Oddly enough, that’s my first game in this town. And I have mixed emotions.
On the one hand, a central part of the town is beautiful and impressive. And the world looks really futuristic.
But on the other hand, all the food and drinks are synthetic. And the outskirts of the city are really depressing. There is a desert in place of the sea and lots of abandoned houses.
It looks like the world survived an ecological catastrophe, and it’s a bit scary. If this is a "normal" future, I’m afraid of what the dystopia holds for me. But I’ll keep playing, of course.

The girls tried everything they could find in the base camp.

I thought a lot about it and decided to change the format of this blog.
I have to be honest. I don't want to pretend anymore that there are many readers here and that someone really cares. A paradoxical situation has arisen — my subscriptions hardly match my subscribers.
For different reasons I unsubscribed from most of the Sims blogs, and I almost don't have mutuals here. For now, my favorite subscriptions are associated with my other special interest — bird watching. But obviously these bird bloggers are not interested in reading a blog about Sims :) If I had the possibility, I would make a blog with bird photos, but I don't have money for a good camera and binoculars. So my bird blog stays a fantasy for now.
So I don't have much enthusiasm to search for new interesting Sims blogs for myself. I just want to continue my blog so that someone can find my notes — and maybe we can befriend some day.
But I understand that I have to change the format. My present posts have too few readers. I could ignore this if I really enjoyed the creative process, but it's not true.
The long stories take a lot of time and effort for playing, screenshotting and writing, especially considering that English is not my native language. That's why making long posts feels not like a pleasure but like a duty, and I started to avoid it.
As you understand, I don't have resources for longreads anymore, and I have decided to switch to short notes in the future. Fewer pictures, less text in a post. Not a coherent narrative, just individual moments and beautiful screenshots in Sims.
I still want to keep my favorite Catherine and Alice in these posts. And I still want to explore various towns with them. These girls are too important to me — I love them. They are like different parts of my personality. Both of them look like how I wanted to look in different periods of my life. So I want to stay with them and explore with them not only worlds, but also myself.
Everything is transforming, it's all just beginning. Maybe somebody will want to continue the journey with us.

Hello there! I have to make a little pause in this blog, because I'm busy with something else. For now, I'm working on finishing a big fanfic in my native language.
For my safety, I don't want to tell all the details here, in the public domain. I can just say it's a complex psychological story about some unpopular premades from The Sims 2 world. But if you're interested, you can DM me, and I'll share more details about it.
I'm not going to abandon this blog. And I already have ideas for a new show series. But I have plans to change the style and mood a bit. Of course, it will demand some time and preparation. Here's Catherine and my attempt to make an ideal reshade preset for the show.

Alice: Welcome back, our friends! Catherine and I started our fifth day at university separately from each other. The reason is our outdoor activities were scheduled at different times.
Catherine: Art lesson started in the afternoon, and my class was at an uncomfortable time – 8 a.m.! I had to wake up early in the morning, while Alice could still be dreaming.
Catherine: Nevertheless, I liked my outdoor class. We studied the skeletons and improved our anatomy knowledge under the control of an experienced teacher. I can say we had a lot of fun together!
Alice: I woke up a bit later. Soon I heard the doorbell. It turned out that was my new friend, Tiffany! She was walking nearby and decided to visit us. I invited her inside joyfully.
Alice: Tiffany and I had a meal and chatted a bit. Then we said goodbye to each other, because I had to get ready for classes.
Catherine: Alice and I agreed to meet for her class. I came to the place when the plein air at art school started. But there was again somebody with a megaphone! And I got a new sensory overload!
Alice: Actually, I felt uncomfortable too, because this noise distracted me from drawing. Fortunately, we managed to ask a girl to stop her rant. And we had a good time after that. I enjoyed the lesson, and Catherine studied with her skeleton nearby – quiet and without disturbing anyone.
Catherine: When Alice’s lesson ended, we both finally had a free time. We decided to go first to the Student Union. We went to the second floor and played a foosball and other tabletop games.
Alice: Soon evening came, and we decided to go somewhere else until the night. We chose the Llama Beach, because we hadn’t been to local beaches yet.
Catherine: The beach was calm and cosy. It was a good idea to visit it in the evening: swimming in the sea water before bed is really relaxing. So, we swam a bit and then went home. We had an important day ahead.
Alice: It’s true, we had final exams for our courses on Friday. So, the next morning we both got up early before this event. I made breakfast for us as usual.
Catherine: Then we had it. I must say, Alice is a master at making pancakes!
Alice: After breakfast, we opened our books again and refreshed our knowledge for the tests.
Catherine: We had a little time left after that, so we decided just to get distracted and relax a bit. And we played with the flying disk that we had gotten on our first day here.
Alice: Then we hurried to the exams. Of course, we worried a bit like other students around us. It seemed that somebody even wanted to use magic to do better on the tests.
Catherine: But we didn’t want to rely on magic. Alice and I made a decision just to try hard: to put our best efforts into the exams.
Alice: A few hours later we left the academic buildings. And we both nailed the tests and passed with flying colors! A professor even praised me! She said it’s very refreshing to have a student like me.
Catherine: My professor wasn’t so eloquent: he just said that I made the Dean’s list. But I know this is the highest distinction for students. And I feel great about it!
Catherine: So, what are we going to do next, Alice? How are we going to spend the evening?
Alice: Well, I suggest we celebrate passing the exams! For a start, let’s go to the hangout place nearby!
Catherine: It’s a good idea! Today I’m ready to have fun! Let’s go!
Alice: We headed to the Grotto. Other students said it’s a cool place for hanging out. There are a café, a music bar, and a flea market in it.
Catherine: First, we visited the café. It turned out to be cozy, and the drinks with desserts were good, as they are everywhere in the University town.
Catherine: Then we came to the music bar. There weren’t so many people in it, and the atmosphere was quiet, almost homely. That’s why I felt calm and not overwhelmed.
Alice: We found there some students whom we had met during the week. We joined them with great pleasure, and the evening was awesome. There was a guitar in the bar, and we played on it and sang our favorite songs.
Catherine: We also chatted a lot. We discussed our studies and shared our impressions of it.
Alice: We came back home quite late and went to bed immediately. We were waiting for report cards with our final grades the next morning, and we wanted to bring the moment closer.
Catherine: So, when we woke up in the morning, we ran to our postbox impatiently. And yay, the report cards had already arrived!
Alice: Wow, I’ve got a B for the term! It’s wonderful, I’m proud of myself!
Catherine: Good for you, Alice! And I’ve got an A! I’m very glad too, I had no doubt about my success!
Alice: Me too, and I’m so proud of you too!
Catherine: Thanks!
Catherine: So, our car home will arrive in an hour. We have already packed our stuff, what are we going to do now?
Alice: I think we can finally relax and just dance to the radio!
Catherine: Agreed!
Alice: So, while we’re driving home, we can share our impressions a little more. Catherine, how do you like the university?
Catherine: I liked it! As I said before, learning is a really interesting thing! And I fell in love with the local cafes – I will miss them!
Alice: So do I! I also liked the student vibe and the local parties! But I think, I’m not going to continue studying. It takes a lot of time and energy, and I can’t combine it with my favorite job as a show host!
Catherine: I agree. For me, it’s better to study at my own pace, in calm and comfortable surroundings. Crowds of people and large volumes of tasks at college can often be overwhelming. I prefer to get new knowledge without such stress, and the diploma is not so necessary for me.
Alice: Well, anyway, it was an interesting experience, and I’m glad I had it.
Catherine: Me too! So, it’s time to say goodbye to our viewers! Take care of yourselves, friends!
Catherine: Hello again! We’re continuing our introduction to the university. Our study started on the second day. The first lecture was scheduled for the afternoon, so we were able to sleep well. We woke up quite late and slowly got ourselves in order. Then I browsed my textbook to prepare a bit for classes.
Alice: And I cooked food for us. For me, it’s a part of preparation for studies too. Cooking is a part of the Fine Arts program, and this skill is counted at the end of the term.
Catherine: We had a meal and hurried to classes. My first lecture was at Bushe School of Science. I decided to make a normal effort: to pay attention to the lecture, but not to catch every word and not to overload myself with new information.
Alice: My first class was at Thomas School of Art. And today I wanted to socialize a bit more. It’s interesting to chat with the students to feel the university vibe better.
Alice: Besides, there’re many people to communicate with. My major is really popular! The whole crowd gathered near the building. It’s gonna be really fun!
Catherine: Obviously, the Science & Medicine major is not so popular. I met only a few geeks like me near the entrance. Well, fewer people are even better for me.
Catherine: Alice and I agreed to meet after classes between the buildings, at the School of Science Proving Ground. It’s an interesting place with equipment for group science projects.
Alice: Hello, Catherine! How are your first classes?
Catherine: Hello, it’s good. The first lecture was more of an overview, but I heard something new and helpful. And what about you? Did you like the lecture?
Alice: Yes, it was pretty interesting. I also had a good chat with my deskmate. She was really grateful to me for that.
Alice: So, what we’re going to do now?
Catherine: I think I’ll work with this equipment. A professor in the lecture recommended we try this. He said it’s easy and not dangerous. It seems, there’re some instructions here.
Alice: Ok, do this. And I'll sketch right here for now. Drawing is my homework too.
Catherine: We each went about our own business. Alice started to sketch, and I tried to work with the equipment. Unfortunately, we couldn’t do it for long. It started to rain, and we had to stop our exercises and go somewhere else.
Alice: We went to B's Bowlarama. It’s a bowling bar nearby.
Catherine: The place suddenly turned out to be calm and not crowded. We spent some time there with great pleasure.
Alice: We had some drinks and bowled a bit. Then we came home – it was quite late, and we felt tired after the day.
Catherine: On Tuesday, we had a day off. We hoped to spend this time exploring the town. But the weather broke our plans.
Alice: The rain didn’t stop since yesterday. It was still pouring, and we couldn’t go anywhere in the morning. That’s why we used this time for learning. I opened my drawing tutorial and began to study it.
Catherine: And I used my skeleton to study anatomy. I enjoyed testing the skeletal structure. Morty is a really nice guy!
Alice: Finally, the rain finished in the afternoon, and we could leave our home. First, we visited the nearest coffee shop to recharge our energy for the rest of the day.
Catherine: The café had a simple but pretty nice interior. There was also a good choice of coffee drinks and desserts.
Alice: I love the local coffee shops! The sweets and drinks here are so tasty! I want to buy them over and over!
Catherine: I agree. And the service here is quite good too.
Alice: After the coffee break, we sat on our bicycles and went further. We wanted to visit a couple of parks on the edge of the town. We heard students like to spend free time there. And we needed to know where and how they do it.
Catherine: We reached one of the parks: students call it just The Point. It’s really far away from us, but there’s a beautiful view of the academic town.
Alice: Oh, I see a few guys right there. I want to go and socialize a bit. Catherine, are you going with me?
Catherine: No, I want to… gather these stones for now.
Alice: Ok, join us later if you want.
Alice: I went to talk with these guys for a bit. I had a good chat with one of them. His name is Kyle, and he is my colleague – he is also a Fine Arts student here.
Catherine: Later, I finished gathering the stones and sat closer to Alice. I read my college book a bit. A guy next to me did the same thing. We didn’t talk and I didn’t ask his name. But we had a good time together, nevertheless.
Alice: Then the evening came. More people appeared in the park. Students who had classes today came here to relax after lectures. There were even some professors in the park!
Catherine: Some of them gathered around a campfire, and we came there too. And we noticed a juice keg nearby.
Alice: We knew it’s an old student tradition: to full a keg with juice and drink it at parties. I decided to do a keg stand: I mastered this trick once in my youth. I asked Catherine to assist me with it.
Catherine: It was quite heavy to lift and hold Alice, but I managed it.
Alice: For me, it was heavy too – to maintain a vertical position upside down! One way or another, I did it and also succeeded in drinking the juice.
Catherine: Well, Alice, how are you? How does it feel?
Alice: Great! I feel so juiced! Do you want to try this trick yourself?
Catherine: No, I prefer to drink juice the usual way.
Alice: Ok, as you wish!
Catherine: I poured some juice, and then we spent some time near the campfire. People here found one more interesting activity.
Alice: They brought some chemicals with them and threw them into the fire. It caused various unusual effects: blue flames and colorful sparkles.
Catherine: It looked beautiful, but dangerous, and we didn’t dare to repeat it. Instead, we decided to visit another park. It was late, and we wanted to see something else before nightfall.
Alice: Our next place is called Just-a-Park, and it matches the title. It’s a little green zone with a chess table. There’s also a mobile radio station. Girls in the park explained to us that every student can give an advertisement or conduct an interview here. And the whole college town will hear it on the local radio!
Catherine: Alice decided to interview me, and I agreed.
Alice: Hello, dear listeners! Today we’re here live, the hosts of the show "The Sims Travelogue". I’m Alice McLaren, and here’s my co-host, Catherine Fielding!
Catherine: Hello!
Alice: Catherine, I want to ask you a few questions.
Catherine: Okay, I’ll be happy to answer.
Alice: The first one, how are you? Do you like being here, at university?
Catherine: Yes, I like it. I feel good.
Alice: And, what is your favorite part of being here?
Catherine: Studying, of course. I love to learn something new, and I have that possibility here.
Alice: Can you tell us what your major is?
Catherine: I’m in the Science & Medicine faculty, and I study very interesting information about anatomy and plants.
Alice: It’s nice to hear that! Do you want to add something else?
Catherine: I think I can add that we’re making the show about the university now. And you can learn more about our impressions of the college there.
Alice: Yes, join our blog, we’ll be glad to have you!
Catherine: We finished the interview and then went home. We needed to rest until the next day.
Catherine: After waking up in the morning, we decided to go to the library. We had enough time for this before the lectures. Besides, we needed some knowledge for exams, which we didn’t find in the books given to us.
Alice: The Howard Memorial Library is big and beautiful both outside and inside. We discovered long rows of bookshelves there! There’re many comfortable places for reading and also some computers with free internet.
Catherine: It seems I found a necessary book there. And you, Alice?
Alice: It’s more comfortable for me to read in electronic form. I see something useful in the local database. I think I’ll stay at this computer.
Catherine: Okay, I’ll sit there.
Alice: We started to study our materials. Meanwhile, a couple of students interrupted their reading and kissed in a secluded corner of the library. And we cannot judge them!
Alice: But it wasn’t enough for them just to make out. Then they started a protest! The girl ranted about academic workload and demanded more free time for personal life and entertainment.
Catherine: We can understand them, but they chose a bad place for the protest! The girl shouted into a megaphone right here, in the library! It was unbearably loud and distracted us from learning. No, the library is for reading, and it requires quiet!
Alice: We had to leave the library because of the protest. But in any case, it was time to go to the lectures, and we hurried there.
Catherine: Today, we decided to work hard. Only two days left before the final exams, and we wanted to be ready for them. Alice and I agreed to meet after classes in the same place as on Monday.
Catherine: Hi again, Alice! How do you feel? You look tired.
Alice: Oh, I’m exhausted! Studying hard is obviously not for me! However, the professor encouraged my work in class. But I’m so stressed now that I need at least 8 hours to recover.
Catherine: I sympathize with you. I’m stressed too, although not as much. So, what are we going to do now? How do you want to relax?
Alice: I heard there’s a good swimming pool in town. Maybe we can go there?
Catherine: Yes, it’s a good idea. Let’s go!
Alice: Well, we are here. The place looks pretty nice. The nature around here is very beautiful!
Catherine: Yes, and the pool building looks good and modern too. I like this fountain near the entrance.
Alice: So, let’s go swimming?
Catherine: Yes! But first, let’s have a snack at a local coffee shop!
Alice: Sure, of course!
Catherine: We had a bite, drank coffee, and then went swimming. The pool was good and clean, and the twilight atmosphere was calming.
Alice: We swam a bit, and then each of us found something to do to our liking. Catherine took an air mattress and lay down on the water to relax. I met Tiffany again, whom we met on the first day. Tiffany and I competed in breath-holding contest, and I won!
Catherine: In other word, we had a good time in the pool. Then we came back home. We’ll tell you about our last days at college in our next release. And now we have to say good night!
Alice: Hello, dear friends! Welcome back to our show, “The Sims Travelogue”! Today we’re starting a journey to a new place.
Catherine: This trip won’t be like the previous ones. We’ll spend a whole week in this town. And we will not only explore locations, but also study a lot! That’s because we’re going to university!
Alice: We’ll try to show and describe all the interesting features of the university town to you. So, let’s go with us!
Catherine: Before going to the town, we both passed the aptitude test. So we knew something about our abilities and skills in different areas of knowledge.
Alice: After the test, we got recommendations about which majors we should choose. My highest result was in the Fine Arts major. Well, my work as a cook wasn’t in vain!
Catherine: And I had the highest result in the Science & Medicine major. I think my special interests in Egyptology and burial culture played a role.
Alice: We listened to the recommendations and chose majors according to our results. I applied to the Fine Arts degree, and Catherine to the Science & Medicine degree.
Catherine: Then we chose duration and intensity of our course. We preferred the fewest number of credits and terms, just to get introduced with the university and its possibilities. So we’ll have enough time to visit different places, not only the academic buildings.
Alice: After this we needed to choose a place to live. I wanted to stay in dorm to feel university vibes better. But Catherine said a firm NO.
Catherine: Yes, I had a little experience studying in college and living in a dorm in the past. And I know that dorms are awful for me. Too many people and too much movement, too little calm and personal space. It’s a huge source of sensory overload for me, so I prefer to take care about myself and choose something better.
Alice: Of course, the director and I don’t want Catherine to have a meltdown. That’s why we decided to rent a house. It’s small but private. We preferred a house close to the academic buildings, so we’ll spend a less time commuting to lectures.
Catherine: We arrived here on Sunday, one day before the beginning of classes. Now we can look around and see where we ended up. Let’s start with our house review!
Alice: The first space inside is a kitchen and living room together. The kitchen is simple, but it has everything most necessary.
Catherine: On the left side of the room, we see an area for relaxing and studying. There’re two sofas, a bookshelf, and a desk. It’s good that there’s a place for our laptop!
Catherine: Also, the home has a small bathroom and one shared bedroom. And… that’s all. It’s not much, but it'll do for a week.
Alice: Besides, we got some free educational materials from our university. As a Fine Arts student, I received a drawing tutorial and a sketchbook.
Catherine: I also received a book, but about biology. And the second thing, which is really cool — it’s an anatomy skeleton. It’s life-size and looks very realistic! I decided to call him Morty! Alice, can I put Morty in the bedroom?
Alice: No. I might be scared if I wake up at night!
Catherine: Well, okay. I’ll leave him here, in the kitchen.
Alice: Okay, thank you.
Alice: These aren’t the last freebies for us. The college also lent us backpacks and bicycles. It will be comfortable to use them to get around the academic campus!
Catherine: So, we have to use them here for the first time. We’re going to the University Quad and some other places which we can look during the day.
Alice: Well, we arrived at the University Quad. It’s the local main square surrounded by the most important college buildings. Here, we can see a monument in honor of the university founder.
Catherine: Also, there’re some plants, a chess table, and a big fountain here. It’s a nice place to meet and relax between classes.
Alice: Look, there’s a guitar for everyone here! I’ll try to play; I’ve learnt a little.
Catherine: Alice played not badly, but she didn’t have the chance to keep going. We heard an announcement by speakerphone about the University Meet & Greet. It was a necessary meeting at the Student Union, so we hurried there.
Alice: The main activity was at the second floor, so we went there first. We saw a few stands with things that the college has to offer.
Catherine: For example, we took our class schedules. We both will have lectures at the same time on Monday and Wednesday. Also, we’ll have practical activities on Thursday. And we’ll take the final exams at the end of the week, on Friday.
Alice: Besides, we also saw some freebies here: sports games, soda drinks, and sweets. We decided to take a flying disk. I also tried a candy.
Catherine: Well, Alice, what does it taste like?
Alice: Honestly, awful! I didn’t enjoy it one bit. But at least, I hope to get some energy from the sugar.
Catherine: I think I want something sweet too, but of better quality. Look, there are some coffee kiosks here! I’ll go and buy a snack there.
Alice: Do you like it, Catherine?
Catherine: Yes, this muffin is wonderful! I think I’ll buy something at such a kiosk quite often.
Alice: Good. I think, I’ll do it too.
Catherine: Yes, it’s better to pay a bit more for something worthwhile.
Alice: So, let’s check, what else is here. Oh, I see some games! Shall we play ping-pong?
Catherine: Sure!
Catherine: After this, we went to the first floor. We wanted to see self-study rooms of the Student Union.
Alice: The first one is a computer lab. We liked it. There’re not only modern computers here, but even VR glasses!
Catherine: In the next room, we saw equipment for scientific studies.
Alice: There’s also a board for writing important things. But I think we can draw something here too!
Catherine: Also, we found a big lecture hall. Unfortunately, there wasn’t a lecture today. I would have listened to it with great interest!
Alice: Catherine, I think you can give a lecture yourself while there’s nobody here! Come on, tell me something!
Catherine: Well, okay. Hmm, what can I say? Science! Science is a very useful thing. It helps us in our daily life and leads us to progress. But it’s also very dangerous. It can destroy a lot if people aren’t careful! It’s important to keep balance in everything, in science and in life!
Alice: Great! Golden words! Applause for Catherine!
Catherine: Oh, thank you so much. Thank you!
Alice: The event in the Student Union came to an end, and we went to the next place. We visited the closest dorm to the University Quad. Since we aren’t going to live in a dorm, we should take a look at what it is like.
Catherine: I agreed to do this, because I’m able to survive one evening there. And I think it will be an interesting investigation.
Catherine: Well, the first impression is good. The living room is spacious and looks elegant. And I like these sofas here.
Alice: Now let’s see their kitchen. Hmm, I would add more counter space so that several people could cook here. But on the whole, it’s good!
Catherine: And here is the dining room. I like it. Everything is simple but tasteful and comfortable.
Alice: Then we found a recreation room. It’s a place where students can relax, watch TV, or play on a game console. There we met and chatted a bit with Tiffany. She lives here and studies at the Physical Education faculty. Really nice girl!
Catherine: We saw also a computer lab on the first floor. But there was a heated scientific discussion between two students, so we decided not to interrupt them. We went to the second floor to look at the bedrooms.
Alice: Most of them are pretty big and cozy. There’re even fireplaces in some of them!
Catherine: But these rooms have at least two disadvantages. First, the walls here are too thin. I could hear every noise from the neighbors. And second, rooms are designed not for one, but for two. I prefer to have more private space.
Alice: We found the only one single room in the dorm. It’s occupied by an art student.
Catherine: It makes sense - solitude is important for creativity! I think I could live in such room if I needed to stay in a dorm. But a private house is better in any case, even if the bedroom is shared.
Alice: We found a couple more common spaces in the dorm. For example, there’s a good gym here. We also liked the billiard table on the second floor.
Catherine: After inspecting the whole dorm, I needed some alone time to relax. That’s why I went to the kitchen and made a cup of tea.
Alice: And I wanted to socialize with students a bit more. I met another Physical Education student; his name is Anoki. I chatted and exchanged contacts with him. I hope we’ll meet with him and Tiffany during the next week!
Alice: We found one more cozy area in the dorm. It’s a big backyard with a fire pit. We think it’s a good place to rest before going home. So, how is your first day here, Catherine?
Catherine: Fine. I feel pretty good, not even exhausted. And I’m very interested in studying over the next few days. It will be great to learn something new!
Alice: I agree, I’m looking forward to it too! I’ll be glad for new impressions – and new knowledge, of course! So, let’s say goodbye to our viewers and go home to prepare for tomorrow!
