okay so theres an episode of whats new scooby doo where the gang goes home on valentines day, and i guess the studio really wanted to avoid the implication that daphne and fred were sleeping together because daphne and velma live together and fred lives with shaggy and scooby
but that attempt at avoiding anything risque backfired spectacularly because now it just seems like daphne and velma are a comfortably domestic couple and fred is trying to learn how to live with his boyfriends over excitable and really hungry great dane
It’s far cuter like this anyway.

CBS' Kuhn: Democrats Groan, GOP Grins, As Nader Joins The Race
“In the 2000 presidential election in Florida, Nader won 97,488 votes, while Al Gore lost the state (and, therefore, the presidency) by 537 votes to Mr. Bush. In five other states this was also true.”
Epic troll job, but not 100% accurate. Here’s some other stats:
1) 308,000 Democrats in Florida voted for Bush, compared to 24,000 Democrats voting for Nader
2) 191,000 liberals in Florida voted for Bush, compared to less than 34,000 who voted for Nader
3) Gore lost the vote of white women by 9 points.
4) Many felons were denied the right to vote
5) Studies show that if Gore had asked for a full recount, he probably would have won Florida
6) 52% of voters nationwide either voted for third parties or did not vote at all, mostly the latter, so Gore had a wide pool to choose from, yet couldn’t pull 538 people into a voting booth in Florida
7) Gore didn’t even win his home state of Tennessee
Among other statistics, this shows that there were many reasons that Al Gore lost Florida, but 95% of those causes were Al Gore’s own fault. Blaming progressives for trying to change the system is extremely lazy and a fear tactic used my Democrats who don’t have any principles of their own to stand on. Maybe if the Democratic Party were actually progressive, they would be able to win progressive votes without stoking fears.
Besides, the President, regardless of party has limited powers and voting for President does not have to impact Congressional races, where the real action happens. The real incentive to vote for a third party candidate like Jill Stein or Gary Johnson is to get one to 5% of the national popular vote, or about 6-7 million votes (based on 2012 turnout and anticipated increases in turnout and voting population). This gives a party millions of dollars in federal campaign funding that they can use to build state parties and build viable alternatives. If both those parties succeed in getting 5%, then you can say goodbye to Republican and Democratic dominance as we know it by 2020. And the Greens and Libertarians would be able to do it without a lick of help from the corporate media.
Three other things:
1) Libertarians in recent years have polled higher than Greens nationwide and, with Cruz and Kasich dropping out, interest in the Libertarian Party has grown rapidly. Look at this article that says, “ Almost one in five Americans say they’d consider a third party candidate if the nominees were Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton.“ So even if a few votes here and there leave the Democratic Party, even more votes are leaving the Republican Party, so there would be almost no tangible difference hurting the Democrats.
2) Both the Green and Libertarian Parties could easily obtain 5% of the national popular vote without affecting the Electoral College at all. In most states in the U.S., including D.C., a Republican or Democrat will win by 10 points. In those states, either the Green Party or Libertarian Party can earn 10% of the vote that would go to the dominant party and only then would there be a difference. California and Texas alone could bring in huge numbers for the Green and Libertarian Parties, respectively. In addition, if the Greens and Libertarians earn away votes in equal numbers, then the margin between Republicans and Democrats stays the same regardless of the states. Eventually, if they earn away votes in equal numbers, those numbers will keep rising while the margin between Republicans and Democrats stays the same. If that happened in every state where both Greens and Libertarians are on the ballot, then those two would become the dominant parties just like that. Would the Democrats still be able to use their fear argument if they were running in third or fourth place in every state?
3) Don’t forget that there are a lot of moderate Republicans who would switch their vote to Hillary Clinton, which would make up way more ground than a realistic look at the Green Party would show. Even if Greens won the vote of 5% of Democrats, at least 5% of Republicans would surely vote for Hillary. As I said earlier, 308,000 Democrats voted for Gore in Florida in 2000, so party registration is not wholly indicative of ideology. Democrats can bear to lose a progressive 5% of voters, while Republicans can bear to lose a libertarian 5% of voters. Plus, if you factor in independent voters and those who wouldn’t vote otherwise, there’s an easy path to 5% for the Green and Libertarian Parties while Hillary maintains the margins she needs to (god forbid) become the President, no matter how detrimental her foreign policy will be to the rest of the world or how gutless her domestic policy is.
In conclusion, stop spreading disinformation, stop fearmongering, and definitely stop blaming progressives for trying to do away with our current system without the help of anyone other than libertarians.

hey guys psa regarding hospital bills
don’t just pay it. do not automatically pay the hospital bill when you receive it. call your health insurance provider and POLITELY say, “excuse me, i just received a bill for $1200 for my hospital visit/ER visit/etc., is that the correct amount i’m supposed to pay?” because hospitals bill you before your health insurance and they will take your money no matter how the amount due may change based on your health insurance looking at it. 90% of the time, if your health insurance is in any way involved in the payment of that bill, you do not have to pay as much as the hospital is billing you for. call your health insurance provider first, and POLITELY request clarification, always remember that the person you are talking to is human and this is just their job, and then you will very likely find out you actually only owe $500.
don’t shout at anyone about it, don’t get mad, just understand that this is The Way Things Are right now and call your health insurance provider before paying the bill your hospital just sent you. there’s a chance the hospital bill might be correct, true, but call your health insurance provider.
THIS IS SUPER IMPORTANT. after my car accident last year the hospital billed me ~$8000. They sent me letters asking me to pay, and I called them back saying my insurance was processing the claim. This is also what I told the collection agency when they kept calling me about the $1000 emergency room fee (billed separately from the hospital fee, mind you). Once everything got straightened out, all I was actually liable for was my $200 emergency copay.

Reblogging for American friends.
Also, it is important [for people receiving medical care in the USA] to carefully read all of the items on the medical bill and look for errors and overcharges. I know that the normal feelings of avoidance and dread can make it hard to look at scary hospital bills, and that’s okay! But as the OP mentions, private orgs like hospitals don’t monitor overpayment of bills - they are motivated to charge you extra - and it is basically impossible to get your money back. Read the bill carefully and make sure that the charges are correct, using the links below for help if you need. If they haven’t sent you an itemized list, you can ask for one. Sometimes you will be charged extra for items or treatment you didn’t receive. Most people don’t know that you can dispute medical bills! But in 2009, Consumer Reports stated that 8 out of 10 medical bills scrutinized by a watchdog had errors, and generally you are not obligated to pay for someone else’s error.
You may be charged for using medication that you actually brought into the hospital with you - that’s easy to dispute! You may be charged for the consumables used during your stay such as sheets, gloves, gowns, etc - the hospital should actually cover that under its running budget. You may be charged for a brand name drug if the generic was available for cheaper - the links below explain how and when you can dispute this. You may be charged a surprisingly expensive “oral administration fee” (where a nurse puts pills for you to take in a little clean paper cup and then hands it to you) but that’s worth disputing if you were actually able to take the pill out of a bottle and put it in your own mouth. And so on.
