hey friends! love the site but i'm a bit worried about activity. i know it's early, but do you have any plans to drum up threads and such in the near future?

hey!

we’re not particularly worried just yet, because a lot of people are taking time to get their multiple characters set up / also dealing with school / etc.

also as far as i’m concerned like, admins aren’t in charge of making people thread, they’re in charge of facilitating an environment where people want to thread, and i think we’re doing okay in that department so far.

that said, we do have plans for an event or two and some more guided development kinda things!

if you have any thoughts on what else we could be / should be doing, let us know!!

hey everyone~ i love the site idea and it's just a really beautifully coded site. but i feel like multiple claims on faces tends to make the amount of white/white-passing faces vs. poc faces more disproportionate (than usual). i just wonder if anyone thought about this beforehand and decided to go ahead or just assumed the claims would even out eventually

firstly, thank you very much! that is down entirely to pixie and mitchie, who are coding geniuses. 

we are aware that is was potentially an issue, and it was one of the main issues that was raised when we were initially asking people for their opinions on the multiples idea. but what we said then was that this was an issue that wouldn’t be resolved by not having multiples. even without multiples people would have found other white/white passing faces to use, if the faces they originally wanted to use weren’t available. we are all guilty of doing that. if people want to use more diverse and poc faces, then they will, multiples or not. unfortunately there isn’t a whole lot we can do regarding this, as we can’t force people to make more poc faces. 

thank you for coming to us with this, and as i said this was something we were aware of prior to making the decision to use multiples, but as i said above, we decided that not having multiples wouldn’t improve the situation. it was also why we had our followers vote on the issue, and there was a large majority for multiples and we agreed that whatever our followers voted for was what we were going to go for. 

we are very away that there is a lot of white/white passing faces on the site and not many poc faces at the moment, and hopefully that will change, and if we can find ways to encourage people to use poc faces, then we will and we are open to any suggestions to help with this!

heads up guys, there is a very good chance we will be opening early (within the next hour or two). i know we said we weren’t going to do this, but the day we were planning to open is no longer gonna work for me (pixie), so we figured better earlier than later!

this will just be a low key opening, the staff don’t have all their character stuff finished yet, but we will get there!!! 

we’re just tidying the last few things up and then we’ll be ready to rumble.

oh the mightybell thing sounds cool!! could you guys explain a little more about it? i've never used it before. is it all in character? :D

hey pal! it is really, really cool.

it’s absolutely all in character, although we have an “out of character” topic (i will explain topics in a minute), so if you need to talk about anything you can post to that.

when you register, you fill in your character’s name, a profile picture, and a little blurb about them. you can also set their location and a website (i think the website is on the sign up page, if not you can edit it under settings - i have sage’s website set to be her tag on my blog).

once you’ve been approved by one of the hosts (which are all our admin character accounts), you’re in! it’s time to start posting, commenting and chatting in the live chat (which has options to chat with all members or to chat one on one, so it’s like having an ic cbox and having facebook messenger for your children).

you can make posts from the main page - treat these like facebook statuses. other people can cheer (like) or comment, just like on fb. you can also upload pictures with much the same result, only you can’t like, find everyone’s pictures by going to their photos page like on fb.

we as hosts can also set up “events”, so when it comes time to do awards shows or whatever, we might look into having designated live chat events to coincide with that stuff. we’re still figuring out the details.

topics work much like labels? they’re for sorting posts and stuff. we have a few topics set up (you’ll see them under topics in the lefthand side when you’re logged in) and basically, if you post in that “topic” it’ll have a little label underneath it and will be easy for other people to find if they click on the topics in the sidebar. we’ve set up topics for hottest couples, praising projects, discussing gossip, etc! if you have any suggestions of topics, there’s also a suggest a topic topic.

topics are gonna be useful for finding posts that disappear from the feed that should not disappear, because how cute is it to have your characters’ fangirl over other characters’ relationships and projects? 

if you have any other questions, let us know! i (pix) have a family issue to deal with at the moment so i will be unpredictable in my availability for a few days, but if the others don’t know how to answer (since i’m reigning mb pro) i will eventually be around to reply!

What timezones are you guys in?

i (mitchie) am in gmt +10, pixie is in gmt +12, hannah is in gmt +1, and fiona is also in gmt +1 i think? idk i’m not sure hahaha but most of us have pretty wonky sleeping schedules anyway!

yes. yes yes yes. using mightybell (which you should all use for future sites!!!), we’ve made basically a mini facebook for smile. you don’t need an actual email address to sign up (aside from my host account, all of my characters are [email protected] which is ... not a real thing). 

you can make posts, chat with other characters (both privately and as a whole community), upload photos, etc! so let’s have some wild fun!

please put who u are (as in ur actual name) somewhere on ur profile & only use pictures of faces you have reserved/someone else has reserved and ur twinning, etc.

your accounts currently need to be approved by me (pix) before you can join. afterwards, it might still direct you to /private? but just delete the private bit and you should be good!!
