TS3 to TS4 Object Quick Guide
I am really no good at this but I want to see everyone jump onto this so here is a hopefully helpful quick guide to change TS3 objects to TS4 objects
What you will need: TSR Workshop. Sims 4 Studio, Blender V2.7 and probably this link and please thank orangemittens while you are there:)
Part I The Sims Resource Workshop:
1. Open an instance of TSRW
2. Tick ‘Create New Project’
3. Tick ‘object’
4. Tick (for this Tutorial) Sims3/Comfort/Dining Chairs and find ‘Dining Chair Colonial 1’ and tick it.
5. Tick ‘Next’
6. Don’t worry about this next page just tick ‘Next’ again
7. “Finished Page” Tick ‘OK‘
8. Tick the tab labeled ‘Textures’. Then tick the ‘drop down arrow’ to the far right (by the picture of a notepad with the orange asterisk)
9. In the drop down now tick ‘export’. Export Complate window opens.
10. Tick ‘Diffuse Map’ in the new drop down arrow. Then tick ‘OK’.
11. Name your file and save. Export Complete window, tick ‘OK’
12. Repeat steps 8 thru 11 only tick ‘Spec Map’ in step 10 this time and give your second file a new name.
13. Next tick the tab labeled ‘Mesh’. Make sure it is set to ‘High Level of Detail’ in the drop down.
14. Just to the right of the drop down ‘High Level of Detail’ is an export button (looks like a cardboard box with a RED arrow) Tick this export button.
15. Name your project and save as ‘Wavefront Object (*.obj). (Use the ‘Save as Type’ drop box if you need to change it.)
Part II Sims 4 Studio:
1. Open an Instance of Sims 4 Studio (Put in you ‘Creator Name’ if you have not already.
2. In the ‘Object Column’ tick Create 3D Mesh and then tick the ‘Object’ button.
3. Choose the object you want. Lets do ‘Arrmless Dining Chair’ for this tutorial. Tick ‘Armless Dining Chair’ and then tick ‘Next’.
4. Name your project and tick ‘Save’.
5. Tick the ‘Mesh‘ tab and look for the drop down box, which should say ‘LOD 0 (High)’. If it does not say this then use the drop down arrow and change it.
6. Tick ‘Export Mesh’ button. Name your project and tick ‘Save’ You will now have a Blender file.
Part III Blender:
1. Double tick your new Blender file and you should now have open an instance of Blender with your ‘Arrmless Dining Chair‘
This is where Sims 4 Studio Tutorial comes in really handy. I will be skipping to the “Scene Button” part of that tutorial. I would like to suggest that you read her full tutorial here as not to get lost in my quick guide.
2. Tick the ‘Scene Button’ and scroll to S4Studio CAS Tools and tick the drop down arrow if it is not already showing ‘Type and Cut’
3. Right click on the chair and note the cut number. (The chair should be highlighted in Orange.) Mine shows ‘1′
4. Right click on the ‘Shadow Mesh’ and note the cut number change. ( The Shadow mesh beneath the chair should be highlighted in Orange this time.) Mine shows ‘0′
5. Top left corner tick ‘File’ / ‘Import’ / ‘Wavefront (.obj)’ / ‘Find your file that you exported from TSRW.’
6. Tick ‘Your File’ (whatever you named it) and then tick ‘ImportOBJ‘ button in top right corner.
7. Now you should have a lovely mess in Blender :D Don’t Worry.
8. There are now two mesh overlapping and you will need to first Right click on the new chair mesh. (The one with no color to it) It should be highlighted in Orange now .
9. Note that in the ‘Cut’ for that chair has no numbers now. Now is where you want to put in the number for the ‘Cut’ from the original Chair. Remember “Mine was ‘1′. Make sure to tick the screen somewhere after entering 1 into cut so that the number one remains.
10. Next right click the original chair mesh (colored one) and press ‘X’ on your keyboard and click delete when it pops up.
11. Repeat steps 8 thru 10 only this time for the ‘Shadow mesh’ ( Most shadow mesh have no color but this is easy because the one you want has no ‘Cut’ number yet.
12. Now you should have a colorless chair mesh with a ‘Cut’ of ‘1′ on the chair and a ‘Cut’ of ‘2′ on the shadow mesh. If so then tick ‘File’ / ‘Save as‘ / ‘Name your project or rename if you want to retry for any reason’.
Part IV Back to Sims 4 Studio:
1. In your ‘Mesh’ tab (Which should still be open) Check that the drop down box is still set to ‘LOD 0 (High)’. If so then tick ‘Import Mesh’ button.
2. Find your Blender file that you just saved and tick it and then tick ‘Open’.
3. Importing Mesh waiting… Okay done now you should have a really oddly colored TS3 imported chair in the view panel.
4. Now tick the drop down arrow and change it to ‘LOD 1 (Medium)’. Import that same file into here.
5. Now tick the drop down arrow and change it to ‘LOD 2 (Low). Import that same file once again into here.
Part V Back to Blender:
1. Open the same instance of blender that you was in. (Should still be open)
2. Right Click the ‘shadow mesh’ and note your ‘Cut’ number once again. Mine is ‘0′.
3. Press ‘X; on your keyboard (with the shadow mesh selected in Orange) and tick ‘Delete’ when it pops up. You should now be left with just the Chair mesh.
4. Right click the chair mesh and change the ‘Cut’ number to ‘0′ just like what your shadow mesh had. (Don’t forget to tick somewhere on the screen so the the ‘0′ remains in ‘Cut’.)
5. Now ‘Save as’ again under a different name.
Part VI Back to Sims 4 Studio:
1. In your ‘Mesh’ tab (which should still be open) Check the drop down box and set it to ‘Shadow LOD 0 (High)’ Tick ‘Import Mesh’ button.
2. Find your new Blender file that you just saved and tick it and the tick ‘ Open’.
3. You should now have a Greyscale mesh in your view panel.
4. Repeat steps 1 thru 2 for both ‘Shadow LOD 1 (Medium)’ and ‘Shadow LOD 2 (Low)’ found in the drop down box. Use the same file as before in step 2.
5. Now tick ‘LOD 0 (High)’ again in the drop down box. And go to the ‘Texture’ tab.
6. Notice there are two textures. This time you will want the bottom one selected. Then tick ‘Import’.
7. Find your .dds file that you exported while on step 10 in Part I. Tick it and the tick ‘Open’.
8. Notice that your chair took on its appropriate colors.
You will have to either, remove several swatches or, individually import that texture file to each swatch and then recolor as desired. Save your Sims 4 Studio project when you have finished and you will have an imported TS3 Chair for your TS4 Sims behinds. There are several tutorials in Sims 4 Studio that will teach you how to recolor and to fix your DST Images in the Warehouse section of Sims 4 Studio if you experience any oddities in the bump speculars and such.
I can try to answer questions but be prepared for ‘duh’ moments from me :D and a lot of referring you to Sims 4 Studio Tutorials. I take a lot from the Sims Community and so I hope this lets me have the chance to give back!
Появились невидимые источники света! Урра! (надеюсь, они будут ярко светить ;))
Yes! Invisible lights are back!
To access them, type “bb.showhiddenobjects” in the cheat bar, then click on the “Misc Lighting” category and they should be there.
