms, but in the end I did TT by Twice because it is simply ✨iconic✨ And he turned out so cute! Starting the 2012 boys out with Raph! Because he's my favourite and I can do what I want. In general figuring out how to turn these 3D turtles 2D was a bit of a challenge. Their shapes are just so weird, like what headshape even is that? I still don't fully understand the knee and elbow pads, but I got 3 more turtles to figure it out. Hopefully... As usual I didn't want to change the design too much, but I couldn't help myself from adding some scratches and stuff.

So a little while ago I may or may not have binge-read Mystic Malfunction by @vanillavengeance And I'm very normal about it, I like it a normal amount which is why I had to immediately draw some silly scenarios because I had no one to talk about it with :) If these doodles don't make sense to you, then that's probably a sign to go read it :3

Also yea sorry the alignments are a bit funky, the canvases are all very different sizes, das just what happens with MS Paint. If you want a good look at em you're gonna have to click on them

A fashion show eh? Perfect time for some fancy dresses (or an attempt at fancy dresses at least...). Not gonna lie, this week I was having a hard time with the drawing. I was changing up the pose even after starting the lineart. But that's what happens when you're drawing in the middle of the night lol. And in the end, every drawing can be saved with ✨fun lighting✨ so this week there is not one but TWO colorful lights! This week is another week where I tried to plan things beforehand in Paint. Idk why, but like the theme of ✨fashion✨ felt like pressure to have interesting designs, so I didn't want to improvise it directly on the Magma.

So when I read the theme I thought 'oh no the only musical I know is Cats, there's no way I can make that work.' Anyway, here's a very jellicle Ice Cream Kitty. It's a little cursed. Is she still ice cream? Is she all fur? Is it both? Who knows. On the plus side, this drawing was really fun to do, especially mapping out the fur patterns. Also when looking around at everyone else's drawing I remembered that movies with music also count as musicals and I've truly never felt stupider. Turns out I know a lot of musicals after all... Funguary Week 4 - Cosmic

Such a fun theme for the last week, for cosmic I obviously had to do a cute little alien girlie. I think this drawing has the most mushroom inspirations in one drawing out of all of the drawings this month. My favourite mushrooms tend to be the ones that look most out of this world so that is probably why. First of all are the pagoda mushroom antennae, all the netting are based on a few stinkhorns, the colours loosely come from the spotted cort and in general she's all glowy as a nod to bioluminscent mushrooms. And that is the last for Funguary, not just for this year but forever :( I'm gonna be honest, I'm gonna miss it. I've completed every Funguary ever since the very first one and it started an intense obsession with mushrooms ever since. I even did my art school graduation project on mushrooms because of it! It's been a lot of fun not just to learn about all the funky fungi in the world, but also to see my art grow and change over the years. Okay, sappy stuff over, here's a version the drawing without the screentone-filter and the sketch.

Funguary Week 3 - Immortal

So I know this is supposed to be a mushroom drawing, but I just started rendering the dress and I would not stop rendering the dress. It was just turning out really good and I was having a lot of fun doing it so... Also why did I decide to make it more difficult for myself by drawing an older lady with like 0 previous experience? No idea. Do I still like it, yes. It's probably not perfect but that's okay The general idea behind this weeks drawing was basically to do the opposite of week 1, because the themes are kinda opposite. So this time I went with very warm colors and lighting, smoother/less textured rendering and a very different looking character. The mushrooms I went with are lionsmane in the sort of cape-thing, lichen for the hair and crown and just some of ye ol' reliable generic-shelf fungi. The plan was to make them look more like splitgill mushrooms, but I didn't really end up rendering them with enough detail to make that clear lol.

This week's theme is filled with rage n attitude, that's right: ✨Raph Time✨ The full boards with truckload of Raphs are over here and over here (seriously there's a LOT of turtles) and of course as always thanks to @weeklymagmas for hosting!

After the theme for announced I was just thinking about which Raph I wanted to draw when ✨a vision✨ came to me. Tales/Mutant Mayhem Raph as the Hellmo gif. Because I mean, that's just him. He is an absolute chaos gremlin with a love for violence.

I did also wanna draw Rise Raph looking cool, so a bit more sleep had to be sacrificed lol. In the end I couldn't decide if I liked the drawing better with it without Ninpo, so I saved them both. And then I got the idea to try animating it, and you know what, kinda funky. Also for once I saved the lil sketch I did in MS Paint, so it's here too. Enjoy. Or don't. That's okay too.

Funguary Week 2 - Fairytale

For this week I wanted to do a redraw of one of my favourite funguary creation: a little fairy based on the pixie parasol. I just love this mushroom, it's so bright blue and it looks like a little gummy candy. With some mushrooms that have been on the prompt list for multiple years I like to play around with different designs and interpretations, but I just really like this fairy for some reason, so I just slightly redesign her every time. And now I have a little timeline of my art growth. I mean, it's kinda already like that with looking back on previous funguaries in general, but this is a more direct comparison. And holy shit this year is such a difference with the last few. In part because I had more time, but the rest I'm blaming on drawing turtles and doing some anatomy studies for fun.
