arro has a sims 3 camera mod for paralives
Thank you! Glad there's an entirely free alternative. :)
Current Sims 4 project is aging up all the townie kids into teens and giving them a quick makeover, so that I can MCCC paste them in as needed for my saves.
Slowly learning the ropes of Paramaker, so here's Harper & Isabella take two. Saw a tip that if you edit the skintone you can reduce the blush (or match it to entirely remove it), and it's a gamechanger for me.
Also downloaded the stabilized camera mod + one that lets you tilt the camera more, and those both seem to be helping, so going to give livemode another crack and see if I can do the community bundles, then maybe turn aging on and test out having a kid.
Paralives Thoughts:
My main motivation for picking it up this early was to take advantage of the sale price (a 40$ USD game is a 60$ CAD game after taxes, and I don't quite think it's worth a 60$ price tag yet lol), so my plan is to wait until some further updates to really get into playing, as there's not quite enough content to keep me interested in live mode just yet.
I like the social card system a little more after playing around with it, though I'd still like to have more control over how my Paras interact. I'm a very micromanage-y life sim player, which is why Sims 4 clicks so well for me. Something that I really like, though, is the little story cards you can pick from each evening. It's a nice mix of being in control, while giving the game an opportunity to throw you something.
Paramaker has some nice customization, but the controls are definitely going to be a bit of a learning curve! Looking forward to seeing what other content they add to it; it's a bit lacking at the moment but the amount of customizing you can do with colours/layering and such definitely helps.
Really interested in digging into buildmode, but I'm struggling with the camera controls, so I'm considering just waiting for TwistedMexi's Sims 3 style camera mod to become public access. Can't quite figure out how to do things like turn on the grid yet, so I think I'll also benefit from waiting for some guides to come out so that I'm a little less lost.
As for the art style, I'm personally a fan of the illustrative look and I think it adds a lot of personality, though I disagree with their creative decision to not have the linework on objects/surroundings because I think it'd look a little more cohesive, haha. I do think an option to tone down the lineart on the Paras would also be nice to have, as it can be a little harsh at times - as an example, I wasn't able to tone down the linework/shading on one of my Para's chests unless I made her entirely flat-chested.
The world is gorgeous, I love the verticality of the town with all the different levels, and much like buildmode I'm excited to properly explore it once I get my hands on a camera mod (or just learn how to use the camera better.)
Overall I think it looks promising, and I'm excited to see how it develops in the future. I don't think it'll ever fully replace the Sims 4 for me, as I still very much enjoy my gameplay there, but that's perfectly okay with me! (That doesn't mean I'm not hoping they'll eventually add some paranormal gameplay down the road, though...)
Think I need to put the game down until some guides are out because I'm hitting a point where I can't tell if things are not working because of user error or because they're buggy...
edit: it was user error I didn't make the desk big enough lol
I feared the card social system was going to make romancing trickier, but giving one of them the good at romancing trait definitely seems to help.
I do like the chance system for socials failing, that's fun as I feel like they overwhelmingly succeed in the sims, but not a huge fan of having your scope of available social interactions be limited to 3 choices.
alright time to see what paralives is about
I am so fucking sick of AI enshittification. What do you mean I have to switch from the search engine I've been using since childhood because Google decided that I'd be better off talking to an AI chatbox than parsing search results with my own fucking brain
Incredible things are happening on my Tomodachi island.
mii!Jeff introducing himself to mii!Alec: do you think we are in love in every universe
yessss
Harper and Isabella have made it in too, and then the rest of my island is made up of Stardew singles, so I've been blogging it over @pixelatedfarmhouse
Some paraverse miis! Won't be making too many more posts about tomodachi life here, but wanted to share these guys because I think Andy turned out so stinking cute.
They're all sectioned off onto their own little island at the moment, and Jeff has immediately fallen for Alec.
I have owned this game for 3 days and it has consumed all of my free time
The Paraverse: A Quick Reintroduction!
I've picked up quite a few new followers over the past 2 updates (which is a little wild to me), and that's got me thinking it might be a good time to post a quick re-introduction so those new followers know exactly what they've just signed themselves up for.
The Paraverse is a rotational save that's centered around a group of occult sims. I'm currently playing my 24th rotation in-game, and about to post the 22nd rotation, which sees the first generation of kids heading off to university.
A full index of all my previous posts can be found on this page here, and it includes introductory posts for the founding sims, newcomers, and a recap after the 10th rotation. There are tags for reading the full thing in one go (do not recommend that at this point lol), reading all the posts pertaining to certain families, or reading each set of updates.
With the next generation about to take over, I'll be making a set of introductory/bios posts for each of them to cover their current traits, aspirations, degrees, and et cetera. For those of who you have been reading along from the start, this marks the point where the original founding sims are going to fall out of focus, but in the interest of still keeping up with them, each rotation will feature a catch-up post covering one of those sims/families.
It's been a busy term for both Waverly and Victoria, but they manage to end it with perfect GPAs!
