Before our official session of #ivaeadventures, my DM told me that Merizwa (their boss lady) gave Ivae a book of teachings on the goddess that Ivae worships (goddess of dreams). This is a big deal for Ivae because she’s barely had any chance to educate herself on her goddess. 2017 was a weirdly productive year for me art-wise. It was weird because I almost stopped drawing regularly out of sheer frustration from February-May. There was no inspiration, I felt like I wasn’t improving, just staying stagnant. So I started thinking maybe art wasn’t my “thing” anymore. Maybe it was just a phase. I know every artist goes through ups and downs like this, but this was particularly bad. About that time was when I started getting commissions of client’s cool characters, cover ideas, tattoo designs, and gifts. Even though I had little inspiration myself, other people believed in me enough to ask me to take their precious characters and ideas and bring them to life. It has been an incredibly fulfilling year, because of that. Commissions have aided me in ways that nothing else could. I pushed myself beyond what I thought I could do because other people were excited and believed in me. So- if you’ve commissioned me, THANK YOU! You’ve helped me continue my passion for art even when I thought I had nothing left. ❤️ And, OF COURSE, thank you to everyone who’s supported me in general, this year. Kind comments, lil pictures and gift art, and general enthusiasm. There are so many wonderful, genuine people in the insta art community, and I am constantly grateful to be a part of it. This isn’t any sort of thing relevant to what I’m writing, considering Viv can’t do anywhere near this powerful when she’s 21 in Book 1.
