I made another road. I feel this is more Innisgreen than what they had given us. There is one intersection I couldn't find the texture for, but it's made of stone pavers, so... I suggest using the TOOL mod to place a statue there. I know that's what I'm going to do!
Need I say more?
This recolor is, of course, free on Patreon, as are all my mods and recolors, always and forever.
I hope that I have suitably fulfilled my civic duty for the day!
Happy Simming,
Pisceskat
IT IS DONE! All Full-Time Base Game Careers... MEDIEVALIZED!!!!
This was a labor of love and tears. Please enjoy it! Let me know what you think. ♥ Let me know what to fix! ♥ I welcome suggestions and constructive criticism!
I'm tired. Less than 24 hours to finish Writer if I want to complete all the base game rewrites before the expansion hits. Please pray for me to whatever gods you will.
I’ve taken the Secret Agent career and turned it into Royal Spymaster and Overlord — no more James Bond nonsense, no more Saturday-morning villain whiplash.
Instead, the split is simple:
Who do you serve?
Your liege… or yourself?
The Villain branch is still the only base game career with a Level 11, which makes it perfect for ambitious schemers. My current plan involves blackmail, abdication, and (hopefully) a stolen throne once Royalty drops. 👀
✔ STRINGS ONLY
✔ Fully medievalized text, chance cards, and buffs
✔ Base Game compatible
✔ Safe with Career Overhaul mods (as long as they don’t replace strings)
Free on Patreon (like all my stuff).

Next up: Writer and Tech Guru — and maybe medieval school “careers,” if I’m feeling spicy.
I have officially cut three heads from the hydra that is this “career”!
Alas… as any scholar of myth knows, the heads of a hydra always grow back. The expansions are already glaring at me from the future. That, however, is a problem for Future Pisceskat.
For now: victory.
This string override replaces all Base Game Freelancer career text with medieval-appropriate-ish language, covering the Scribe, Painter, and Numerist paths (yes, all three in one trench coat).
It’s free on my Patreon, along with all of my other career rewrites.
And now, only three Base Game careers remain:
🗡️ Secret Agent
⚙️ Tech Guru
✒️ Writer
Clothing conversions from The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered. Reminded me of House Arryn. All credit to Bethesda for the original models and textures. The dress (17k poly) has 16 swatches and the male outfit (26k poly) has 13 swatches. There's some noticeable clipping in the preview but I did fix it afterward.
And here’s Medieval Part-Time Base Game Jobs II: Electric Boogaloo!
Free on Patreon (because all my stuff is). This is a STRINGS ONLY replacement, so nothing mechanical changes; it just makes your base game part-time jobs sound medieval. Works with Career Overhaul and any other mod that leaves strings alone!
Snow Day! So, since I have this time off from work, I set about finishing this instead of Grading Papers! Please enjoy the fruits of my procrastination.
Earlier today, I posted my Medieval Culinary Career String Replacement. To go along with that and all of my other career string replacements, here is the collection of Shared Strings that are used by every job. This works not just with my career rewrites but with ANY career that uses the base game's shared strings, including your historically accurate custom careers. :)
And... now that that is out of the way, on to my TedTalk!
Why Is the Phone Called a “Folio”? (Now With Etymology & Receipts)
So! You may have noticed that in my medieval string overhaul, the Phone is no longer called a phone.
It’s called a Folio.
This was not me being quirky.
This was me being historically annoying. Let’s proceed.
📖 What Is a Folio?
A folio is not a genre of book — it’s a format.
Historically, a folio is:
a sheet of parchment or paper
folded once
creating two leaves (four pages)
Folio formats were commonly used for:
official correspondence
guild and court records
household accounts
legal proceedings
compiled letters and notices
In short: folios were how information, obligations, and authority moved through the world.
Which is already sounding suspiciously familiar.
📜 Why It Replaces the Phone So Cleanly
In The Sims 4, the phone is functionally:
a message hub
a summons device
a scheduler
a record of work and social obligations
In a medieval context, those things arrive by written notice, not vibration.
Your Sim isn’t checking a phone.
They’re consulting their Folio.
📁 Folio → Portfolio (Here’s the Linguistic Glue)
This is where it gets fun.
The modern word portfolio comes directly from:
portare (Latin: “to carry”)
foglio (Italian: “leaf” or “sheet”)
A portfolio is literally:
a collection of carried leaves
Originally, portfolios were:
bundles of papers
collections of letters, contracts, or proofs
carried to courts, guilds, or patrons
Which means:
Folio = the individual leaves
Portfolio = the gathered set of them
So when your Sim carries a Folio of notices, duties, and summons?
They’re doing the medieval version of checking a portfolio.
Language continuity, baby!
🎨 UI Harmony (And Proper Credit)
This rename was also done very intentionally to align with the Medieval Interface overlay by Dskecht, which replaces the modern cellphone icon with a scroll-style image.
I made another text replacement, this time for the Culinary career. :) All links are now hosted on my Patreon, for free, now and forever. Please go and check out my other text replacements as well!
Tired of the plain white relationship icons in your game?
This mod replaces the default relationship icons with colorful medieval-style designs, inspired by fantasy and historical aesthetics.
