Here’s a picture I was given of Chuck playing skeeball!

Starting at 17:47 in this video (assuming the embedded timestamp doesn’t work, thanks a lot, Tumblr), we can see a now-defunct Country Bear Jamboree knockoff… starring monkeys! Very, very well made animatronic monkeys, in all honesty. This show was located at Avonturenpark Hellendoorn, and titled “MAGIC MONKEY SHOW”.
Seriously, the animatronics in this are amazing; you can see their lips arching up in certain areas, their eyebrows can furrow, their motions are very vast, they cease to disappoint! I’d love to know who built them and what became of them when the ride closed. I think this guy is probably my favorite:
If anybody has info on this show or, more importantly, if anyone can translate some of the songs/dialogue for us, we’d be more than grateful! These guys do NOT deserve to be lost to time. They’re just too awesome! (I think I hear “Bei Mir Bistu Shein” at one point from a trio of monkeys, or it could just be something to the same tune? I have no clue.)

oooh wow what an interesting show! I have some info.
I read it was made by German company Hofmann Figures. It was first at a German theme park called Phantasialand and called ‘the Klimbimskis’. Then in 1989 it moved to Avonturenpark Hellendoorn and was renamed 'The Hellendoorn Magical Monkey Show’. They got rid of it in 2003 and it’s whereabouts are now unknown. (I really hope it wasn’t destroyed) (xx//xx)
Laffing Sal at the Santa Cruz Boardwalk
_______________
Seeing Sal in good shape always puts me in a good mood! It’s sad how many people don’t appreciate her just because they find her uncanny. I totally understand why, but that’s still no reason to wish harm on her, especially with what a unique piece of history she is. :(

Mitzi cheers for you 💚
The Rancor in “Return of the Jedi” was a tiny puppet.
Take a look at this “making of” feature below, narrated by Carrie Fisher in the 1980s. Notice that the eerie music below was actually made by Rinder and Lewis (the two great unsung geniuses of the synthesizer era, who have unjustly and criminally been consigned to total oblivion - recently I saw their greatest songs had under 1000 plays on Spotify) for the television series “In Search Of…” full of buzzes, shrieks, and mystery.

Content alert! To those interested in old movie-effect animatronics, the series “Movie Magic” contains plenty! Here’s two animatronic-specific segments:
This one’s about water-based animatronics:
And here’s the whole playlist/series, for those interested! There’s lots of animatronics and various related effects, so its worth a watch!
