do you boil the clothes too or just wash it like normal clothes from retail?
Hi! I don’t boil the clothes & I wash it like normal, the only different thing I do is have a seperate batch for NEWLY thrifted items. We compile thrifted clothes per week/per month and wash it all together, separate from our normal clothes. Once it’s been washed - it’s now considered normal clothes already. :-)
Hi ate! What's your course po? Thanky 😊
Hi sorry for the late reply!!! I took Interior Design in college haha and Sims is to blame.
How about sa cubao and anonas? San ka naguukay ukay?
For Cubao, just go to the side of Puregold! Along that is around 3-5 ukay. That’s north exit of MRT (north bound). The big one that I used to go where I got my Doc Martens for 500 is now Shakeys hahaha I don’t know where they are now. There are also some under the LRT 2 side of Cubao.
For Anonas, just ride the LRT 2. Go down and ask the building of ukay ukay. I forgot how we found it. But the building is old and unnoticeable. But it’s near the LRT. It’s a BUILDING of ukay!!! It’s nice. I got a lot of 10 peso clothing there.
San ka nag ukay ukay?
My favorite places are in Sangandaan and Monumento because it’s near my house. Second favorite is in Pedro Gil because it’s near my school. When I’m in the mood for all out thrifting I go to Quiapo, Along the street from D.Jose - Carriedo, Cubao, Libertad and Anonas! :-) There are some in LRT Stations like in Edsa, Gil Puyat and Tayuman. I also go to Raberly in QC near Trinova! I basically just go ukay if I pass by one or if I see it, I take a mental note where it is & go back.
Hi Ate Geri! Saan banda po kayo sa monumento and sangandaan nagtithrift? I'm planning to try thrifting po kasi and yun lang malapit sa school namin. Salamat po 💖
Hi! In Sangandaan, there is two in front of SM (the other side of the road) one is near the stoplight/intersection and the other one is near Chowking.
In Monumento, there are a lot. One in LRT going to North (at the stairs), two along the LRT going south. There’s a big one in the monumento circle, just along Mercury Drug. There is one near Grace Park. There are three at the back of Victory Mall (check the building of MicroCadd), there are two also below The Hideout. And lastly, one of my faves - check third floor Araneta Square. There are still more in Monumento, just roam around if you have time!
Hope this helps and happy thrifting!!! :)
This is What I Wore #(I don’t know I’ve lost count I’ll update the number soon haha!): BLOGGERS UNITED 13
Summer isn’t over for me yet. I still can pull off boho looks since the scorching heat still exist. My summer go-to look is a combination of stylish but still comfortable. Right now I can’t afford to go out of my comfort zone because I’ll end up sweating through my clothes. This top was perfect for the weather because it’s airy, as well as the pants because of it’s flar - it’s flowy and doesn’t restrict movement. Also, can’t you tell I love denim? Closed the look with one of my favorite summer sandal!
TOP: Aztec Print Crop Top (Forever 21 - On sale) BOTTOM: Highwaisted Flare Pants (Thrifted/Ukay Ukay, P35) FOOTWEAR: Slip on Sandals (Shopee App Seller, P85 only!) HEADWEAR: Nudish Brown Turban (Bangketa Finds, P50) BAG: Esprit Shoulder Bag (Hand-me-down from my mom)
Slowly trying to update my blog with what’s currently happening in my life as much as I can since I lack so many updates already. This happened yesterday (3rd of June) and even though I just gotten home from a 3 day beach trip - I had to go to BU13 because my favorite blogger would be there, guess who & click read more.
This is What I Wore #53: To Opportunities *clink*
(This was in January!) Second outfit this year!! Today, Just & I head out to ABS CBN (yes wow nice) for a meeting for a project that we will have part of as freelancers. Since I thought it’s sorta of something formal (big company, big people to impress), I dressed up for the occasion. Top portion is the “casual” of my smart casual attire, just a simple basic crop top that I use to highlight my pants. Bottom part is “smart” part where in I wore black high waisted trousers and pointy, fancy flats. I feel like this outfit tells that I’m serious for the job but also that I have fun while doing it. Then it turns out, the office was full of young adults who wore casual outfits for work. Cool.
The meeting went well, but the rest of the project/process didn’t. It’s a whole story but to cut it short, I was very optimistic about my role in the project, but then they had a lot of expectations from me and I had 0 experience which resulted in me backing out. It was a BIG opportunity that only a stupid person would not take, but then I feel I wasn’t the right person for the job even if I try my hardest. There was crying and arguing in between those moments. It was SOOOO stressful. After a while, I was called back again but this time I only had a little contribution for the project, that’s okay though, I still got paid!
>>THIS IS WHAT WE WORKED ON<<
Top: White Cropped Top (Ukay Ukay-Asos, P25) Bottom: Black High Waisted Trousers (Online Find/Secondhand - F21, P300) Shoes: Black Pointed Sandals (Ukay Ukay, P150)
It’s been a while, again. For now, here is a series of the things I did from April to May!
NEW THEME/BANNER
Just changed my color scheme, a new banner and a new cool feature! Check it out if you wanna!
ADVENTURE TRACKER
I’ve placed marks on the map on places I’ve been to. I am person who just likes keeping track and making list. It’s not much... right now. Soon I’ll be filling this up! If you want to add this on your blog - just click zeemaps and you can make one for yourself. It’s easy and so addicting!
HOLY WEEK STAYCATION WITH FAMILY
For holy week, we opted to stay in the city - since (a) we knew a lot of people are going to travel - that means a lot of traffic & (b) we have a newborn with us so travelling far isn’t really suitable for his situation. We stayed at Acacia Suites in Taguig via AIRBNB. What I love about this is that they incorporated a lot of nature elements to sort of balance the city + country life.
SUMMER STAYCATION
We had another staycation at SHELL Residence in Pasay which was favorable to me because it was just a few walks from the office. Mom also chose this because it was near the airport and she was goin to head back to Japan again.
SECOND ADVENTURE WITH MY LOVE
I knew a long weekend was coming up (Labor Day) and I took it as an opportunity to sneak in a quick getaway. Luckily Just was up for it and this time, we decided it was a 3D2N trip! Last one we went to was at the south and now we chose to go to North and visit Zambales!
THIRD ADVENTURE (already?!) in ANTIPOLO & TAGAYTAY
One saturday, I was at the dentist with a small bag with just one bathing suit and just one extra clothes because we planned on going night swimming at Antipolo with Just and his officemates. After our swimming, they - on a whim - decided we go to Tagaytay, just for the heck of it. And we did. We went from one high place in the North to go to another in the South.
EVERYONE MEET SEPH
My very very cute nephew!! He is so little!! I have fears holding him since he’st still fragile so I’ll wait a few more months til I can fully play with him. For now, I’ll just continue admiring him haha!
OFFICIALY UNEMPLOYED
This might come as a shock but now I am! My job was just project based for 3 months and my contract ended just today. I had a little get together in SNR (again haha!) as my birthday treat and also as despedida. I am so happy these are the people I get to work with - not because of what they are professionally, but what they are personally.
I TURN 22 TODAY!!!!!
Yes, today!!! As I’m typing this, it is my birthday. I have nothing to do much today really - which is what I wanted tbh. I used to dread growing old but I’m just so blessed to be alive for 22 years and to be filled with so much love.
MY BIRTHDAY GIFT FOR MYSELF
This is what I spent my last income for! I am really obsessed with instant/film photos that I got myself 70 films. 10 was from Just (the black ones) and the rest I bought. It’s funny because one of it has a design of happy wedding (which I used with my officemates) haha! This is to document future adventures.
And since I am unemployed, I have a lot of time in my hands. I am gonna be posting a lot again. And when I say a lot - I MEAN A LOT. Thank you for still being here. Thank you for reading! I hope you had a nice day.
Hi! what's your shop?
This is so long ago I’m sorry. Pls check out @allthingsthriftyph on instagram!! Posting again this week <3
Best Thrift/Ukay Ukay Finds from 2016
Okay I know I know, it’s almost the end of the first quarter of the year and I still have rewinds from 2016. It’s hard finding time to prepare this, take photos and edit them not only because of work but because I always aim for quality photos and not just rush them. So here are my treasures from last year, all of them are less than 50 pesos!
LIFE UPDATE: Many-Firsts March
I (used to) believed that if you love blogging then you’d have time for it - no excuses, that’s why I never understood why people apologize for not updating their blog for a long period of time. Now I do and I’m sorry if I ever misjudged any of you. This has been the longest period of my inactivity yet. I now know what it feels like to be busy that there’s no time for anything else. It sucks but this is where I need to really have to manage and make time.
So here’s what you’ve missed during those period of moments that I was away from tumblr, I had a lot of firsts!
(1) I visited Interior Design & Manila, alone.
One perk of my office location is that I’m close to these kinds of conventions, exhbits and seminar (see#9). I used to go to these when I was in college. Though I don’t need this as much right now because I work in retail but I still need to fuel this side of my career. Best booth in my opinion is Boysen’s. They always are clever and creative in presenting themselves and make fun and interactive booths. They even gave us a free VR!
(2) I’ve tried the Angkas app, thrice!
Basically it’s like GRAB but you’re riding on the back of a motorcycle. This is something that some people wouldn’t agree on doing but I on the other hand didn’t hesistate and tried it. It’s the best at night when the wind is cold. And it’s convenient when you’re on the rush. I rode it once when the LRT broke down and I still got to work on time!
(3) I got my passport renewed, faster than I expected!
Perks of having a dad who works at DFA, joke! I had to process it like everyone else but I had the privilege of being in courtesy lane. I’m so impressed with the new design! They made it so aesthetic and very modern, if I must say, it’s very millenial. Kudos to the team who worked on it!
(4) First dinner out with officemates/friends at Dohtonbori.
It’s crazy how in a short span of time they made me felt like I belong even though I’m a newbie. It’s crazy how welcoming they are, I will be forever grateful for this new people in my life. That’s to say that least because it’s surprising to find people you can easily connect with and have the same interests and I have that with them too. I am looking forward to more crazy adventures with them! <3
(5) !!!! First overnight out of town trip at Fortune Island, Batangas with just the two of us, using our own money.
The highlight of my March! I have yet to post about this but let me tell you how invigorating this feels. We’ve been dying to go somewhere for so long. Imagine 8 years together and we actually haven’t been anywhere with just the two of us. When we were there, we felt really weird (in a good way) because we weren’t used to it. We did have an amazing time together, checking out the wonders of the island (beside the unfortunate garbage in the surroundings). This is our first and most definitely won’t be the last.
(6) First site visit!
Good thing about my work is that not all of the time I am at the office. I get to check sites of where new Watsons store will open soon. First one is at Matalino St. Phil Heart Center and then after that my officemate and I (the one in the photo) ate at Iscreamist Maginhawa.
(7) My officemates like to take photos as much I do haha! This was taken at the parking lot during our breaks.
At the office, I am sort of a half and half. Because most times I spent my day with these wonderful girls who are as crazy as me. But often times I spend time and get along great with the boys. In my line of work I work closely with engineers and architect so that’s unavoidable to work with the opposite gender. But I’m really happy that they made me feel part of their group even if I’m this small little girl who looks like I’m incapable of anything (and I have to prove to them that I’m not!). They trust me and even wants me to do more. It feels like I’ve known them for years.
(8) My mom’s back in the PH for her annual once a year visit!
If you’re still here reading this, well I’m more than happy to announce that our family has grown from 5 to 6! This year our focus in not on going somewhere like our usual but to spend time with each other as we welcome a new member of our family. “Family is Forever.”
(9) I got to watch COLDPLAY!!!! for free!!!!
I am not the biggest fan of coldplay, I do know a lot of their (old) songs and it would be an honor to hear them live. The moment they announced the venue was in the parking lot - I jumped for joy. Please do not misunderstand that I’m taking advantage but I can’t shell out a lot of money for 1 day. I commend people who do, especially if it’s to hear and see their favorite band live. During my job interview two months ago, my eyes twinkled to see that we have a front view of the concert grounds from the 9th floor and from that day I made it a point to watch it regardless of the time or the people I’m with. And boy was it one of the magical nights. I stayed from beginning to end and my smile was from ear to ear as I hear them sing live the songs I was only used to hearing on my earphones. I will never forget this night!
Happy Easter everybody! I hope you had a wonderful month this April and wishing you a fun-filled summer vacation!
I’m constantly torn between “if it’s meant to be, it will be” and “if you want it, go and get it.”
“if it’s meant to be, it will be” - friendships, relationships, people in general coming into your life, dealing with rejection
“if you want it, go get it” - your goals, aspirations, work and work ethic, changing your life (diet, exercise, hobbies, political views, opinions)
I thought ako lang yung ganito hahaha
This is What I Wore #1 {School Girl}
Officialy my first day of my last term of college! I plan to make the most out of it so I’m getting a uniform exemption card so that I can wear whatever I want to wear and finally put all my thrift finds to good use.
Top - Ukay Ukay (P50)
Skirt - Ukay Ukay (P35)
Shoes - Ukay Ukay (P100)
Okay, wow. It’s been a full year since I posted my first ever TIWIW (hahah what a weird acronym to pronounce!). It’s such a nice feeling to lookback not only what I wore that day but also what I did. I still can remember clearly that day where I asked my best friend Gelo to take my photos starting that day and for the rest of the term. I’m so happy I have him and my friend Trina who supports me fully in my passion especially in my first few steps.
Now, one year later, I have you, who follows my blog, who reads my posts (and gives them likes and comments!) who chats me and opens up conversation and who became my friends. The people who support me (from family to friends and from strangers who became friends) have grown so much and I couldn’t be more grateful. The massive support and love given to me even in the simplest way gives so much hope to work harder for my dreams and to be more confident in just being myself. It means so much when someone says that I’ve inspired them to thrift and they tried thrifting because of the things they see in my blog. I’m glad I’ve spread a positive message about thrifting and demolished all the misconceptions about it. I have said this a countless time but I will say it again. Thank you!
I’m sorry for the inactivity since work and just spending quality time with my loved ones have taken up all my intended time for blogging. I still have so many to tell and to post, don’t worry. I’m preparing more thrift-related post along with all my life happenings! You’ll be seeing me again a lot on your dashboard.
February was one of the busiest month of my whole life and I’m proud to announce that I’m officialy employed! I’m also proud to announce that from my list of Goals for 2017, I was able to tick off four - in just two months! I will get into more detail below!
This is What I Wore #45: Messenger
I did not kid you when I said I started gravitating towards the vintage style. I can’t stop, all I’ve been buying from thrift stores are in the shades of brown and vintage denims. My outfit makes me look like a messenger but I dont’t mind. I’m also lovin’ the lenght of this culottes, it’s short but not too short.
This is for our annual trip to the cemetery for All Soul’s Day. I know what you’re going to think, dressing up to go to the cemetery? ew. But wait, it’s because it’s the only time we get to spend time with my father’s side family -complete, so it’s also sort of a get together/reunion.
Top: White Crop Top (Ukay Ukay-Asos, P25) Bottom: Denim Culottes (Ukay Ukay, P35) Shoes: Brown Oxfords (Ukay Ukay, P100) Bag: Brown Leather Messenger Bag (Ukay Ukay, P100)
This is What I Wore #44: Just Chillin’
Taking you back to the day when my mom was here and we spent a few hours at the pool. And by “we” I mean “me” because I was the only one who really swam. I’m such a child haha!
(Btw, sorry for being so inactive! I’m posting a life catch up soon! <3)
Top: Marks and Spencer Swimming Top (Ukay Ukay, P25) Shorts: Mossimo Black Shorts (Online Find - Secondhand) Sunglasses: Large Vintage Sunnies (Bloggers United Find, P50)
