Steam Next Fest Diary | Magical Villages, Cozy Bakeries, and Things That Go Bump in the Night | Part 2
When I sat down yesterday to write Part 1 of my Next Fest diary, I thought I had a pretty good idea of which games would end up on my wishlist.
Then I played a few more demos...
And as it turns out, Next Fest had a few surprises left in store for me. From managing a village with the help of hidden spirits to running a cozy bakery and getting hopelessly stuck in a puzzle platformer, the second half of my Next Fest adventure turned out to be just as memorable as the first.
Steam Next Fest Diary | My First Four Demo Discoveries | Part 1
Every Steam Next Fest starts the same way.
I tell myself I'm only going to download a few demos.
Then suddenly my wishlist is overflowing, my storage space is disappearing, and I'm telling myself "just one more demo" at two o'clock in the morning.
This year has been no different.
Over the past few days I've been exploring everything from vampire farming sims to ghost stories and even a platformer where you play as a flower pot. Here are the first four games that stole my attention during Steam Next Fest.
Paralives Early Access First Impressions: Charming, Creative, and Full of Potential
When I first heard about Paralives years ago, it felt almost too good to be true.
A life simulation game developed by a small independent team, promising deep customization, creative building tools, and features that life sim fans have been requesting for years? It sounded ambitious to say the least.
Now that Paralives has finally entered Early Access, I spent some time diving in to see whether it lives up to the hype.
The short answer?
I think Paralives has an incredible foundation, but it's still very much an Early Access game.
The Wholesome Direct 2026: My Thoughts, Highlights, and Cozy Game Wishlist
The Wholesome Direct has become one of my favorite gaming showcases. While the majority of the major industry events tend to focus on AAA releases and flashy trailers the Wholesome Direct always feels like a celebration of creativity and comfort. It showcases the kinds of games that remind me of why I fell in love with gaming.
This year's showcase was packed with charming art styles, cozy adventures, and a few surprises that found their way onto my wish list.
I thought it would be fun to share a few thoughts on the showcase and the games that stood out to me.

I am so excited for the 1.0 release so I can marry my dragon boyfriend. Who are we all marrying first? & why do I feel like it is the grumpy redhead?

🎷 The Crescent Note 🎷
Tucked deep within Crawdad Quarter, The Crescent Note is the heartbeat of Willow Creek after dark. Beneath the warm glow of vintage lights and the hum of old jazz records, locals gather for strong drinks, live music, and whispered secrets that linger long after midnight.
This moody jazz club blends New Orleans charm with occult-era elegance—perfect for storytellers, musicians, vampires, and anyone looking for a little magic in the city air. ✨
🎺 Lounge seating 🎹 Live performance stage 🍸 Intimate bar area 🕯️ Rich, atmospheric interiors 🌙 Lore-friendly for occult saves MoveObjects ON before placing. Gallery ID: pixelplaysgames

I just posted a full tour of my first-ever Animal Crossing: New Horizons island—my Alice in Wonderland–inspired world that I built during the pandemic.
This island meant so much to me. ACNH has been a part of my gaming life since the GameCube days (back when the villagers were actually rude 💀), and Wonderland was the place where I poured all my creativity, chaos, and comfort when the world felt upside-down.
It blends my lifelong love of Alice in Wonderland (I literally have a full sleeve of tattoos!) with the cozy magic of Animal Crossing. There’s a mushroom power plant, a tea party forest, an underground subway, card guards, villager neighborhoods… even a ramen shop run by the Carpenter.
If you love themed builds, nostalgia, or just want a cozy escape, the video is up now. 🌙 Dream Address included 🎨 Custom design info inside

ACNH Episode 3 — Bridges, Villagers, & the Great Peach Panic
Briarwood is growing fast… and maybe just a little chaotically.
In Episode 3 of my Animal Crossing: New Horizons series, we dive head-first into one of the biggest early-game tasks: prepping all three new housing plots. Along the way we get stung by wasps (ouch), rescue a very dramatic Gulliver, meet new villagers (hi Bianca and Pudge!!), and celebrate a few island milestones — including our first bridge ceremony and the grand opening of the museum.
If you love ACNH storytelling, nature-core vibes, and slightly unhinged island building energy, you’ll feel right at home here. 🌿✨

are we not feeling very pious today, brother lionel
I thought my last island was going to be my forever island… but then the Animal Crossing 3.0 update happened 😅
So, welcome to Briarwood — an overgrown fairytale forest where magic lingers, moss grows, and cozy chaos reigns. 🌿✨
I’ve been dreaming up some fun lore for this island, and I can’t wait to share it here on Tumblr — little pieces of Briarwood’s history, its people, and the stories hidden between the trees. 🌸
🎥 Episode 1: Restarting My Island for the Animal Crossing 3.0 Update | Welcome to Briarwood 🌿 is now live on YouTube!
& look forward to episode 2 coming in the near future!
