I went to delete an unneeded file from my MSWord mobile app and accidentally deleted the entire 11 chapters of the merman Simon fanfic. So I have my first five chapters, which I saved in a separate document, and the panic attack that I'm currently going through. (And yes, I've checked all the recommended recycle bins and trash bins the Internet suggested I check)

Wherein the author whines

My laptop has been poorly for a month. First, her motherboard died and I had to wait three days for a tech to be able to come out and install a new one. During that time, I did all of my writing (multiple chapters and rounds of edits) on my phone, which thankfully had access to all of my writing through OneDrive (which I hate, but was thankful for IN THIS ONE INSTANCE).

Tech gets her up and running again, and I write furiously for about 20 hours (with a break for sleep) and then she dies AGAIN.

I've been going back and forth with tech support as they try to figure out what's wrong remotely (it's the hard drive. it feels like an Eridian sans xenonite suit) and finally they admit that the computer's inability to stay on for more than a boot up cycle is hampering our ability to try and fix anything (ya THINK?!) so they send out a box for me to ship it in for major repairs.

Meanwhile, we've been trying to madly scrape years of writing, photographs, and game mods off my overheating-Eridian of a hard drive.

TL;DR: my laptop has been down for a month so I'm writing and editing everything on my phone and I JUST WANT A BIG SCREEN BACK AGAIN GODS ABOVE AND BELOW WHY IS THIS SO HARD TO ACHIEVE!!?

Okay so what my darling girlfriend is referring to here is an idea for longfic i have. and the context is that simon had finally been honest with grace about his past as the butcher and all the people he's killed, which goes TERRIBLY. so they're on Erid already and after this revelation, simon basically lives in his garden biodome by himself for several months bc he thinks grace never wants to see him again after learning the truth. grace takes that time to process (and have some of his own epiphanies) before he comes to the conclusion that the simon he knows has tried so hard and strives to be a good person, and though his past can't be ignored, he can still grow. So yeah

I have the black box data. All of it.

After sifting through hundreds of photos... I have realized that every time Simon takes a photo in the SM-13, he's pulling up a frame to a stop motion animation.

And it can be played back as video.

So, I took each black box photo and compiled them together. You can now watch Simon's entire journey from the SM-13's camera like found footage.

You can also gain access to Simon's amazing photography portfolio from my master reference project, as well as the video for yourself.

Please, have a watch. It's terrifying. I feel like a C.O.I. lab tech delving into something I really shouldn't, and it's a blast!
