Hey Kai. This is Sunny. Suzie has been really sick. I've been asking the others to keep you distracted so that you wouldn't catch whatever she had, but I realize now that was unfair of me to do. She's okay and is getting better, though. Had a couple scares. If you want to come see her, you can. She would like to see you. She has a mask she can wear while you're around. I would recommend you also wear a mask, since you don't need to be sick, too.
Oh. No wonder Valentine was so "aggressive" with nudging me around. A little mad at you for not telling me sooner but understandable, I'd probably make things worse if I freaked out.
I'll go see mom in a second, I gotta find my mask first. Do I even need one since I'm part MASK-usi? Get it? Ok, that was a dumb pun.
"Hmm... I would have liked to slain that beast myself... disgusting how one could kill for fun, let alone leave a child without its parents. I can only imagine the terror of My Liege finding out her whole life had just been torn away from her. And with all the new things that have happened to My Liege, I find concern in how she hasn't become violent"
"But enough about My Liege, what about you, Madame? I've heard a lot about you from My Liege, and about the many misadventures that have happened while at your residence. I'm impressed with how you managed to tame the beast. My Liege has told me you're a chef, no? You're making sure she eats enough? She's healthy, yes? Considering the new forme could have messed with who knows what."
Suzie nodded along. "Yeah. It was...pretty awful. I think I helped her in not becoming too violent about it, though I wouldn't exactly blame her if she did."
Suzie waited for Gold to stop his questions so she could answer one by one. "Ahh I've had more misadventures than you'd ever really know about. I'm not really a chef, no, I just cook for her. I can't taste anything myself, so I rely on Kai to tell me if she hates the food or not. It's been a bit of trouble with her opening up about that, since she feels like she should appreciate any food she gets. I can usually tell when she dislikes it though. I am making sure she gets enough to eat. I believe she is healthy, but I think I should take her to the doctor I like in Icyridge. She's a really sweet and patient lady named Iris. She was able to help with my transformation stuff too. But as of now, my Chronos Sunny and my Jelluminous Jelly were able to keep her stable and heal her. Jelly is a really good healer."
Suzie smiled at Gold. "It sounds like you care about Kai a lot. I'm glad you do. I've been trying to keep her safe to the best of my ability. I'm not sure if I am doing a good job, but I am trying for her."
"Oh dear... My Liege finds medics to be very frightening. Mainly because of the needles and questions. I find great concern in how long it has been since she has seen a medic. But I'm glad that my liege has some way to heal her wounds and ailments"
"And of course I care! She's my charge, someone who needs protecting. But it seems to me you are doing an amazing job of being her mother. I can sense that you would kill for My Liege, making sure she is safe and happy, no matter what."
"Oh I'm on the same boat as she is. Medical personnel have never been kind to me, always blaming my problems on my weight or saying I am faking something." She let out a sigh. "But Doctor Iris is different! She actually listens and helped me through some tough anxiety when I went to see her. She lives in Icyridge though, so I'll have to take Kai there."
Suzie smiled at Gold. "I am doing the best I can. And I would do that for her if she was in grave danger."
"Unfortunately that's how it is. It shouldn't be but...yeah." She sighed.
"I could probably schedule something soon. I can also ask Doctor Iris to come to my apartment instead of us going to her, just for the sake of Kai's comfort. I know Anna, the princess, would cover for Iris if needed. I just need to help Kai mentally prepare for it."
"SHE WHAT!? You let a child maul a creature who could have turnt her to dust? And she won!? I mean, the mauling was very justified, but taking a chronos on? With nothing but teeth?"
"She asked me if she could so I let her. Socks was there and would have stopped anything from happening, plus I nerfed the nasty thing heavily with level down cubes before anything, so at best it would have maybe flicked her head. Not like it didn't deserve the mauling! I should have let her end it."
Suzie let out a sigh. "She's especially stronger now that she is part doodle too. That was before she was part doodle. I worry about her a lot."
"Ah... tell me what plagues your mind about My Liege. I'm positive she won't hear, she's too far away, and it seems your team knows to keep her away from us for now"
"Well...after I became part doodle, Kai did something to herself to become like me. I don't know what she did or what she took - thankfully Sunny and Jelly were able to stabilize her and Sunny was able to revert some of the changes too. It made me incredibly worried about how rash Kai can be. I just wish she would have come to me about how she was feeling, though I can't really fault her for not doing so. I just worry about her a lot." Suzie let out a soft sigh as she watched her doodles play with the others and Kai.
*Gold tilted his head slightly, listening to her rant*
"She was lonely... My Liege often feels, eh, non-included a lot of the time. She's independent, sure, but she craves human interaction. Even if she's terrified of humans because of what they are commonly known to do. If it isn't normal, abandon it, a common behavior in many things. It disgusts me. And you don't need to hope you're a good mother to My Liege. It seems like a fact that you're an amazing mother."
Suzie smiled at Gold. "Thank you for the insight. It was hard for her to even tell me she didn't really like soup and wanted something else for dinner. I hope she opens up more to me when she is ready."
Suzie looked a bit tired, seemingly in a bit of pain. She ended up stretching and let out a yawn. She didn't want to interrupt Kai's or her doodle's fun. She could wait.
"Its important to get enough sleep every night. And naps are always a fun bonus hour of sleep. I could ask the Antennaflight to make you a hammock if that would be preferable."
*Gold nodded, going off to find the Antennaflight. Once found, they started to wrap silk and web around two sturdy trees, making the hammock thick and comfortable.*
"Madame, if it's useful to you, I can get Thorn, one of My Liege's Carnivower, to use Sleep Spore on you?"
Suzie nodded. "That sounds great, thank you, Gold." She laid in the hammock and curled up. She falls asleep rather quickly, without the sleep spore.
But something odd happens - once she is fully asleep, her body starts to change. At the end, she is a full, rather tiny Calamander, still sleeping in the hammock.
*Kai, noticing her mom's disappearing act, immediately panicked... no no no, she couldn't have just abandoned her, right? Suzie would never do that to her own kid! Unless suzie suddenly got bored or annoyed with her. Kai highly doubted that, so the search was on! Operation: find mom was officially on!*
*Kai first checked the hammock, as that was a new thing in her environment. All she saw was a tiny Calamander. She knew she didn't have a Calamander in the Junkyard, and they don't naturally occur on Route 12, as Von Sweetsville was miles away. Who the hell was this calamander?*
"Hello? Tiny buddy? You lost or something?"
*she gently poked its head, making sure it was alive*
Suzie let out a little noise when poked, and then opened her eyes. She blinked.
...How was Kai so much bigger than her? What the heck? She noticed she felt super different, too. She looked at herself. She was a tiny little Calamander! She starts to let out little panicked squeaks!
Socks had noticed Kai's panic and the lack of Suzie around, so she came over to where Kai was to look at what was in the hammock.
Socks sniffs Suzie in Kai's hands. "That is definitely Suzie. It smells like her. It could be that she only partially transformed for a while before she became this...I doubt Timeseeker or Sunny would do this - especially Sunny. I think it was the leftover magic from Beep, that nasty little bunny. I think Sunny would be able to help. Let me go get her." Socks went off to find Sunny.
Suzie looked up at Kai and tried to speak, unsure if Kai could understand her. Her voice was much higher pitched and a little squeakier. "It is me, Kai, I dunno what happened. I just fell asleep and the next thing I know you were poking me..."
Sorry mom... so uh. What now? I mean, we're gonna wait for Socks to come back. Do you want me to put you back down or just keep you in my hands? This is so weird...
"You can put me down! Would probably be best for Sunny as well." Suzie said. "This is weird..." she sighed.
Socks came back quickly with Sunny. Socks had already explained the situation on the way.
Sunny looked thoughtful. "It was definitely the bunny's doing. When Chronos turn somebody - they do eventually become full doodles at some point. It could be immediately, take a few days, or take several years. I am unsure if other Chronos can do what I do, being that I was not always a Chronos. I can grant the ability to swap between forms." She focuses, granting Suzie said ability. "Usually, it is based on emotions - but since Suzie is special to me...she can just think about what form she wants to take and it will happen instantly, and without pain."
Sunny chuckled at Kai. "You got me there. But I misspoke - the transformation into a full doodle can happen at any point, emotional or not. The ability I gave to her just now is usually tied to emotions, but not for her. Would you like the ability too, Kai? Since you're Suzie's kid and...well, technically my granddaughter - as I am Suzie's mother from another timeline - you'd get the same ability as her."
Suzie was in the hammock, listening to it all. She kinda liked being tiny. It was nice to be so small. Plus....it was cozy. She closed her eyes and thought about her human form, transforming back into her half human, half doodle form. She preferred this one, especially since she was used to it.
YOUR MY WHAT? There's no way in hell! You, your a doodle! Mom is.. was.. a human... so that's makes no sense!
*Kai looked at suzie, as if pleading for an explanation... why the hell would Sunny just drop a bombshell like that out of nowhere? Especially in all this chaos?*
But uh... no... I like this form.. and i don't think giving me that kinda ability would have a good outcome. Especially with how much I react to stuff...
Suzie gets up and hugs Kai. "She was a human before too, Kai. What she says is true. I won't go into details until you feel you can handle the full story, Sunny is a bit. Dense sometimes." Suzie lets out a giggle.
Sunny nodded. "You wouldn't be subject to changes because of your emotions if I gave you the same ability I gave to Suzie. It just takes a bit more out of me to do than the standard one. But I understand."
Suzie giggled and nodded. "Yeah, it's been a lot." She gathered up her doodles, said bye to some of Kai's doodles and headed back to the apartment. Once there, Suzie went to the little alcove between their apartments. She gently took Kai off of her shoulders and set her onto the bed, stretching and yawning before hopping on herself. "Mmm...cozy."
*Kai preened her wings a bit before curling up in the strangest position she could manage beside Suzie, a goofy smug smile on her face as she covered Suzie's face with a wing*
*Kai warbled, pouncing on suzies hand, biting gently, and shaking it like a dog with a rope. Her feathers flared out in a mock intimidation display that was far from effective *
"Anything is fine, im just hungry. I mean im always hungry but yknow..."
*Kai scampered off to the kitchen, hopping up onto the counters to access the higher shelves and cabinets. She knew Suzie wasn't too fond of her getting on the counter, but it's not her fault she's short and the cabinets are so high up*
Suzie followed Kai into the kitchen. She didn't really like that Kai was on the counters, but she understood why she would. Perhaps she needs to only put stuff in the lower ones to make things easier. Would make it easier on herself too, considering she was pretty short herself.
"Anything specific you want to cook?" Suzie asked. "Like maybe Ramen?"
Yeah! I've been meaning to experiment with some. And this time, I won't burn the noodles! We thank that packet for its sacrifice.
*She bowed her head, giggling like a school kid with a secret. Once she was done her little gremlin-sounding laughing, she grabbed a few packets from the cabinets, keeping her tail wrapped around a knob on the cabinet door to keep herself steady and secure in case she fell*
*She seemed pretty excited, organizing the ingredients and such, all while doing her little "happy birb" ritual, as Suzie dubbed it. All it was was just Kai chirping a little tune over and over, feet claws tapping the ground in a small dance"
Suzie ate her ramen slowly too. She was really proud of Kai. "I am very proud of you, Kai. You're making wonderful progress."
Suzie listened to her next question and was thoughtful. "Hm. I haven't tried, but seeing as I can go full doodle now, I wouldn't be surprised if I could? Though, I was changed by a Chronos, which might have something to do with it? I'm not sure how you changed yourself, though. If it was via DoodleCo technology, it would probably prevent you from using moves? I've met a few people who claim that they are part doodle now due to DoodleCo, and they can't really use moves."
Yeah... that kinda sucks... maybe I can "learn" moves? And I know Quincy can use moves, so that would mean you can too, since you both were turned into half doodles. But we gotta think, I'm a duel hybrid, Maskusi and Polargeist, which have barely any type matching in moves besides scroll moves.
But Sunny and Jelly helped decrease the transformation, so Sunny still has a bit of influence in this. Theoretically, it's still possible for me to use moves... but we need to find out what typing I am.
I know you're a food type, since that's what Calamader's are. And Quincy is Insect and Crystal. But Maskusi is a Mind and Air type, while Polargeist is Spirit and Ice... there's so many variables to take into consideration about this...
*Kai groaned, resting her head on the table with her wings hiding her face... so much info and so few things to work with!*
"It is a lot to think about. I think Sunny helping reel back your transformation might not have done much. It could have, but it also might not, considering Sunny was not the one to transform you originally. She just turned it back from affecting you so badly. There is the factor that you're a mix of two doodles and not just one. That could also limit your ability to use any moves even if either Doodle can learn it. Being part human could further hinder it, since you're basically three species at once. I do have to ask - why do you want to use moves? I know it would help protect you, but is there a reason you want to otherwise?"
Suzie frowned a little at that and started to talk softly. "You don't have to protect me, Kai. I should be the one protecting you while you should be able to just be a kid. You shouldn't base your value on what you can do for others. You are valuable just by being here, even if it doesn't feel like it. You're an awesome hybrid, and even if you can't use doodle moves, you can use your wings and other doodle features to defend and fight if you absolutely need to. There are many more things you can do other than using moves."
I don't want anything to happen to you, momma... I don't wanna lose my momma again...
*Kai's voice broke as she latched onto Suzie like tape, claws digging into her back. Don't cry don't cry don't cry, not in front of your mom, that's a thing you do in private and at night... where it's safe. Why did life have to be so cruel to them?*
Suzie gave Kai a gentle squeeze in the hug. "You won't lose me. And...it's okay to cry, honey. Let out your feelings. It's alright. I'm here for you. I won't be mad because you're crying. Let it all out."
You better not leave, or I'm biting you and stealing Cheese AND Socks away from you... and then I'll send Sunny to go bother you for eternity. Fair deal?
*Kai looked up at Suzie fully, her face filled with fake anger and malice. It was almost impossible for Kai to stay actively mad at her mom for long*
"Sweetheart, I won't leave you even with your silly threats. I'll be here for you as much as I can." She booped Kai's nose with a finger. "But sure, deal." She giggled.
*Kai squawked loudly at the boop, flaring her wings. She didn't seem mad, just... scared. Although she slowly calmed down by preening herself. Such a strange little thing, she was. Why preen yourself when you can barely glide? Once she was done with herself, she began on Suzie's wings, arranging the scales to be uniform. If they weren't, it would bug her all day long until fixed.*
*Kai nodded, continuing her fixing. Once she caught on to how tired Suzie was, she quickly stopped her preening, instead resting her chin on Suzie's head*
You better not turn into a calamander again when you sleep.
"Hmm... I would have liked to slain that beast myself... disgusting how one could kill for fun, let alone leave a child without its parents.

It was almost impossible for Kai to stay actively mad at her mom for long*
