I took everything down to the studs in haddock bay and have been working on mainstreet. :-)

It's fun to make stacked lots. almost every building has a store on the bottom and apartments or community spaces on top. don't mind the white tiles and stuff, those are markers for placement. I repaved the roads because there were so many, and I was struggling to figure out how to make everything flow. I've learned that I like building / working in small spaces. I'm the same way with my sketchbooks so it makes sense. :-) I'd rather have more detail than quantity. I got excited about the idea of mainstreet, like in so many midwest towns. I've been challenging myself to use different windows on every building and it's been fun. I couldn't build without pinterest! I have a haddock bay board. and when I get bored of working on mainstreet I work on houses. everything is in early stages like this so I don't feel like documenting it and sharing, but maybe I should. It's okay if it's not perfect and sparkling. It can be rough and unfinished. anyway, I have like a month until I start college so I'm just trying to enjoy building and writing haddock bay's history. :-) this town has evolved with me over the years and nothing I've created is as special to me. It looks so different now, and here I am rebuilding it again, but in that way the town is a lot like me. I wasn't out as trans when I created it. I've been through so much since and I've always had the town to load up and tinker with. I think it's beautiful because I haven't made the sims, but I know their names, and they're in my daydreams when I listen to music. I know the places they hung out at as teenagers. I know fragments of them. ahhh the beloved characters. :-)

Metal Arch Bridge 🌲

Isn't it obvious that I'm having so much fun in milkshape resizing things? This bridge reminded me of twilight, and since we've had lots of rain here in Ohio, it seemed fitting to make a dramatic preview... 🦇✨

It was originally double the width, so I narrowed it down to line up with roads that have sidewalks. I also lowered it so there's just a small bump when getting on or off like in real life (we have a similar bridge in my city).

I kept the original rusty color, and added steel, red, blue, and green options!

I've included the PSD to make even more colors if you want something specific.

You can mix and match as you please.

Historic Covered Bridge 🐦

This is my first ever converted object! Yay 'hood deco! I wouldn't have been able to do it without @angelapleasant's help with texture mapping and milkshape wizardry. Thank you so much again for your patience and knowledge. Now your 'hoods can have a cool piece of historyyy! :-)

There's a wide version that lines up with the sidewalk, and a narrow version that lines up with the road. I wanted an option that made more sense for simmers who use road defaults with no sidewalks. You can have both if you want, or whichever you prefer.

They're tall enough to fit one of @criquette-was-here's semi-trailers through with a bit of clearance. I did that on purpose!

I've included the PSD to add your 'hood name, bridge name, and the year it was established if you want to do so.

As it says in the screenshot, the bridge name (middle) has to be backwards in order to show up properly.

I used @ajaysims' western font. If you want more options, this is a great list.

✨ Historic Covered Bridge Troubles ✨

I've made good progress in converting the covered bridge as 'hood deco, but I've run into a snag. This is probably a common thing but I can't find much info on it when I search for it.

There's two "diffuse" textures for this debug bridge. If I apply only this one, the roof is in it but the wooden road and siding isn't.

If I apply only this one, the wooden road is there, and the siding almost looks right (but is a little weird still in places), and there's no roof in this texture.

I guess my question is, does this have something to do with uv mapping? I assume both textures need to be combined into one somehow? I'm not sure where to start with that, so I'm posting this while I continue to search for answers. If you know what's going on and want to help, I appreciate you! :-)

Not a big fan of personal insults but I do have strong feelings about AI. I don't want the Sims 2 community to be one where AI use is normalized so I say let people express frustration and disappointment in Lord Crumps and anyone else who uses AI to create content. It might not sway those folks, but it might sway others.

Tech billionaires want us to use AI because it justifies their actions. It makes them money and gives them power. We don't have to give them that satisfaction. And we don't have to contribute to a technology that uses an upsetting amount of power and resources while displacing communities and habitats to build data centers, all the while "creating" things only by rejiggering a bunch of human creations (including code!) it took without asking.

Today I want to share a little of my sims spreadsheet, which I lovingly refer to as my simsheet. This is only a few snippets and blurbs. It's been a work in progress since 2021 and probably always will be as I add new things and take away old things. There's a lot more sheets, but these felt good enough to share. :-)

✨️ Default Clothing Sheet ✨️

This is a sheet dedicated to tracking my progress as I download clothing defaults. If I'm looking for a specific default I can ctrl+f and find it by name or scroll through the categories. Once I have a default in my downloads folder I go back into this sheet, change the status for it from "n/a" to "defaulted", and embed the link for it in the sparkle emoji. As you can see, I've finished toddlers so far! I'm currently on children and haven't gotten to teenagers yet.

✨️ Custom Clothing Sheet ✨️

This sheet is much older than the default clothing sheet, but you wouldn't know it because over the last six months I've updated the theme across the entire simsheet. :-) The sparkle emojis lead to a preview image and the moon emojis lead to the download page/post for each item. I think all of my custom clothing is currently from skittlesims.

✨️ Buy Mode CC Sheet ✨️

This is my bread and butter. Okay... so... I decided to scrap my downloads folder and start over a few years ago. I've stuck to a process for downloading CC since then that is tedious but ultimately worth it to me. I could write it out or try to make a post with pictures if anyone would be interested! It involves editing names/descriptions, categories, a whole bunch of stuff. For this sheet in particular (and build mode) everything is exactly where it appears in game, and everything has a link to the original post. It was too big to screenshot in its entirety, haha. It's always growing. :-)
