honestly i think that was the best keynote theyve ever done?
only problem for me is it seems pretty clear theyre going to drop reborn eventually. it's almost a holy shit two cakes situation, but with them committing to saying evolved is generally better 9 months before release they are not even pretending here. like they definitely would have said theyre equal if they wanted them both to stick around, even if they werent able to balance it that way.
also the evolved supports just look lame. whm already had dps neutral gcd heals. pld already had a parry window on short cd mit. you guys are rehashing existing solutions. designing tanks for a specific position is bad design we did that already
but i'm down for the removal of the 2 minute meta, i can feel how it affects fight design and it has led to some really awful job redesigns. but i dunno if theyre gonna be able to make fights dynamic. my hope is 'fuckfest bullet hell' inbetween mechanics to justify these 1 button combos
and ping becomes an even bigger issue with most jobs having continuation for their ogcds. im only on 120 ping and continuation/my mudras sometimes fuck me over. hopefully there will be netcode improvements as part of 8.0, but as it stands it doesnt seem like there will be many ping safe jobs. if modders can let you double weave at 200 ping then squeenix can figure it out inhouse.

i always think back to 3.5 when deciding how i feel about a pre-expansion patch story. the character animations sucked and they were using gmod-esque facerigging, but they still made ilberd really captivating there. like, baelsar's wall ilberd scene is an easy top 3 for me in the game.
