Hiatus... Again

TW / CW: Hospital, Surgery, Seizure (Under Cut)

I'm not sure when I'll be back this time, but a lot of personal issues have come up in the past month (Not all related). If you would like to know specifics, I've provided under the cut, if not- I'll see you when I get back to more stable waters.

My grandfather fell and hit his head, suffering a brain bleed. They were unable to do surgery for a few days due to his religion preventing him from receiving any blood/blood related things. We were basically told that he was going to die and there was nothing they could do to relieve the pressure sans surgery. Thankfully his platelet counts got back up on it's own and they felt comfortable enough to proceed with the surgery. He was unconscious for a while after, only physically responding to pain and having seizures. He did finally wake up yesterday, and has been talking coherently so we're optimistic about his recovery!

All of that to say, I've been a bit preoccupied and I'm not sure when I'll be able to get back into playing. I'll be helping my grandmother take care of him and their house (with my siblings) if/when he's released, but I don't have timeframe just yet.

Erato: Actually, that’s what I wanted to discuss. Your Abbu and I were talking and… we’re not as young as we used to be, Themis. We could be living our final-

Themis: Don’t say that. You and Abbu are as spry as ever, you’ve got another decade or two in you!

Erato: *Soft smile* Honey, we’re not going to live forever… we might not even make it 5 years. I’d like to spend what time I have left with family and your Abbu agrees. We wanted to see if you wouldn’t mind letting us stay with you? I can help around the house, Abbu can make you dinner, and we-

Themis: Mom, it’s fine, I wouldn’t mind at all! Just let me know what day you’ll be there and I’ll have the spare room ready for you guys.

Erato: Thank you, Themis. I’ll let Abbu know

Themis: Interesting… Can you tell me more about Grandma? You said she’d go on walks at night, did she do that often?

Erato: *Nods head* Sometimes my dad would accompany her, but most of the time she’d walk for hours at a time. She stopped going out as much when she had to take over my dedushka’s position.

Themis: What did she do for work?

Erato: … I don’t actually know. It was something business related, but I never thought to ask. Mom and Dad never really delved into what exactly they did. I’ll have to ask Thaleia, she works for the same company.

Themis: Is there a family business I don’t know about?

Erato: Yes, your cousin works there too, last I heard. I just wasn’t that interested in business, and my parents never expected us to take over. I should have at least given you the option, though.

Themis: *Shakes head* I like what I’m doing now. Let me know what Aunt Leia says, though. Any information on those three would be appreciated, so if you happen to recall anything else give me a call.

Themis: When you went to do the interview with her, did you happen to also meet with Orpheus? He was mentioned but not quoted.

Erato: I did… It wasn't a pleasant first meeting.

Themis: That was the first time you met? He’s your Uncle, though

Erato: He is- was. But he and my mother had a very… difficult relationship, to say the least.

Themis: So I’ve heard. What did he say?

Erato: It’s been quite a few years, so forgive me if I don’t recall exactly what he said… He sort of blew up when I mentioned how we were related. Eurydice had to calm him down enough to even let me inside. I did the interview with her, she didn’t have any memory of her death or her time undead, she just wanted us to meet since we’re family. Orpheus escorted me out and my mother happened to be on a shopping trip-

Themis: What an odd coincidence-

Erato: *Shrugs* She was an odd person. She took a lot of walks out, especially at night. She’d say it was when the streets were the most quiet and she had some time to herself. I didn’t think much of it at the time. Anyway, it was like a switch flipped back to anger the minute he saw her. He was shouting, accusing me of doing something to Eurydice, and didn’t believe me when I told him the truth. He said something like “Leave us alone. I haven’t said anything. Stop making me look crazy.” I can’t really remember, that’s all that stands out in my mind. I'm sorry, honey.

Themis: It’s fine, Mom, you’re being really helpful. Did he explain why he’d say things like that?

Erato: *Shakes head* I didn’t get the chance to ask him directly. My mother and I left after that, but she said that it’s because she pushed him to hate her when they were little so anything that went wrong in his life he blamed her for which includes Eurydice’s death

Erato: Thanks for stopping by, Sweetheart. It feels like I haven’t seen you in years!

Themis: *Chuckles* Mom, it’s only been a couple weeks

Erato: I know, I just miss my kids… What did you want to talk to me about? I had something I wanted to discuss too, but that can wait.

Themis: I wanted to discuss Eurydice. I found out you wrote an article about her and I need some information for a case

Erato: What would you like to know?

Jupiter: What’s next on the agenda?

Themis: Get with the client about the digital copy, see if they would set up a meeting with Eurydice, and… *Smirks* I happen to have a contact who knew Styx and did an interview with Eurydice.

Jupiter: *Furrows Brows* But I thought there was only one interview with her?

Themis: *Grins* Yep. And I happen to be very close with the writer of that interview. So hopefully she’ll be able to help out.

Jupiter: *Huffs* You sure are full of surprises… And good connections

Themis: It’s good to have someone keep you on your toes, Shrugs or so I’ve heard… See you later, Jay

Jupiter: *Smiles* Good night, Themis

Jupiter: Am I right to assume that those dates weren’t put on a device with a date and time stamp?

Themis: Not sure, I was just given a printed copy of everything… I didn’t even think to ask if there were any digital copies to dig into! I’ll ask my client. I’m not too tech literate, but I know someone who is. That’s actually really helpful, Jupiter!

Jupiter: That’s what I’m here for. And, call me Jay

Themis: *Playful Eye Roll* Fine, if you’re gonna twist my arm like that, I guess I have no choice. Smiles Thanks, Jay

Neptune: Why are you thanking him? What did I miss?

Jupiter: *Slowly Turns Head* The last brain cell that gave you the ability to read the room

Themis: *Chuckles* There was one interesting thing that could be useful. There were dates of the days that Styx snuck out that correlates with robberies in the area, including one at an Art Museum. There was an article that she had assisted the police on that one, though.

Jupiter: But doesn’t that mean that there might be some weight to those other dates if she was at least placed at the scene of the crime at the museum?

Themis: Maybe, but all we have is Orephues’s word about the other dates. I can’t verify any other date except for that one.

Neptune: Yeah, he could have found out about unsolved robberies in the area and then retroactively wrote them down as dates Styx sn- Ah, hey there! What can I get you to drin-

Themis: So, I read the police file and the documents my client gave me.

Jupiter: What’d you find?

Themis: Not shit. Well, nothing useful that would lead to a concrete conclusion. I know they said that Orpheus couldn’t find much evidence, but it was just sad. The police report just confirmed what I already knew, which is that it was ruled an accident with no traces of foul-play. Orpheus’s was a list of alleged verbal threats Styx made to him, one physical assault, and he was very convinced that Styx and her husband were only in a relationship to cover up their crimes; his evidence for that last one: he lied about helping the husband pick out a ring and they didn’t call him out on it.

Neptune: So all you really have is him confessing to lying to his sister who he’s trying to put the blame of his wife’s death on? Cool, super convinced that he’s not the killer.

Jupiter: Conclusions, man, stop jumping to them.

Themis: Hey, boys. Thanks for coming, Jupiter. Neptune, I know you’re here against your will.

Neptune: *Chuckles* Please, end my suffering.

Jupiter: I got you a Fan Fizz. That’s what you were ordering last time, right?

Themis: Yep. Though, I’m not sure if I should be flattered or creeped out that you remembered.

Jupiter: I hope flattered. You made an impression on me

Themis: *Sarcastically* Then, I’m very flattered

Tethys: I hope your investigation goes well. Let me know if you need any assistance, I can always lend an ear.

Themis: I’ve got that covered. I made some new friends at the bar after you guys abandoned me *Playful Pout*

Tethys: *Abashed Smile* I’ll make it up to you!

Themis: If you’ve got time now, you can help me go through these. Muse said there wasn’t a lot of evidence so it’ll probably just be Orpheus’s theories and firsthand accounts. I may not need an ear but I could use a hand?

Tethys: *Laughs* Of course!

Tethys: *Small smile* It was a little awkward at first… We’ve video chatted before, but it’s just so… different in person. Not-not in a bad way, it’s just so weird seeing him, someone I’ve only ever talked to through a screen, in front of me. It got better once we started talking over dinner. I didn’t stutter or make a fool of myself, we just talked like we normally do but now I could see all the details I could never see before. *Dreamy Sigh* Then we went to the beach-

Themis: -Of course

Tethys: *Giggles* And we just sat and watched the waves, discussed the future and what we want in life. It was better than what I dreamed of! I- I really like him, Themis.

Themis: *Smiles* I’m happy for you, Tee.

Tethys: Have you looked at the stuff Muse gave you?

Themis: Not yet, I wanted to see what the official report said first. I was gonna tackle that today.

Tethys: Oh, then I should probably get going-

Themis: Not until you tell me how your date went. *Grins* That’s why you stopped by, right?

Tethys: *Blush* I didn’t realize you’d be working. I don’t want to bother-

Themis: Tell me everything.

Themis: *Mumbling* -No signs of arson… no accelerants used… ruled an accident. *Sigh* Great, it’s useless. ‘But I guess that was expected’

*Door opens*

Tethys: Hey, it’s me. Hope I’m not interrupting?

Themis: Nah, I was just reading over the police file for a new case.

Tethys: Oh, yeah, you were saying something about that! What’s it about, you sounded excited?

Themis: Well-

Themis: I thought you said you’d have the file prepared? I had to sit for, like, half an hour waiting for someone to get a copy!

Nike: I did have it prepared. I told them to dispose of the copy if I left before you arrived. I took time out of my day to have that ready for you, the minimum you could have done was show up at the agreed time.

Themis: Come on, Keke, I just had a late start to the day. I don’t have 30 minutes to be wasting-

Nike: And yet you’re still on the phone with me. You have the files you wanted. I am busy *Hangs up*

Themis: Nike- *Sigh* I don’t know why I still try arguing with them

Themis: ‘Jupiter and Neptune Felice… 22; not much older than me… No criminal record, thankfully… let’s check Simstagram… Aww, Neptune’s a family man. His kids are too cute. That must be Salacia; or maybe they have a sis- nope definitely his wife’

Themis: *Whispers* Let’s hope Jupiter’s isn’t too bad… ‘Looks like he hasn’t posted in over 5 months… His pictures don’t look ter-’ *Snorts* Such a dork. ‘It’s cute… and there’s no partner in sight’
