Maybe they tuck you in while they say it, or vice versa. Maybe they pull you closer in their arms or they leave to refill your cup of water for you.
Maybe yall are saying goodnight because you aren't spending the night together, and you can see a look in their eyes about how they already miss you.
Or one of you stay up a little later than the other, not being able to fall asleep at the same time, and watches the other being so peaceful and safe and trusting someone to be so close to them while asleep
I was curious as to whether the Angel Goemon episode had any other illusions to religion, and I'm surprised at the amount of references to the Bible within this episode.
This was very obvious, and I should have been able to see this from the start, but this episode takes place in Los Angeles, aka the city of angels.
In the scene where Goemon gets hit on the head by an apple, it could be interpreted as a reference to Jesus Christ.
"The song [Jesus Christ the Apple Tree] may be an allusion to both the apple tree in Song of Solomon 2:3 which has been interpreted as a metaphor representing Jesus, and to his description of his life as a tree of life in Luke 13:18–19 and elsewhere in the New Testament including Revelation 22:1–2 and within the Old Testament in Genesis."
The apple hitting Goemon's head prompted him to leave his garden, which may be a reference to the fall of man, especially considering the fact that Goemon literally fell when the apple hit him.
Serpents are also notable in the Bible. The scene in which Goemon falls off of a cliff in order to get away from the serpent may also be a reference to the fall of man.
This episode has a fixation on apples, and I believe it to be deliberate. Apples hold significance symbolically, and within the episode may be another reference to Christ.
"In the Old Testament, the apple was significant of the fall of man; in the New Testament, it is an emblem of the redemption from that fall."
Goemon redeemed himself from his fall, which resulted from his lack of ability to safely avoid the snake's attack, by neutralizing the dog which was about to attack him by shoving an apple into the dog's mouth.
As Goemon leaves the little blind girl, a hawk appears and leaves behind a feather, which the girl mistakes as being a feather of Goemon's. Hawks also hold symbolic value within Christianity.
"...hawks symbolize the ability to rise above our earthly realm and view life from a higher vantage point."
While this may be a stretch, this ties in with the episode's themes of blindness.
