Admin addition: roubaix-fr.pirateirc.net

Please welcome Mikaela who has joined us as an admin of Roubaix-FR. Mikaela hails from PPFI and will be working with the existing admin, Scoffa.

London-UK has been decomissioned. The DNS pool has been updated to use other servers and users should experience minimal downtime.

Admin change: sydney-au.pirateirc.net

Fletcher has taken over from Brendan as the admin for Sydney-AU which is hosted by PPAU.

The Piraattipuolue (The Pirate Party of Finland) have moved their server from Lithuania to France. This means that vilnius-lt.pirateirc.net has moved and become roubaix-fr.pirateirc.net. The DNS for the old server now points to roubaix-fr.pirateirc.net. Please remember to update your clients.

Could you add SHA-256 fingerprints to your servers page ? ZNC wants them if certificate is invalid, but yours are probably valid with exception of .onion addresses.

Please make our new server feel welcome: sydney-au.pirateirc.net hosted in Sydney, Australia. This server supports IPv4, certified SSL and SASL authentication and is approved as the official server for the Pirate Party of Australia (the PPAU). This server replaces the delinked ashburn-us leaf. The old backup admin / oper on ashburn-us, Brendan (from the PPAU) is now the primary admin. sydney-au made the primary server for Australian and New Zealand PirateIRC users (using DNS pools au.pirateirc.net and nz.pirateirc.net). Remember to say hi to Brendan in #opers when he appears!

Delink: ashburn-us.pirateirc.net

Our US server, sponsored by the Pirate Party of Australia, has delinked from the network. It will shortly be replaced with another server. The admin of ashburn-us, mwheeler, has also left the network. The server has been removed from the DNS pool and you should be automatically redirected to other servers. Our thanks go to mwheeler for providing the server for the past few years.

Network-wide upgrades

Today (Sunday 29th of April) we're going to start a round of network-wide upgrades which will include updates to the services, webchat and replacing the SSL certificates.

We'll issue broadcasts before anything is done that may affect your idling on the network as usual.

Update: as of now, Tuesday May 8th we're largely happy most of the upgrades have been completed without incident.

On PirateIRC we use charybdis as our IRC server. There's lots of modes and options that many people don't use so we've mirrored the excellent PDF oper manual written by the authors of charybdis for anyone interested to browse through.

stockholm-se.pirateirc.net maintenance (completed)

Our Swedish server, stockholm-se.pirateirc.net, is undergoing maintenance for a few hours and will be back shortly. In the mean time it has been removed from the DNS pools so you can continue using the PirateIRC network on our other servers.

Update: as of earlier this morning the maintenance was completed without issue and stockholm-se is now back. Thanks Swedes!

stockholm-se.pirateirc.net upgrades with IPv6

stockholm-se.pirateirc.net has been upgraded to support native IPv6 with the address:

2001:67c:2a0:2e0::228

We've updated the DNS so you can connect immediately if you have an IPv6-enabled Internet connection and IRC client to the Swedish server.

Lets get the formalities out of the way. This IRC network is made for the political Pirate Parties to converse and organise easily. Despite the name this network is not the place for distributing content you do not have permission to distribute, this network is for political discourse and discussion and general chat-based frivolities!
