Neptune transits throughout history🌓🔮
Note: if there’s a “/“ it’s due to the planet going into retrograde during that year.
Neptune in Aries (1861 - 1974/5)
During Neptune’s sail through pioneering Aries, Darwin’s theory of evolution transformed history as we knew it, completely threatening the ancient belief systems previously established.
It was also during this time that the Red Cross was established, feels perfect for this time period. After all, Aries is independent and at its best can be heroic. These were people who cared about the sick and the needy, ready to protect anyone who needs it.
Neptune in Taurus (1874/75 - 1887/89)
This time period saw the rise of Karl Marx who forced us to see a new way in which wealth could be distributed.
In America, this was a beneficial time for
This was an era where material wealth took priority, along with more appreciation for the world surrounding, as it is said that spiritualism spiked during this time.
Neptune in Gemini (1887/89 - 1901/2)
Neptune in this airy sign blessed humanity with vivid imagination and creativity mixed with superb genius and a natural talent for leaving a lasting impression upon the public.
This was when Henry Ford perfected the automobile and the first prototype for an airplane was crafted. As Gemini rules short journeys, transportation, and the air, you could say that this was definitely destined to be.
The scientific fields also began conducting the very first experiments in relativity which laid the groundwork for Albert Einstein’s Epochal theory.
At the time, these ideas seemed impractical (something Neptune here is especially prone to), but they always say the crazy ideas are always inside the minds of the genius.
Neptune in Cancer (1901/2 - 1914/16)
The generation of old fashioned family values. This was an era of strange familial happenings, but also a deep longing for change within. While wildly problematic, as this transit was peaking, sigmund Freud began exploring the unconscious and Carl Jung mapped out his theory of a collective unconscious.
Neptune in Leo (1914/15 - 1928/29)
Ah, old Hollywood. This was the era of celebrity royalty, introduction of the radio as a necessity to cure boredom and flamboyant, dramatic antics. This was rising of motion pictures, and the entertainment industry was changed forever. This was a generation where everyone wanted to be a privileged socialite. Think of ballrooms, courtship and glamour.
Neptune in Virgo (1928/29 - 1942/43)
The Great Depression, the heartbreak and distress of the Second World War... this time period wasn’t easy.
Many from this era are now activists, think of the civil rights movement, the women’s movement, lgbt rights, as well as environmental concerns, it’s all thanks to these people.
In relation to health, penicillin revolutionised the way we could treat illness and lifesaving chemotherapy was introduced to the public.
Neptune in Libra (1942/43 - 1955/57)
This is often referred to as “the love generation.” Some of the free love movement originated here with these participants. Those born around this decade have probably experienced a divorce after realising that they deserve more; these people are motivated by peace. Relationships are important, and raised a collective pondering of what marriage actually means - what does it entail? Is it right for me? Wheres the tradition?
This also sparked the world peace movements, and the United Nations was founded during this time.
Neptune in Scorpio (1955/57 - 1970)
Lgbt rights. Stonewall. This was an era of fighting against stigmas regarding sex and fighting the oppression some of us face simply for loving another human.
This was around the time of the free love movement, but also a huge scare in America of young adults and teens looking into the occult; tarot cards, ouija boards.... the use of drugs, and sexual taboos were beginning to be smashed.
This was also a period where the creation of human life inside test tubes was uncovered. Scorpio presides over rebirth, uncovering the truths, and death, so advancements in fertility seems a very fitting occurrence for this era.
Neptune in Sagittarius (1970 - 1984)
During this time period many survivors of religious abuse began to come forward about the sexual abuse they experienced within places of worship. Sagittarius rules religion, Neptune rules secrets, so these heinous secrets coming to light makes a lot of sense, and these survivors finding the strength to come forward for justice perfectly coincided with the stars, as if the universe was gently guiding them towards peace.
On a lighter note, as Sagittarius promotes liberty and truth, as well as foreign travel, this was a time where parts of the world with far more resources began to give back to communities they have stolen from and destabilised.
Neptune in Capricorn (1984/85 - 1998)
Advancements in chemistry, medicine and science. Cars improved, batteries worked faster and for longer.
The natural earth; minerals, oil... for better or worse, this was when drilling for such materials became of a prime importance.
Neptune in Aquarius (1998 - 2012)
Astrologers have noted our generation as “the flame of consciousness.” Not only have memes exploded on the internet, but so as social activism. This is a generation of demanding equity and equality, revolutions and interacting with one another (for better or worse, enemies or allies).
In regards to technology, the advancements made seem so unbelievable when you look back throughout history. We can fit the entire internet into our pockets, we hold it in our hands everyday, inside a sleek, slim, fast, long lasting battery. Smartphones, smart TVs, streaming services, advancements within science and technology overall.... this transit completely changed the world and how we interact with one another. At the click of a button we can speak to each other, which is very Aquarian.
Neptune in Pisces (2016 - 2026)
It is too early to truly observe what this Pisces transit in its home planet will bring, however, I predict that we will see religion being reclaimed as studies have shown that many millennials and gen z members no longer feel connected to older aspects of religious practices. I can see this transit bringing a new perspective and awareness in regards to religion, and perhaps a spiked interest in spiritual practices such as tarot, astrology, palmistry, and other forms of divination. This might be a time where humanity can learn to be more compassionate towards one another, but we’ll just have to wait a little longer for what destiny has in store for us all.
