au: gossip girl + the hunger games Blood stains differently than dye, than ink. It’s warm on Dan’s hands.
Dan and Blair + Southern Gothic
Mysterious disappearances of young men in the middle of the night attract amateur writer, Dan Humphrey, to southern New Orleans. What began as a one-weekend trip to gather data for his novel turns into a series of apparently unconnected events that lead him to the suspicion that, whatever or whomever is coming for the young men; he is next.
In the midst of it all, seemingly ingenue Blair Waldorf, daughter of one of the plantation owners of the area, has offered her help to Dan; so they both could get to the bottom of the disappearances. Soon they gather enough evidence that leads to only one suspect, and Dan has been around her, all along.
smoother than a storm Dan meets Blair when she is no longer Blair but Mrs. Archibald. He is the ghostwriter for her husband’s autobiography and she is so brittle he wouldn’t dare touch her.
au: flatmates
Aspiring indie musician move in with young curator of European Art at The Brooklyn Museum.
marvel au: blair is iron woman, dan is the hulk, serena is the god of thunder
au: theatre majors. dan is an exhausted aspiring playwright and blair is the wannabe starlet making his life miserable.
The only sadness is the living without you, without hearing the notes of your voice with its particular intimacies of inflection.
au: Dan and Blair are rival Vanity Fair editors who find themselves making plans to meet, and worse, enjoying it
au: blair is a pop star and dan decidedly more indie, but they’re drawn to each other despite the genre clash.
musician au
Dair au: Dan and Blair are two lonely musicians until they meet and fall in love.
Dair Ficlet Prompt:
katerinas asked: what they do and how they act before Dan “marries” Serena.
“You’re finally in. Congratulations.”
Her tone is not playful and she reeks of alcohol. Scotch, he can smell five feet away.
The hand on her shoulder is ignored and quickly swatted away, and he sighs “Blair-“
“You hate me, I get it. I don’t blame you. But this… this?”
The laugh that comes out of her mouth is too dry. When she leans her head on the counter, supported by her arms, she realizes how vulnerable and hurt she feels. And that is not how Blair Waldorf operates.
But apparently she didn’t get the memo on how to deal when the UES explodes over the announcement of one Lonely Boy getting engaged to The Serena Van Der Woodsen.
So she drinks. And she remembers and she cries.
Until he shows up.
Her face is hard and there is dried up tears and it might be the first time Dan has seen Blair not care about ruined mascara.

"I refuse to be one of your regrets."
Two years.
Two years since Bass has been inserted into her name. Of course she was never letting go of Waldorf, it might be the only thing she held true to herself.
That was his common bitter thought, the little devil on top of his shoulder laughing maniacally.
Everything else was not her. It never was, but she liked to believe the lie, she had to, because it was so easy. The fairy tails of her childhood mocked her, even when she didn’t believe them anymore.
Yes, the pain was easier. The book never ends with her in a white castle.
But here she stands in front of him, not close enough to reach. He’s unshaven and tears threaten to fall from his eyes, but she almost smiles because he still has the same smell and his hair is again too long.
He wants to hate her, he wants to yell. He wants to throw that stupid headband in the thrash.
It’s like he’s seeing her 17 year-old self and by all gods, he thinks he might love her more.
"You never were." Her voice breaks.
"Then why?" He doesn’t have to elaborate much more than that.
She realizes she never uttered such truthful words “Because I’m afraid of being happy.”
It’s a second between a tear fall and his arms holding her. She’s sobbing quietly in his shoulder.
The headband falls and she doesn’t bother picking it up.
That’s all. This is, as they say, the darkest timeline. Everywhere else, nay, “everywhen” else — us in the Civil War, us in Ancient Egypt, us in the swinging ’60s — we are happy.
If this theory holds, well, by the law of averages, there had to be one universe — just this one — where we don’t end up together. Here and now just happens to be it. If you think of it this way, nothing is our fault.
Because you could have loved me forever. And maybe in another universe, I let you. (x)
She had imagined this before, the picture in her head always changing, but yet the same. They would have been happy, so happy, just being together. In these imaginary worlds, they are united, in all and any ways she can think of. They would always find their way to each other. Sometimes these fantasies took her into another time. She would observe him, the boy who worked on the fields from the window of her beautiful plantation home. [1/3]
