This thought has been haunting me for days now. I don't know who I am. I'm just a compilation of all the fictional characters i've seen on tv or read about. I'm what my teachers have taught me and all the things my parents did and said. I am not original in any sense or form.

I don't usually write my heart out on tumblr, but I really have to talk about Matt Murdock right now. He "lost" his mother when he was a baby, he lost his sight when he was 9 and dad when he was 10. He was an orphan and you know orphans feel the most lonely. Then Matt got close to someone else, but he left too. He had Father Langdon but Matt left the orphanage and I pressume they lost contact for a few years because he didn't recognise Matt in episode 1. He met Foggy in college. He also met and fell in love with Elektra in college, but guess what, she left him too. His whole life people have left him, for most of his life he was completely alone. And even when he had Foggy he sometimes felt completely alone and lonely because he has DEPRESSION. So, he didn't tell Foggy about his alter ego. But then Foggy found out. And even tho at this point he had loving friends, Foggy and Karen, he was still lonely. They are great friends and loved him but when it came to him being Daredevil they treated it as an addiction, when it was really a part of him. Also Elektra came back and then died on him....TWICE. And the priest died in front of him. He was utterly alone for a long time and even if he wasn't completely alone, he still suffered from depression. No one understood him, only Elektra did at some point but she also left him many times and she was a killer, while Matt is a good person and does not condone killing. And yeah Matt was an asshole to his friends by not telling them he's alive when they thought he was dead for a few months, but that was the lowest point of his life. He spent most of it in bed because of life threating wounds, and the rest of it also in bed but because of depression. It was self destructive behaviour. Depressed people often do that, self isolate themselves from the world and push everyone they cared about away because they feel like they don't deserve them. He has always lost everyone, so of course he kept pushing and pushing Foggy and Karen away. I understand him and if I see a single person calling him something bad I will do something Matt wouldn't condone of.

Depression is a living thing. It exists by feeding on your darkest moods and it is always hungry. Anything that challenges it, anything, it wants that thing to stop. Anything that makes you feel good, anyone who brings joy, it will drive away so it can grow without interference. Its primary goal is to isolate you. It will literally paralyze you rather than allow you to feel anything at all. At its worst, you are numb. You are drained. You are immobilized.
