So, sence currently in the story, we're in 1602, and it goes all the way to the foundation time, that probably means Hunter dies. Does it say exactly when or how? Does Hasel have something to do with it 🤨
Hasel is definitely NOT responsible for Hunter’s death thankfully LMAO He probably dies of natural causes (or maybe he does actually end up finding a bear) but since he’s more intended to be a one off character his death isn’t really that important
I’m considering Hasel and Dyo returning to the cabin after they become official during the ministories between Arc 1 and 2, and maybe once again after Hunter has died to repair the cabin, but since I haven’t planned or scripted those yet we’ll have to see :3 But he does get brought up sometimes later on in the series way after he would have been alive, and so would any other one off characters I invent if either Hasel or Dyo were reminiscing about them, it just depends if it fits the scene :3
How bird-like does your Hasel act? Like, he eats bugs and worms. He has a reaction to Dyo stretching in front of him (court dancing). Does he build “nests” as well ( °ヮ° ) ?
He is quite bird like, however his behaviours extend to other animals as well :3 Though I suppose birds loaf as well, he does loaf like a cat, though since his proportions are still quite human it just looks like he’s been impaled LMAO
But he does have self grooming behaviours, however I feel this only works in the context that he’s been by himself for so long and forgets that it isn’t normal
Dyo get’s caught in the crossfire too LMAO
As for nesting behaviours Hasel never has any children (plus both he and Hazel are infertile regardless), nor does he adopt, but he does wish he could be a father again. But there’s too many factors for him such as infertility, and any children he could have adopted would have had such a short lifespan compared to him, and he couldn’t bare the heartbreak of losing another.
Hazel on the other hand, she is aware of the fact she is infertile and adopting a human child is out of the question for her, however she sets up a room in her house with a crib and baby stuff just to help her cope. Dya finds it one of the times that Hazel invites her to her house before they’re in an established relationship, so if you can count that as a “nesting behaviour” then I suppose?
Though of course she and Dya eventually adopt Jay who is immortal like them so at least they get a happy ending LMAO

His hosts are pretty much the same for consistency reasons as previously mentioned, however since he changes hosts consistently and has a risk of losing limbs at times Hasel made it into a necklace for him :3 Dyo keeps it tied around his neck at all times, that way Hasel is always close to his heart ❤️ Even when he’s off galavanting who knows where in Arc 2 LMAO
Also sorry everyone I apparently lied, I had no idea I was going to lie, but it turns out I have 😔 I legit have no idea if I’m getting the next chapter out next week cause I have three work shifts back to back and now I’m gonna be at my friends house for like two days before that
Also work was super busy today so I drew a diagram

Mentioned this one one of my last posts, thought I’d go through with
Some stuff on the old post is probably outdated in terms of how Alagadda works, how Hasel came back to life and probably other stuff, but it has a more in depth explanation :3
To recap It’s a personality swap, so not a role swap (role swap could be interesting too though hmm)
So Hasel is still Hasel, it’s just if he had Dyo’s personality sort of thing :3 Things like their sexualities and physical abilities stay the same, (Hasel being bi and Dyo being gay)
I don’t think I wrote about this in my last post, but I’m updating their swap characters slightly, in the sense that swap Hasel is using swap Dyo to avoid his problems (eg, the vine and his dead wife/family) and at the beginning he pursues Dyo to make himself feel better.
Dyo on the other hand doesn’t have the vine to research, but since he has Hasel’s personality he’s still a doctor and a research type, but he doesn’t make up a fake backstory for himself to make himself feel better, and instead is trying to figure out where he came from as opposed to ignoring it.
Their story structure is different to the original as well, rather than Dyo finding Hasel and tagging along on his journey, the two of them split off to do their own things and end up running into each other at different points in history, never with an established relationship.
Hasel in this au is more than happy to use Dyo as a romantic and sexual partner, and will flirt with him continuously for his own benefit. He eventually starts caring about him as more than that and his behaviour towards him shifts from being self centred and even gaslighty at times to a genuine profound love and care (which obviously doesn’t excuse his behaviour, Hasel’s swap counterpart is definitely very toxic). However when it actually comes to tying the knot and buying a ring, he freaks out and locks Dyo in the crypt he was found in in Venice in the original canon (not my au’s canon, I mean the actual SCP canon)
Dyo is standoffish like Hasel in my original au, however he eventually warms up to Hasel, and falls for all of his flirting and attempts at romance. He even thinks to himself that, even if he can’t find out his origins, at least he has Hasel, and that’s all he needs.
And of course they still both end up at the foundation, albeit for different reasons. Instead of Hasel running away from his problems, he avoids the root of the issue, and does everything in his power to make them go away without actually tackling the problem.
So Hasel in this swap au has more symptoms of Histrionic personality disorder like Dyo in the original SCP canon (again, not my original au)
Dyo in my original au was supposed to be more like that, but I just never ended up writing him that way? He probably would have been more of an interesting character, but I still like him how he is :3
The swap au also has more focus on both of their characters, which is better, as opposed to it being mostly Hasel, BUT HEY IT’S EASY TO SAY THAT IN RETROSPECT and was a limit of my story writing abilities at the time, so I guess it’s good I can actually recognise that since it means I’m improving haha
I wanted to stop by and ask if I could make a playlist based on your dyo & hasel (also just inspiration by your ao3 work pieces) I've been listening to a bunch of songs that have been reminded me of the two lately and had the idea of making one on spotify based on your dyo & hasel

This is part of the story later down the line where they end up in America and have to solve a murder mystery in cowboy times, but they also end up getting a bit pissed in the town’s saloon. Dyo and Hasel are also secretly trying to buy each other a ring from the town jeweller and plan a proposal whilst looking for the killer so they’re dodging around each other the whole time whilst trying to make it look like they aren’t HEHE They each get a horsy and Dyo beats Hasel to the proposal while they’re out riding them and falls off, to which Hasel proposes immediately after :3
