Honestly, she’s surprised she knows anything that Dawn doesn’t but… hell, impressing a pretty girl? Never a bad thing. May clears her throat lightly, a blush blooming on her cheeks as she musters up a smile of her own.
“W-Well, uh… I-I mostly know stuff about Johtoan lore b-but I can totally tell you about that stuff!” Cue a quick clear of her throat as she rubs at the back of her head. “Lots of our culture is really… nature-y, I guess? The region has a really long history of being tied to the land and the Pokemon. Heck! It’s actually pretty normal for people back home to not keep their partners in pokeballs.”
There’s a hum as she produces one of her team’s pokeballs from her pocket. “And we don’t really… use this kind so much? Like, lots of folks have theirs custom made from apricorns ‘cus that’s how they were first made there. We didn’t really have too much technology until ‘bout the time Unova was making contact with other regions more often, y’know? I didn’t even know that other regions had reusable TMs until I moved here.”
Dawn stares at the apricorn-pokeballs in amazement. That really was a piece of history there. “W-Wow... that’s amazing!” Dawn says, as if the hollowed out apricorn was the most fascinating thing in the world right now.
“Think about it... customs like this might be proof that Johtoans were the very first people to use any kind of Pokeball. That right there... it’s like ancient custom being passed down through the generations, you’re holding a piece of history in your hands!”
Dawn claps her hands together. “Oh! Did you make your own apricorn-ball? Or are there artisans and craftsmen who do that? I wanna see what it looks like. We should totally visit Johto sometime, it has some much amazing history and lore!”
