What was he thinking? The moment Aiden spoken up to the brunette, who was feet away from him, he felt the world crumble around him. He had broken the ice - shattered the wall that had been built around his heavy heart.. a heart that longed so passionately for her. God he wished he could think straight, but in this moment, Aiden had faded into an alternate universe - one where they were the only two there, but here, Aiden had no idea what to say. How could he? This unnamed girl had been the single most impacting person in his life - his silver lining. She was the one person who brought him back to life, and yet.. he felt so vulnerable around her. She weakened him in ways he didn’t understand, and that’s what had him running for the hills. Aiden Carver had been brought up unloved, but with her around, love was all he could think about. At least, it was his idea of it. He didn’t exactly know what love was, having never seen it before, but when Aiden looked deep into her darkly painted hues, he saw what he believed to be the one feeling everyone demanded to feel. It came so natural when he looked at her.. The feeling had consumed him from the moment he met her a year ago, to this moment now. But how? How was it that someone like Aiden could even find it within him to feel this way? She held such power over him.. and he didn’t understand why. What made the entire situation worse, however, was that moments after he spoke up, the girl was headed in his direction. Slow motion strides were taken until she was only inches away - so close he could almost touch her, and he wanted to too. God how he missed the feel of her.. Her skin, her lips, everything. She was so intoxicating, that it was almost impossible to hold his composure when standing so close to the girl. “Hi.” He repeated again, mentally killing himself on the inside for doing so. “I mean…” Aiden began to shake his head, trying not to come across as an idiot in from of her. But he was sure she already thought that - and it was this same thought process that left her own jumbled words going unnoticed. “What? Uh..” He then took a deep breath in, trying to answer her questions though it was incredibly hard to do so. “I… l-live here…” God he was a fool - he was such an idiot for acting this way, but she left him feeling like mush. He had no control when it came to this one girl. “I’m… good.” No you’re not, you’re terrible, run… FAST. “How.. how are you? It’s, um.. you know.. been awhile.”
Everything within Piper constricted; her heart, the blood flowing through her veins, the airways that aided air to her lungs.. her mind, which was only consumed in flashback memories of that evening. Memories that left her cheeks now tainted a shade of pink, a sight she hoped he didn't notice. Piper was always the kind to feel a little awkward, but Aiden made her feel a whole new level of nervous. The kind of nervous that caused her to feel physically weakened, unable to control her shaking knees or genuinely smile because — well, of the way he was looking at her. But, she thought she noticed nerves on his part ... that gave her hope. Until her mind concluded that maybe this wasn't a situation he was comfortable with because he wanted to forget her. Just like she had tried to forget him, he didn't want to remember their night. And suddenly, Piper felt ashamed for putting him in this situation. She should've just walked away when she had the chance, though it was far too late now. Be polite, and then leave him be. "Oh—I thought, I mean.. I thought you would've been back in England by now." His accent was still prominent, an accent that once had her melting for a man she barely knew. A guy she still barely knew, let alone was knowledgable of his name. From what she could remember, they'd never exchanged names. Only allowed themselves to be consumed in a night of passion, the magnetism between them a force like no other. Not only had it brought out a whole different side of Piper, it gave her confidence in her transforming self. A night that altered who she was. A night that taught her that love wasn't where you searched, it was found. It was unexpected. She thought love was what she'd had with her boyfriend; but she was wrong. With Aiden, she'd gotten a taste of it. And it was something she would never forget. "Uh, I'm.. I'm good. I just moved here a few months ago, I—got into this school here so.. what are doing with yourself? Are you—I mean are you working here or.." Clearing her throat, she felt embarrassed she hadn't remembered every detail of what they talked about, alcohol could do that to you. All she remembered, was how he made her feel. And being in his presence now, feeling the tension she knew still existed, at least for her, she didn't know how to compose herself properly. With heated cheeks, she looked up at him, nodding.. before scratching the back of her neck as memories flooded her mind once more. "Yeah, it's—been what, two years?" Twenty four months later, and the magnetism between them still reigned strong.
