I wanted to say, the reason this blog has not updated much, is that I'm fairly secure right now in my sexuality. The purpose of this blog was to find my identity or come to terms with it or what have you. I have. I've also come out to a few more friends since then, one even guessed it!

It's not priority for me right now to know if I want a romantic relationship, I'm happy as I am right now, and there are no prospects I see, so I'm not going to worry about it. Whoever they are, they'd have to be okay with mostly nothing from me in terms of affection. So, chances are slim it will get that far.

I'm rambling. I just wanted to check in here. Have a nice day!

10. What have other people said about your asexuality?

I haven't talked about it much with people, but before I identified I was told I couldn't be for a couple reasons. That set me back in terms of being comfortable with the orientation because I second-guessed everything I had come to learn.

I still get that, mainly because they know another asexual (who I have now met!) and she, of course, isn't exactly like me. I do things she doesn't, she does things I don't, but since this is their only experience, I can understand. So I have gotten to the point I can defend myself with facts and it feels great even if I don't change their minds. Because it's much easier to practice this kind of thing on friends than it is strangers that don't care about my feelings, nor I theirs'.

9. What does being asexual mean to you?

It means there's nothing wrong with me. It means I feel more comfortable telling my friends I love them. It means the way I feel about them is not strange nor am I expected to have certain other feels, too. It means I can focus on figuring other stuff out instead of always wondering what is wrong with me.

It means I know more about myself.

8. Do you believe there should be asexual pride? What do you imagine it being like?

I see it as a simple meeting in a coffee shop with themed ribbons and such like a birthday party. But for asexuality. Congratulations! You know more about yourself! And everything is okay! Share your happiness with more people like you!

And then we sing the birthday song anyway and have the choice of cake or pie or ice cream or all three.

But I don't know if there SHOULD be. I think it would be fun no matter what we do.

7. Who’s your favorite Doctor? (Or, do you have a favorite asexual character?)

Haha this question! Well I've only seen the recent Doctors, so my choices are limited to 9, 10 or 11. I don't think that's fair for me to choose! I also have not even seen half of what 11 has in episodes.

I think I love 9 the most. They are all good but he just is so gleeful at being flawed and being around flawed humans that I can't deny he's just a great doctor. He doesn't think anyone is perfect and no one is.

But that's just my opinion.

6. Have you faced oppression because of your asexuality, whether institutional or societal?

Oppressed? More like annoyed. I know it's not completely typical, but I don't want kids and I don't think it has anything to do with my asexuality. But my family expects me to one day have sex, one day have kids, in fact, they don't care if I'm married apparently? Because I give that excuse to get them to shut up, but they never suggest I find a guy.

Maybe because they all have come to the conclusion I'm gay. Since, you know, I defend gay marriage and the notion that sexuality is not a lifestyle choice that a sexually abused person clings to. That MUST mean I'm on the spectrum. When, in fact, I'm not even on it. lol

But no, I have not been oppressed.

5. Tell the story of the first person you came out to.

I first came out to this blog, I guess! So my followers would know all about it. My bestie was the first person I knew that I came out to.

It went like this:

*after a conversation of me explaining demisexuality* Her: When did you get to knowing more about sexuality than me?

Me: Well I've been researching a lot because I think I'm asexual. And you know I have to know everything there is to know before I do anything about it.

Her: So are you?

Me: Yeah I am. Do you want to ask anything about it?

Her: Not unless you want to talk about it. Are you okay with this?

Me: Yeah. I've been nervous to tell you but I've wanted to for a while now. Tada!

Her: lol Cool.

Or it was something like that. She knew about the orientation because some of the people she follows are ace and they have posted about it before. I was really happy.

4. Do you identify as a part of the queer community? What communities do you identify with?

No, I still consider myself simply an ally. Well I think I'm in the asexual community and I participate in LGBT+ events and such, but that's about it. I am in the love community lol. I make it my business for those who love each other to be able to be together without prejudice and descrimination.

3. How old were you when you realized you were asexual? What made you realize it?

I know I've gone over the story on my blog already but I can state it shorter here.

I was 24 when I first started trying to identify, I was 25 when I decided it was me and came out to my friend. I'm 26 now and I'm out to about 10 people plus this blog, haha.

I realized it when I researched it after a terrible break-up, sat on it for about a year, had a test run relationship while identifying, had a mutual break-up that pretty much solidified my identity, and then yeah. I realized it while freaking out from being told I was in need of a doctor and I was a terrible person that would never be loved by anyone because I would not have sex.

I am not out entirely, but I am slowly telling my friends. I told my bestie first and I even waited to tell her when I felt like I could tell others because I really wanted her to be the first to know. My close friends know, and you peeps know. But that's about it.
