“Sometimes I wanna disappear…”
Thunder [Natalie&OPEN]
The sun was setting and Natalie had not gone home. It was already a bit dark, with all the grey clouds in the sky. She kind of would like to stay out and see the stars, but not in this weather.
She stuck around the mountaintop. It was already chilly up there, but she was dressed for the part. Looking down on the island that stormy night, she felt like a god about to bring down its wrath. She sighed and thought of how soon she should go home. Wild dogs came out at night.
The sky was beginning to light up. It really did look like it would storm, but Natalie wondered if it was so bad if she got rained on. Her grandfather would have a fit, but she’d be fine after a hot bath and a change of clothes. Then she heard footsteps crunching in the dirt behind her. Or was it thunder? She turned around, and, no, it was footsteps.
This island was so different from his own. Actually, every town was different from his own. His town was so advanced with technology. Every town wasn’t even close to the level they were at. Part of him had a bit of culture shock at the difference. He found that once he got use to it, though, he didn’t mind how different it was.
Although he, himself, was considered as advanced technology, he enjoyed how simple everything he touched was. It made him feel… normal. How often did he feel normal? It wasn’t often at all. His speech patterns had improved since he was first turned on, but he wasn’t normal. At least, he wasn’t just yet.
Oh well. Life wasn’t going to think about it, especially as he walked through the forests and mountain area of the island. It was enjoyable to enjoy this island. How wonderful it was… Wait, was that someone standing there? Perhaps a resident of the island? And she was looking right at him.
“Oh, uh, Hello!”
Natalie stared blankly for a moment. Just hello? This guy seemed awfully friendly. Looking at him, she wondered how old he was, being awfully short, too. Unless there was something else about him...
“Uh, hi!” she replied. “What are you doing up here? It’s dangerous up here with the storm coming. There’s going to be rain.” She gestured behind her, to the clouds.
She hit the road but the road hit back.

Boxed In (Kurt&Natalie)
What did make him change his mind? Kurt rarely apologized for something that he said. For as long as he could remember, he was blunt and told the truth. In fact, there were times when he was sarcastic without a care about how the other felt. That’s how it was and he couldn’t change that.
“I wish I knew…” he muttered to himself.
As they drove on, he could see the town coming in to view. Just a little while longer and he’d be rid of this awkward tension between them. He was already doing something good for his karma so he was allowed to hope to get out of this situation.
And then the truck sputtered and stalled to a stop.
Kurt fell his head down to the steering wheel, making the horn honk loudly. “Why…?”
Natalie raised her eyebrows. She hadn’t expected an answer like that. She wanted to ask what he meant, but he felt sorry, and she supposed that was okay. Leave it at that.
She resigned herself back to watching the road. There wasn’t much of a town to speak of, but something was definitely ahead. A mountain? Either way, it wasn’t much longer until they got there. Natalie wondered how long, exactly, because her eyes were beginning to droop after she got used to the bumpy ride.
How weird... It was slowing down. Natalie sat up. Wait... “Hey -- ” She jumped when the truck honked. Natalie chewed on her lip and looked around. The truck had died. She regretted thinking the thing was cozy. It was a piece of junk. “So, what now?” she sighed.
Sick Day
Sunlight streamed in through the window. Like every morning, it was a pain, but today particularly so. It must have been an extra hot day, because Danny already felt sweaty. With all of his willpower, Danny forced himself to sit up. Usually that helped to wake him up, if nothing else, but today it only felt like it had cost him a lot of effort. Danny coughed a few times. The back of his throat felt dry and scratchy. Checking the time, Danny saw that it was almost 9:00. He’d slept in. Well, it was too late to go outside for some fresh air before work, but if he hurried, he could open the store roughly on time. Not that it would matter much.
He stood up quickly, and for a second everything spun, causing Danny to stagger, almost falling back on the bed. “Whoa… no, come on…” Had he been drinking last night? No, that wasn’t it. He remembered passing out early, feeling more tired than earlier. “Ugh… I can’t afford to be sick,” he said. Shaking his head slightly, he washed up and got dressed, taking large gulps of water. They did nothing to help his throat. Medicine… did he have any? Danny checked the cabinets. Looked like he was out. Oh well, he’d just have to manage. It wasn’t like today was likely to be taxing anyways.
Danny made his way downstairs. His head was throbbing, but he ignored it. He wasn’t one to overwork himself, but he felt like he had no choice. Unlocking the door finishing the rest of his morning setup to show that the store was now open, Danny retreated to the counter, sitting at a stool there. He rested his head on his hand, his elbow propped up on the counter. He wasn’t sure whether he should pray for a customer or beg for one to not show up.
Trampoli didn’t seem so bad when Natalie got there. It was full of interesting characters and had a strong sense of community, in a way it reminded Natalie of home. Just a little more magical. She was able to get used to most things, but it still seemed like a dream, even after Raguna explained it all to her.
She walked into the general store that morning, partly to check it out and partly to buy. She still didn’t have her bearings straight, and the general store seemed like a good place to start.
Danny’s Groceries actually seemed pretty drab when Natalie first looked at it. The person at the desk looked tired when she walked in. She stepped in thinking how odd it was, then looked at him again. He really did not look well. “Hey, are you alright?”

Stranger and Stranger [Raguna&Natalie]
Raguna tapped his chin, giving her a bright grin as they clinbed the stairs. “True, true. Sword fighting itself is an art, maybe, and is one of the beat ways to peotect yourself in a dungeon, ruin, or temple. As well as hammers, axes, spears, and staves for a better chance at weilding magic.
“I mentioned the differences in swords, right? For more power behind the swing you’d want to use a longsword, the one I gave you earlier, as they’re heavier and cover a wider distance, though are much slower due to their weight.” He hummed to himself, thinking. “Broadswords don’t have as much attack behind them, but they’re much faster. And dual blades are twice as fast, not as fully powerful as longsword, and not as much defence as a broadsword, but you get more chances to attack.”
… Perhaps he was boring her already with this knowledge.
She had never thought of sword fighting as an art -- fencing, maybe -- but she also had never thought much of sword fighting at all. It was like she was in a time of knights and dragons. Natalie only looked back at him when he talked, but found herself awkwardly smiling and nodding when he smiled. She felt like she had to.
“Right.” With all these weapons, Natalie wondered what the heck she was supposed to use. The longsword was heavy, and she probably had not held it properly, but she had defeated a few monsters with it. She did like the idea of something lighter and faster, though something with more attack may work, since she was already fast on her feet.
She glanced up at Raguna. “... I think I’ll have to look at them.”
Elliot is asleep. He always went to bed early. Natalie, on the other hand, stayed up late.
In fact, she was sure most people on the island were asleep. She bit her lip when she thought about it. She tossed in her bed, got in different positions, and stuck her face in her novel before sleeping.
Hard Worker // OPEN
Natalie and Elliot had very different ways of working. Elliot was slow, and Natalie was fast, but neither of them were very efficient and, when Natalie had to go back and fix her mistakes, ended up taking just as much time working. As a perfectionist, she never wold admit to her mistakes. Her system worked just fine in her eyes.
With a crate in her arms, she turned around, bumped into someone, and dropped the crate on that someone’s toes. Well, she’d have to own up to this mistake.
