35F. United Kingdom. Sharing my nostalgic meanderings through the best Sims games in the franchise! Mostly The Sims 2 and 3, definitely with mods and CC, painstakingly improved for today's computer specs. Might see some Sims 4 content though less likely.

Merry Christmas to all those who celebrate! Can you believe it's been 2 years since I released the original S3DT ?! 😮

This version brings the long awaited SCALING, as well as hotkeys for changing presets and a few other little things. Please take time to read through all the instructions. See THIS post for information about the rest of this mod.

These new hotkeys will only work when in Decorator Mode (Shift + D), similar to the other hotkeys. For some reason, the "Create Scaler" hotkey only works when moveobjects on is enabled.

PRESET SWITCHING

To switch between presets, pick up an object and use either (;) or (') keys (see diagram above) to move forward/backward. This will work with custom objects like paintings with lots of images, and also different patterns, including user saved presets!

SCALING

This mod uses a custom object to scale objects. You can buy it in Surfaces, Misc or use the hotkey (/) (see diagram) to create one immediately. Place your object on the scaler, and then pick up the scaler, not the object. Use hotkey (-) to make the object smaller and (=) to make it larger. To move your object, make sure to always pick up the scaler and apply any other transformations (rotation, changing height) to the scaler. The object will still be usable, and the scaler will disappear in live mode. Made the object so big you can't select the scaler anymore? Simply pick up the object in the slot, press 0 and it will switch the hand tool to the scaler so you can continue to move it.

NOTES & ISSUES WITH SCALING

When placing, sometimes it says "Location out of bounds", simply rotate or use MoveObjects on to get around this.

Sim animations will often look weird when using scaled objects.

Modular objects and certain large appliances will NOT scale.

Objects with slots and effects will also apply scaling to any objects placed in those slots, and the effects. So if you have a giant dining table, you'll get a giant chairs. Tiny fountain = tiny fountain effects.

Trees and bushes can technically be scaled, but its more of a compression of the leaves in and out, rather than proper scaling. You can do some cool stuff with this though!

If you have a scaler scaled to say, 200% and then clone that scaler, the new scaler will also be at 200%

EXTRA BUILD/BUY INTERACTIONS

These can be accessed by Shift + Clicking on any object in Build/Buy mode. 1. Remove Footprint - Removes the footprint from an object, allowing sims to walk through it or use other objects that would otherwise be blocked. This will remain even after you save and quit. 2. Disable Snow on Object - Disables snow on an object. Only for decorative objects, as functionality will be removed when you use this.

Custom World - Garish Glow Island

Here is another custom world, this one needs a bit more of a makeover than Lighthouse Island but has the same slightly mystical, supernatural feel to it. I took pains to renovate this lot for my lovely Sim, Iris Field, who was looking to make it as a Ghost Hunter over the Halloween period (she's now an aspiring baker!)

This was another I got from CJPlays youtube channel (follow CJ's tumblr here) from another fab video walkthrough:

My Overview

This is a medium size world that relies heavily on a decent amount of store content to feel the full supernatural vibe of it. It is misty and moody, it is reminiscent of a scene right out of Wuthering Heights. Created by CinkSims, it is a sparsely populated world which will require some work doing to get it up to standard but there is heaps of potential with some truly breathtaking views and surroundings!

Demographics

Populated world

23 Community lots (mostly rabbitholes, with a visitable gym and art gallery, 2 beaches, 1 fishing lot, community garden, supernatural hangout, a graveyard and an arboretum and gypsy van.)

15 Residential Lots (5 interestingly built houses, only 1 unoccupied, rest are empty lots waiting for your creativity)

8 residents live in this world.

Lore:* "Jenny Smith, of the famed Strangetown, is central to this Island's story. Coming from a land where extra terrestrial activity is the norm and the men of the town that become the chosen ones, spawn the next generation of green pigmented, large eyed folk, it only makes sense her curiosity has her comfortably settling into the community. The story goes; after a successful stint at La Fiesta Tech, Jenny decided to explore the achepalegos of the mainland. It was on this journey that she discovered the island, she came to call, Garish Glow Island. Surrounded by the Aurora, even the most frenzied of mind will calm in it's presence. Key Features: Awesome looking graveyard, very shakespearean (it shows a lot of Dragon Valley was used in the making of this world!) Use Brntwaffle's lighting mods with the auroras for a very magical experience! I use this one.

Mod Description

The MonocoDoll's Menstrual Cycle Mod aims to provide players with a mechanic that introduces Menstrual Cycle's to sims of the female sex. This provides extra factors that you need to keep in mind. Such as when it is safe to Woohoo to avoid pregnancy, when you are most likely to conceive, being stocked on supplies for bleeding, as well as being lied to by other sims about it being a safe day or them being on birth control (Being lied to is tunable).

Inspiration

The Menstrual Cycle System from WonderfulWhims for the sims 4 was a huge inspiration for developing this mod. It should be noted, that I never played WonderfulWhims, but I loved seeing reviews of the Menstrual Cycle System from that mod. And I would have most likely enjoyed it had I decided to continue playing TS4 after I moved to PC gaming.

Build Project - Gilmore Girls' Star's Hollow

I've really got into decorating my custom worlds lately. This started with filling them up with lots from around the internet and then taking shells from online and decorating them myself. Finally worked up the enthusiasm to start building... so naturally my first foray into building is a huge project! I saw someone online had taken a 64x64 lot and built loads of little houses on them and I really loved the idea. Figured it would be a nice way to build small mini lots (needless to say I didn't consider quite how massive a 64x64 lot is and how snuggly I like to build. Anyway here's the start of my attempt. I've gone for a little town centre with a bunch of shops and houses all together.

Can anyone guess what inspiration I've taken from? (Hint: I've previously built this as a neighborhood in The Sims 2!)

Now I know it will unlikely be the most functional given it's size and density but would anyone be interested in having the option to download this once it's completed? I'm challenging myself to limited store and custom content (which is vastly difficult given how much of both I have but still, it's been a fun added consideration.)

TS3 Custom World - Lighthouse Island

I have really got into The Sims 3 custom worlds lately. Mostly because the default worlds are very large and I am currently carrying a seismic ton of Custom Content! So finding small, little gems like this one make me happy. I am going to detail my renovation and customisation of this world as a nod to the change in weather.

My Overview

This small world is full of Victorian style housing, buildings that have seen better days and whilst it remains cheerful and cosy because of the autumnal vibes, it has a slightly haunted undertone. Created by Goblindolly, it is quite store content heavy and the crazy amount of waves surrounding the island, and sheer volume of trees can slow down an older PC!

20 Community lots (1 empty lot to build on, 1 empty building to decorate, 6 rabbit hole lots including cemetry, 1 visit-able haunted house set design, the rest are interactable)

35 Residential Lots (10 beautifully built houses, some furnished, some partially furnished and others just a decorated shell)

Not So Berry Challenge (TS3)

So you might have heard of this little thing called the Not So Berry Legacy Challenge for The Sims 4. This a conversion of those rules for The Sims 3! You can read the original rules to the challenge here.

Do you like the rainbow? Do you like the idea of playing with berry Sims but hate berry Sims? Do you want to mess around with aspects of the game you’ve never used before? Boy, do I have the challenge for you!

Welcome to the Not So Berry Legacy Challenge, a ten generation legacy with a focus on bright colors and new experiences.

Basic Rules:

Each heir must represent the color of the generation (i.e. hair, makeup, clothing), but brightly colored skin is not necessary (these aren’t actually berry Sims, that’s the joke). This is optional, but it is a big portion of the fun.

The colors of the spouses don’t matter as they aren’t part of the challenge. Unless otherwise stated you can do whatever you please with them.

Every generation is supposed to complete both the career and aspiration of the heir unless explicitly stated otherwise.

Keep the lifespan on normal.

We wanted to make something that forced us to play with parts of the game we’ve never explored before. I tried to capture that same goal for The Sims 3. Lucky Palms was nice, but it was very dry. You spend your days painting, writing and relaxing at the beautiful beaches while your partner works a shady job. You never planned to have kids, but one day you get bored and have an affair, and woops, there’s a baby! Will you keep this a secret? Or will your partner find out? Traits: Loves the heat, Loves to swim, Hates children, Snob, Artistic Lifetime wish: Illustrious Author Career: A job? What is that?

This one I could not find any photos online of the real life version and though I have heard it referenced so many times I can't recall actually seeing it when watching the series. It's an odd one as it was once a pancake place but then they owner got bored and it became like rotating world cuisine. I decided to make it a small one with somewhat of a sweet focus and used the flapjack stall for this so, kinda following the "world cuisine" given it's cuisine from one of the holiday destinations! Haha!

I had a lot of fun decorating this one even though I found out right at the end of the build that there was a roof over the porch, not a second level! But as I had had such a drama making the video store beside it connect because it wasn't built on a foundation whereas this store is, it took me half a lifetime making it work (AND the game crashed once without saving, heart-broken!!!) It was good fun albeit a bit of my own interpretation (complete with coffeeshop at the back!)

I really struggled to find the right kind of wallpapers for this build so it looks a little off from the real life pictures, I also could not find the correct gables and architecture for outside. I decided inside I'd make a "town meeting" section and a ballet practice section and figured the stage could double as the podium area and I popped a little dressing room behind the stage for all the little ballet dancers to change for their recitals.

There were quite a few great pictures on the internet to show what Miss Patty's looks like, on my lot I added a little garden to the right of the building and behind the building I added a quiet little park with a pathway that leads onto the lake that would be great for litttle kiddos to play.

This was a fun one to do and probably has the least amount of CC in it! I didn't have much reference but remember when Lorelai helps Luke with a party for April and they do makeovers at the Beauty Supply before a slumber party at Lukes. Looked fun!

The second major landmark in Star's Hollow to be showcased here and the second of Taylor's stores; Doose's! This was actually the very first one I recreated and did try to limit CC and then came back and basically now the whole thing is CC! Haha! Hopefully I don't break the game with all my CC acquisitions!

I did take some time to watch a few episodes of Gilmore Girls featuring the interiors but through the seasons it changes so I decided to take some creative licence here, make it my own some and work on keeping the exterior somewhat true to the reality.

Well this one didn't have much online to show a detailed interior so I took some creative licence with it. I remember there being ice cream at the shop too I'm pretty certain. Anyway I added ice cream to the shop as well.

This was the best I could find, and I really wanted something a little more parlour like and fancy for the town so this one is a little different. I am learning how to "recolour" items so will hopefully have a full set of shop signs at some point though this is on the to do list (which is a mile long in regards to Sims! haha!)

Initially I thought I would try to keep it exactly true to life but slowly warmed to the idea of creating a likeness but still a version that came to life in my own imagination (and was possible with my limited build skills and TS2 CC objects.)
