She burned too bright for this world.
Emily Brontë, Wuthering Heights (via 8hy)
I wanna travel the world, learn about as much as I can, meet as many people as I can, and enjoy the simple pleasures of the world.

Chase finally looked up from his phone when he was met with a grumbling girl. He smirked slightly, promptly picking up the menu. âSuch a waste of good food and money, eh? Iâm half glad the selfie function didnât exist on phones when I was 14, I mean, that wouldâve been a disaster,â he began rambling when Catlina apologised. âUm⊠before I make a decision, why donât you give me your recommendations?â
a small laugh bubbled past her lips. âyeah, but that didnât stop me from taking gross selfies on my digital camera.â a smile lingered on her lips followed by a cringe at the thought of those still existing somewhere. she licked her lips and thought about what exactly was her favorite thing on the menu that was universal. âwell, my favorite thing is the bacon cheese burger with onion rings on it. we also have really good mozzarella sticks,â catalina suggested as she felt her stomach begin to ache for food.
catalina rolled her eyes at the teenagers just a few tables over, all taking photos of their shakes or whatever they got. âi swear, they just order food here just to take pictures of them,â she shook her head. âwhatever, iâm sorry. what would you like to order ??â she questioned the only other person in her section with her notepad out and ready.
âAh, all right.â It sounds a bit resigned as he casts his gaze about their immediate area, like maybe the animal would just appear for the sake of it despite being missing in action the entirety of the day (apparently.) Wrenâs disappointment is probably very much fueled by the slight buzz of alcohol in his bloodstream, but at least he has company â or so he decides when he chooses to linger about the other person, scuffing his boots at the grass. âYouâre an artist.â Itâs not really a question, more a statement, because obviously he can see that she is, and as far as heâs concerned, that should go for just about everyone. He considers himself one, at least. âThatâs so nice.â
she offered a weak smile before looking back down at her piece. the guy was obviously somewhat drunk -- or maybe thatâs just how he was, although she leaned towards the first thought. her attention was then grabbed again by the same gentle voice as before. âmhm,â she nodded, putting down her silver pencil, then proceeding to wipe the graphite of her hands and onto her exposed legs. âthank you,â she said as if it were a question. she was unsure whether that was a compliment or not. âare you an artist as well ??â she questioned, not being able to take her eyes off the shamrocks in his hair. damn, this would really be an awesome portrait, she thought again.
âi shared a room with jesus up until i was three. i mean, i donât really remember that but, iâm sure it was terrible,â madi said with a small laugh. she listened as her friend spoke, smiling when she finished. âit came furnished? so, he probably doesnât even like all this stuff! heâll be glad that I pretty it up a bit then. and as for you, youâre gonna come with me to shop. weâll get you a new couch and just whatever else you want.â
âthat doesnât count at all,â she scoffed. âit was absolutely brutal when my grandmother would come to visit. sam had to bunk with us until my grandma left and it was the actual worst. i canât even handle more than three weeks with one messy guy, imagine having to live with one for years ?? good luck to you, mads.â her eyebrows furrowed when she mentioned getting a new couch for cat, followed by a head shake ânoâ. âiâm not letting you buy me a single thing,â catalina stood strong on her stance. âiâd love to go with you. weâre just not getting anything for me.â
âI was going through an old box of things that I never got around to unpacking a while ago, and I found these really cool sea shells from when I lived by the beach. Now planning a beach trip has never sounded better, I definitely miss it.â
âoh, tell me about it. i grew up less than a mile from the shore and i miss the beach so much,â catalina sighed heavily. just behind venice and santa monica beach, huntington was a big tourist attraction. one of the many reasons why she despised it from noon and after. she never knew that a day would come that she wasnât minutes away from warm sand and salty air. âi will for sure help pay for gas and snacks if you let me come with you,â she practically begged. she didnât know how desperate she was for the beach until this moment.
Persephone wiped a bead of sweat off her forehead and exhaled deeply. She had her duffle slung on her shoulder as she readjusted the strap. â That was probably the best and most productive workout yet. Anyone know where the best burger joint is in this city ? â Just because she worked out doesnât mean that she COULDNâT pig out at the end of it.
âwould it be selfish of me to promote the diner i work at?â she chuckled as she looked down at her tacky waitress uniform. âi wouldnât say we serve the best, but i need the tips,â she joked with a wide smile. âin all honesty, kc smoke burgers and lcâs hamburgers are really nice.â
Kelly sat on top of the plastic bin outside of her door with her head in her hands. Why did her boss choose today of all days to unload all of this crap onto her? Why did she have to forget her key on her desk again? Why was she still stuck in this hell of a building? âOh my god, someone wake me up from this nightmare.â
catalina couldnât help, but laugh. she knew there had to be a legitimate reason for kelly to feel this way, but her seriousness and constant negativity started to grow on cat as if it were kellyâs way of being funny. ârealityâs a bitch, but good coffee seems to help me face it.â she answered honestly, but light-heartedly. almost as if it were a joke.
Mel hugs her knees to her chest, squinting at the ceiling uncertainly. Maybe she shouldnât comment on it, maybe itâs not that big a deal. But still, Burlington Creek hadnât ever made noises like this. âDo⊠do you hear that? That⊠rattling? Does this building rattle? Often?â
she couldnât tell what the girl was talking about. âiâm not hearing anything youâre describing. sorry,â catalina shrugged. maybe her ears were used to rattling noises being that her home shook often, whether it be by her brothers or earthquakes. âiâm sure itâs just the building settling or maybe the person above you has some people over,â she tried to assure the obviously shaken up girl.
