Akk's "I'm not like you" isn't about internalized homophobia for me. he's saying "I'm not free like you. the world isn't just for me like it is for you." Aye embodies a different way of life- a different way of existing.
Akk looks at Aye like he's a waking dream, a secret wish somehow made real. he's lived in the dark for so long, it became home- and Aye is the blinding, beautiful, inescapable sun.
no wonder he's terrified.
