The Art of Splatoon 3, pages 300 and 301, translated and typeset. The page features the map of the world of Splatoon 3, which had already been translated officially...mostly. There were a few landmarks present in the JP version that aren't in the english version. I went and added those missing landmarks and included the map as a separate higher res image. You can compare it to the official english version here. The names of the locations are pretty direct translations. Yokosuka peninsula and Chi-Ba (minus the dash) are real places in Japan. Kara Highway comes from how Bankara and Haikara both end in "kara"...if I were to localize it, I'd call it the InkSplat Highway... Atsugi oasis I assume is a play on atsugiri, a thick slice of food, and atsui, hot (???uncertain) I also took the liberty of changing "border zone" to "prefectural border". This implies Inkadia and the Splatlands are part of the same country, and is info present on the JP map, but not on the official english translation.

The Wounds that Got Me Here: A story about my experience working for Lockstin
I have a story that I want to tell. A story I've told some people, in bits and pieces, but never really fully written out before. Given who the story involves, what their reputation is, I don't expect it to be fully believable. And because of that, I've spent years debating telling it. Afraid of being judged, of not being believed, of people thinking I'm just trying to tear someone down. I'm afraid people will think I'm overreacting, that what I experienced is 'just how the business works'. I'm afraid that they might be right.
But no matter what people think, it's the truth. I lived it. And I'm finally ready to share it, I think.
Not because I want to cancel anyone, this isn't a call-out post, but so I can share my story and heal.
CWs: discussion of underpaid creative work and inappropriate content involving minors
if you've been a fan of splatoon's lore before S3 and watched videos on youtube about it, you've more than likely seen a video written by squidhominid. like honestly?? those videos were the best splatoon lore content that was out there on YT during the S2 era. give her story a read. squid had told me about her involvement with lockstin's channel some years ago, but this post is the first time i saw what exactly she was paid. and yeah looking at the numbers??? highway robbery. criminal
...also yes what she says in this post is true... having one of my translations uncredited in a lockstin video back in 2019 when i was struggling to get anyone to see or care about my TLs was one of the reasons i made my own channel.
again, like squidhominid said, said this is NOT a callout post. this was all several years ago. and through a wild domino effect, this incident did lead me to get to know squid. but damn. sucks this all happened.
Splatoon Character Relationship Chart, from the Splatoon 10th Anniversary issue of Famitsu - Translated and typeset.

--- This one took a little while to get out, but here it is! 3600frames translated most of the idol interactions, Fia did the interactions between Deep Cut, and I did much of the rest. I referenced the relationship chart on Splatoon Base for some of it, as some of the text here is literally identical, and it already has an official translation.
Using the Splatoon 2 development artwork for "beta" Pearl as a jumping point, I imagined what Marina's childhood friend would be like. A repost of my animation "Takotsubo Heartbeat" as I think about Splatoon's 10th anniversary and all the unused concepts and ideas that still shape the game series today.

Moshi Monsters likely uses AI art
I need to talk about this. So recently Moshi Monsters' Facebook, TikTok, and Twitter accounts have recently posted this clip, and I'm going to dissect why this seems so suspicious as someone who is one of the admins in the Moshi Monsters Wiki.
So for context. Moshi Monsters was a family friendly MMO that shut down due to Adobe Flash ending. In this image we have a bright orange asteroid hitting on the ground of Main Street at Monstro City. It seems that this is foreshadowing for a potential Moshi Monsters revival beyond their spinoff and mindfulness apps. Overall, it screams AI to me. There are too many inconsistencies that most artists wouldn't make in the final cut, too many clashing styles, and the way shading and colours are chosen is too inconsistent with the theming. Multiple AI image detection websites say that it is very likely AI generated.
I am aware that generative AI detectors are not always accurate. But for there to be multiple websites saying the same thing with high certainty is a pattern, especially when there are many inconsistent design choices in the artwork itself that is not typical in Moshi Monsters media. There is an oddly shaped figure in the background that does not know if it wants to be a collapsing building or a windmill. There are also instances of bits of the sky being unusually layered over the buildings. There are also strange parts in the background that have blurs, which is typical of AI generated art.
The destroyed sign being destroyed in half but saying "(Wel)come [linebreak] To" also doesn't make any sense. The sign is supposed to reference the "Welcome to Monstro City" sign located in Main Street. When split in half it should have read as "come to [line break] tro city".
The only things in the art that one could argue resembles past Moshi Monsters media is the asteroid and the flames themselves. Their mindfulness and meditation app known as Moshi Kids primarily has Katja Hammond creating the artwork. She has drawn bits of asteroids and planets in the app. The way the orange asteroid is shaded also resembles her colouring style. The flames in the suspected AI art also resemble how fire is depicted in the Moshi Kids app.
HOWEVER, the suspicious part is that only SOME parts of the suspected AI art resemble her art style. Katja Hammond has a background in manga art and has a distinct and colourful art style overall. Her recent Moshi Kids art uses striking and dynamic poses and angles. So either: 1. The overall art is AI generated which took different art styles from different Moshi Monsters media, including Moshi Kids. OR 2. Katja Hammond drew some aspects of the art but either her or someone else in the team added some AI touches into the background and ground-ground. Personally, based on "vibes", Katja Hammond does not strike me as someone who would willingly use generative AI art. So Was There A Response? Multiple people have also noticed that it appears AI generated. The Moshi Monsters social media manager has denied allegations but with no proof on who the artist is or any proof of progress sketches.
It is true that there is a rampant problem with people being too quick to accuse AI to real life artists with little proof. However, this recent Moshi Monsters post has too much evidence stacked against its favour. Moshi Monsters socials eventually adjusted certain parts of the logo where the horns over the "M" are symmetrical and the eye above the "i" is in a more stable position.
I want to believe that the majority of the staff is unaware that their image is likely AI generated, so I tried to also talk about it on Twitter to see if it could do anything.
It would be very disappointing if the art is truly ai generated, because Moshi Monsters has always been a franchise about art and self-expression. Players could publish their fanart in the Googenheim Art Gallery (yes, that is the name please bare with me) in the MMO. There used to be yearly art competitions where the winner would have their Moshling design be made real. The Egg Hunt spinoff app has a gallery for younger artists. I've even made art for their magazines when I was a kid!!
There are many people like myself who played games like Moshi Monsters which served as a creative outlet for us to express ourselves, and this is a franchise that means a lot to me as a past autistic special interest. One of the main reasons I still use the Moshi Kids app every night is because I love the effort put into the art and music. I want to see the Moshi staff do better. You have a wonderful team of artists, please recognise their skill and passion. (Edit: Typos)
An update has been made!
The suspected AI art has been deleted from all of the Moshi Monsters social medias at approximately the 27th of May. On their TikTok account, they have posted this instead which appears more human.
The fact that they deleted the initial teaser art in favour of this implies that their first teaser art was indeed AI generated. The AI art was deleted several hours after I made a second comment in their official Twitter, but I'm not sure if the Moshi Monsters social media manager (Bexy) saw it before deletion. Maybe my comments did something, maybe it didn't. I am not going to pay money on Twitter to find out.
It is a little unprofessional for Moshi Monsters social media comments and emails to claim that there was no use of AI when there was. There has been no official statement or apology at the time I am writing this. I am not angry but I hope this does not happen again. There are a few things that may have occurred within staff. It could be that one staff member submitted their homework using AI without letting other staff know, with Bexy genuinely believing that the anonymous "og senior staff member" artist submitted human created work, and then the anonymous artist admitted to using AI and had to hire them or a different artist to redraw it. That's my best guess anyway. The updated logo and updated teaser art look much better than they did before but their colour palettes still look "uncanny" in an AI-sense. Possibly because they initially used the previous AI versions as a backbone reference. I just hope that Moshi Monsters doesn't repeat their use of generative AI art again. Edit: Okay so two hours later they deleted the second asteroid post too?? I don't know what's going on with them at this point BYE Edit 2: They reuploaded the human made asteroid post in the Kickstarter.

Octotune - See Haicalive [translation]
Since it’s been already half a year since the Octotune soundtrack and its booklet released, yet the section with Captain Cuttlefish’s notes to Agent 8 about the concert remained untranslated, @clannfearrunt and I decided to do so. A big thanks to them! We just decided to post this to my blog for the sake of organization.

I was going through the 3rd artbook, and noticed they had even more fruits.
Have you or anyone else translated the food related pages in the book yet?
translations of the Splatoon 3 Ikasu Artbook are compiled in this document
For an english translation of these... well its mostly in english already, but replace "Empera" with "Squidfin"
There's some food-related pages in BancalaWalker, but the book just came out not long ago so no TLs yet
A translation of the short story about Marina and Acht featured in Bancala Walker has been completed! You can read it here:
