I'm back!

New academic year starts TODAY!

I'm very excited, a lot is gonna change for me this year. I am legally considered as disabled and soon I'll be able to take my service dog with me!

New year ahead, so many fascinating (or boring) things to learn, so many lectures to listen to, so many notes to make!

I want to be minimalistic but effective this year. I have two schools, a job and possibly rewriting my high school finals this year. It's a lot, so I need to plan it.

I want to study every day and be as productive as is it possible!

I want to prove that I can be disabled and successful at the same time.

Experiments on animals

As a zootechnic I need to know how to take care od animals in labs.

A few days ago I had classes in the animal house at my uni. We had to clean cages for mice and recognise their gender.

I'm trying to study grasses and bacteria at the same time and it doesn't work

A month left

It's just about passing final exams and I will be free.

Finally. I don't know what would be happening if I had a few more months of studies. I am in the middle of mental breakdown right now basically, can't sleep, cry every day.

It's hard. It's very hard to manage studies, technical school and to regularly visit vet clinic. Sometimes I feel like I can't do it anymore.

Holidays are just over the corner, but it's not so easy. I don't have a job yet and I feel strong pressure. I have to find something or otherwise I will be ridiculed.

I'm trying to be a bit more self conscious, soo here is my duck face and messy hair!

Do you know what changes when you go to the college?

Nobody gives a shit about you.

Literally nobody. All you hear is 'this is your problem, not mine'. It's you who wants to graduate. They won't help you. And if you don't fit, you get expelled.

I don't respect owners that claim their pets are just "naughty"

This is Pimpek. He is 11 years old now, I have him since he was 3. Our friendship hasn't been easy. He was a stray, returned from adoption. He wasn't listening, he was escaping, I could not unleash him, aggressive to dogs and people. He was panicking at vet clinic as well.

And guess what?

We fixed it.

I'm able to take him anywhere. Absolutely anywhere. I often take him to classes, where he either layes calmly (and silently!) on his blanket or walks around the classroom (if teacher allows that). During breaks he plays with my colleagues and when time comes, he immediately turns off and is a good boy again.

Our way to university takes more than an hour, by tram and subway. He used to be afraid of the subway fatally, now he even falls asleep.

He is my teachers favourites, they sometimes call him to come over during the lectures (!).

He does not cause me any troubles in public, no matter if it is the University or Starbucks.

It is possible, you just need to want it.

If you are lazy, that's fine. But don't blame your pet for your mistakes. It probably doesn't know how to behave and what do you expect.

I don't know, but I'd recommend cooking them first.

Women's Day!

We had a very matching today's celebration operation.

A young samoyed visited us, bleeding from her vagina. She has been spayed two weeks ago. After getting medicines, she was still bleeding. My boss (he is a very fine surgeon) had to come over and open her. We could not find any visible sources of leak, so doctor put in her tampon made of hemostatic sponge, to prevent blood loss.

She must have had hematoma on the uterus (this part that was left) and it broke, what caused bleeding.

RTG of a young Jack Russel Terrier that destroyed a Christmas Tree. Owners said that she ate some Christmas balls (you can see glass) but the most dangerous thing was a zip fastener, that no one had expected.

During the surgery we found a tone of boiled potatoes. They are not healthy for dogs, but they had secured the gastric mucosa. It was quite gross though!

Patient feels great and is ready to eat more inedible stuff!

This surgery happened on my birthday, I found it like a bit strange gift but everyone knows I'm crazy 😜

Today was my birthday, there was no better way of celebrating than visiting the Clinic.

I was allowed to catheterize this Yorkshire Terrier.

Bit sad, he fell off his owner's bag and got his backbone damaged. Probably won't survive this night.

Today was the first time I did the surgery myself!

Ok, maybe not a proper surgery, it was only a tartar removal, but I'm still extremaly proud!

The best thing about studying at the Faculty of Animal Sciences is that I'm allowed to take my dog for lectures :D

This is an uterus, that belonged to a cat. Weight of the cat - 3,5kg. Uterus itself about 0,4kg.

Pyometra.

Disgusting, isn't it? Well, she was 10 years old. Why hasn't she been spayed before? Was the owner lazy? We don't know. But this thing that we see on the picture was about to break. It is a life threatening condition. Luckily, it was an open pyometra, the pus could got out of the body. That was what alarmed the owner.

I don't want to think how long would this cat survive without a surgery. I'm just glad we saved her...

Today we were wisiting big cowshed near Warsaw. It was my first time doing it in almost 15 years and now I'll definitely be doing it more often
