Look, a game: Fate of the World!
I'll be the first person to admit to a large lack of strategic knowledge. My first session with Fate of the World ended horribly. For all my liberal outbursts and political opinionation, I'd lead the world to a particularly terrible fate, as this game has established.
Hark, Fate of the World is a strategy game about trying to keep the world from cooking itself. It's one of very few games I've played recently that have been able to change my perspective on things. It's pretty amazing how shallow the Occupy Wall Street riots seem once I've had to endureĀ similarĀ riots on theĀ receivingĀ end.
Even if you're not all that into traditional Strategy games, you could probably get a philosophy-induced kick out of this. Most of the gameplay I did was actually research, and surprisingly entertaining research at that. The game provides you with numerous little charts and stats to base your decisions on, and although I couldn't make half a bit of sense out of a lot of these stats, it made for an interesting bit of non-combat gaming.
