After years of watching me play mystic messenger my boyfriend randomly decided to try playing. He wanted jaehee's route but got yoosung because he "likes and defended video games too much" he cannot stand jumin and thinks that Elizabeth III is basically jaehee's cat because of how often she cat sits. He has an elaborate theory about how rika blinded v when he murdered her (he's sure it wasn't suicide). I cannot stress enough how I have info dumped the entire plot of this game to him multiple times. He retained none of it and is somehow managing a blind playthrough in our year 2026. Even the emails he's not looking up with an accuracy of ~75%. He's currently on day 10 and said "see, yoosung's fine, he sent a picture of him winking at me!" This has to be in the top 5 things that've happened to me
I think it's fascinating to watch someone else play for the first time. It's the same twisted satisfaction you get when you convince your friend to watch Fullmetal Alchemist. You know what they're going to stumble on, but you need to see how they react when they get to the major reveals! I wonder how he'll feel once he manages to figure out the truth about V and Rika later on.
I'm impressed he's getting the emails mostly right, though. I have to double-check some of them now and again when I'm playing in Casual and Deep Route since I don't replay those as often, except for Longcat. I've memorized Longcat's answer and never get it wrong. However, I'm giggling because... well... Yoosung...
I always remember my friend telling me that watching me play Mystic Messenger for the first time was really *something*... I wouldn't accept any existing theories and kept coming up with all sorts of questionable ones—like Saeran being Rika's younger brother. I mean, I was partially right, just not about the right person.
Then I remember the elaborate theory I had about Rika having a twin sister whom V had likely killed, so she was out for revenge against him lmao.
may i pls request for the GE system as dads on their kids first day of school? or at school events? would any of them be PTA dads? hahaha (i think ray would volunteer to help with costumes for the school play)
GE Ray would adore piecing together costumes for their school plays. I imagine he has a great time being a part of the whole process. He never got to experience anything like that as a child... granted, he never was a child in the traditional sense, but you know what he means. There are a lot of moving parts to stage production, so I could see him reaching out to Zen for advice, too.
It's one thing to make a costume for a school play; it's another when you consider that someone needs to be able to move around in it, not just sit at a tea party. This isn't the only thing Ray would do for his kids, but it's definitely one of the defining features. Even if they have a small role in the story, he wants them to think of themselves as important. It doesn't matter how small something is. Even the tiniest bug keeps the world's ecosystem alive, you know!
GE Suit Saeran is the bake sale Papa. He puts a lot of time and energy into his craft, and I could see him easily getting into a rivalry with some of the other parents about it. What do you mean that your sour lemon squares were more popular than his sweet fruit tarts? You've opened a door that he's going to close, Mr. Park! Don't think you're going to beat him with those raisin cookies, Mrs. Lee!
Don't worry, everything he makes that isn't up to his competition standards but is still more than delicious will be donated to his children and their friends. I imagine no child goes hungry at his kids' school. He isn't the type to stop until he's certain everything is taken care of, after all. That's a protector for you!
GE Saeran is definitely the first to volunteer for field trips. He's the one who wants to take photos of everything they do to showcase everyone's exciting adventure. Don't worry, he won't limit himself to being behind the viewfinder all the time, but it's worth saying that he loves knowing there is evidence of not only his joy, but his children's as well. He does not have any photos from when he was a little boy apart from whatever Rika and V gave to Saeyoung.
His brother isn't in those photos, either. He doesn't get to look back at their joyful little moments between the chaos. That's not gonna happen to his children, though. They will always be able to look back on their happiest days, both in their mind and on paper, because he wants to be the one to open that door for them.

He does make a point of checking in with you when he wants to know your thoughts on something, but he hardly offers the same luxury to anyone else. He will hang over your every. last. word. Unless he's frantic, you're the exception to the rule when he speaks up.
He uses ^^ to signify his smile. You'll notice that a lot of his messages are proposed as questions because he NEEDS validation.
Suit Saeran has a flair for dramatics, as you know, but I (and many of my friends) refer to him as the Hehe man. Of all of them, he uses hehe the most when sending messages in the chatroom. Not haha, lol, lmao, or any other quirk. He types hehe at varying lengths and assumes that's the most evil laugh someone can conjure online.
He uses long pauses when he speaks (something that carries over to GE Saeran when he's making dry jokes) to build anticipation. He also fixates on validation, but it's tangled up in his desire to be seen as strong so you and Ray aren't killed by Rika. His questions aren't framed the same as Ray's, but they have the same general flair.
GE Saeran has an amalgamation of Ray and Suit Saeran's typing styles. He doesn't use ^^ as a smile. He draws new emojis to help convey what he's feeling instead.
