This is the first work I posted since the election. I’ve been grieving along with the majority of the country. But the grief process can only last so long. And now we’re drying or tears and planning for the future. And I’m not gonna let that orange dildo covered in dog hair stop me from posting my work. This is my favorite photo from an ongoing project called “Through The Window”.

This is a photo I took of my sister and her daughter this summer. I love this photo because it captures such a sweet moment between them. But I also see a Muslim mother that has to keep her 3 children extra close, because one of the 2 actual candidates to be our president has openly stated that if he's elected, he will throw people like my sister and her family out of this country. She told me that my eight-year-old niece is terrified of Donald Trump. She doesn't know where she heard him speak about Muslims, but she did. ALL American children hear the things that Donald Trump says and it is sticking with them. Can you imagine how confusing it must be as an eight-year-old Muslim girl experiencing this election? This is not meant to be some high and mighty pro democratic post. It is meant to show that there are real people that would be affected by hatred they absolutely do not deserve. A hatred that is spread with false accusations by misinformed puppets. There are a lot of reasons I'm voting for Hillary, but my sister and her family are the most important to me. I know we're all sick of the election especially on social media, but I'm hoping maybe one person that sees this, can now picture the tiny face of a real human that would be horribly affected if that racist, sexist, homophobic, narcissist, misogynistic, poor excuse of a father and a man gets elected. I know America is better than this and I am optimistic about tomorrow. But the only possible way that a man this ethically twisted could get this far says a lot about the very prevalent white, closed minded patriarchy that is very alive in this country. Voting for president is not about you. It's about choosing where you want the children in this country to live when they grow up and move into the real world where their mothers might not always be there to keep them extra close. #imwithher #vote
