This is the start of a let's build series where I will make a vanilla haunted castle, something doable in survival. The idea is to; 1) End with a castle that is more than a castle. It will tell a story of the defeat of a castle, the defenders that turned to dark arts in order to save their families, and the corruption of the castle. 2) Provide a playable RPG with about 1.5-4 hours of fun for up to 3 players. The three players will choose a class; Knight, Archer, and Alchemist. After choosing their class they will proceed to figure out the story of the haunted castle and defeat the evil pervading the land.
This is the largest build I have ever done and any suggestions would be welcome.

Do you focus on the Action or Characterization/Motivation in an Action Scene.
Good day, Â Â Â I was inspired to write this after seeing a post questing whether it was the action in an action scene that mattered more or the motives and characters behind the action. I think itâs an interesting topic that has changed over the past few hundred years. There are two secrets to writing at work here. Â Â Â First, people like it when their brains are active, it's an evolutionary trait, and different people generate more brain stimulation from different things. Some people like action more and some people like the metaphorical fights. Â Â Â A good visual example is the Luke/Vader fight in The Empire Strikes Back vs. any light saber fight in the prequel movies. In Empire there is a lot of emotion, motivations, circumstances, there is a personal relationship between the characters and the very basic fighting, with the occasional cool special effect, enhances all that. On the other hand in the prequels everything is excessively choreographed which is visually pleasing but the conflict is usually summed up with me good you bad stahhhhp being bad, I kill you, goodnight Tatooine may the force be with you. The choreography is also counter to potential character growth such as when Qui Gon died and Obi Wan becomes angry and attacks Darth Maul only to suddenly have his rage induced charge turned into a perfectly choreographed dance and he doesn't really face falling to the dark side, there are zero consequences because of how the action was choreographed. Â Â Â How does this translate into writing? Well before I get to that there is one more little secret that works its way into this dilemma. What would the audience like to see? This is actually a deeper question because in the history of writing this has changed. It use to be that people looked to books for things they couldn't get anywhere else; fantastical alien worlds, armies the size of cities, impressive and imaginative fight scenes. These were all things that books gave affordably that nothing really else did. But now we have movies, TV, the internet, video games, and people can get masterful paintings reprinted for an hour or two of work. Not only that but movies, TV, and video game all do action better to the point where what would have been enjoyable before isn't as good anymore simply because, by comparison, the action scenes are less action packed. Â Â Â So when it comes down to it writing on its own can go either way when comparing action to characterization and plot. But with the modern media available to us that action becomes extremely hard to make worthwhile on its own because people won't respond as strongly to it as it's rather dull by comparison sometimes. On the other hand decent characterization and plot are still as strong as ever and can activate a lot of the brain. Add to that the things that other media does for characterization and plot often pale in comparison to a book equivalent, thus elevating the medium of writing by association which makes it stronger. Now good media can do this as well, it's just rarer. Â Â Â Of course, the one consistent exception to this is for action scenes that aren't portrayed well in the media. The Dresden Files has an amazing magic system. But, it doesn't carry over to visual mediums as well because it's more about outsmarting and putting two and two together than flashy visual displays. It also has a lot of character to it and is first person which also doesn't translate over to visual mediums as well. Â Â Â Â So if you are trying to decide to focus on action or the motives/characterization in an action scene I say go characterization except when the action is more unique and thought provoking than you would normally see in other mediums. Do be careful about reader fatigue when writing action, however, because it can get to the point where the reader doesnât care and canât keep track of it in their heads. Have a good day. If you found this informative, and think others might as well, please share it. -Piquo

(Spread the word and get searching! It may even be a good idea to put this in your Queue to be posted every 6/7th and 19/20th as a reminder!)
#SafeSearchWrapUp is heavily community driven effort to help make the SafeSearch features on image-search engines such as GoogleImages, Bing, or Youtube be free of NSFW content. Every cartoon from âAvatar: The Last Airbenderâ to âYoung Justiceâ contains fan made pornographic works referred to as Rule-34. Rule-34 is a catch all term denoting porn of ANYTHING and EVERYTHING, cartoon or not. However searching up images of any animated series will likely turn up these images, even on the first few pages.
As the teen and adult fans of the show, we have to be considerate of the younger target audience. A lot of parents and their children may be looking up images of their favorite characters to print out and put on their wall or such. As a community we can make image searching safer for the young ones and their parents. No shutting down or deleting things from existence, simply keeping it off SafeSearch as a courtesy for others.
The Game Plan:
Everyone should pick at least one search term they think would commonly used by kids and their parents, such as âMy little pony twilight sparkleâ. You can search at your leisure through a few pages⊠say 5-10 at least? However, on the 7th and 20th of every month we can all do it in large droves. If the call is sent out all at the same time, like a tradition then more people are likely to participate. Additionally, if Google or Bing gets a lot of flags for the same image from a lot of people- we can assume they will be more likely to remove it.
What to look for? Gore, blood, penises, vaginas, and perhaps lingerie. Just use your best judgement. Honestly if its something you wouldnât look at while at work or show to a kid, then its probably not something we want showing up in a safe-search! If you think it should be done out of safe search as well, then thats your call to make.
How To Flag:
On Google, simply enlarge an image and go to Send Feedback circled here and enter comment notifying them the image is ânot suitable for childrenâ or something along those lines. If you would like a video tutorial, courtesy of jackrahbit, then click here.:
On Bing, simply click the flag image in the lower left corner when you hover over an image. Then check the âAdultâ checkbox. If you would like, jackrahbit made a YouTube video showing how. Quick and easy! Lets do this!
