i LOVE your art (multishipper, trying to respect the dnf, thank you for that btw) ive always loved the idea of gihun winning the fight 'officially' when he spoke to the guard (smth about forfeiting or whatever) but bc sangwoo still went to knife himself he was taken in and saved by the games. basically gihun still gets money (its half of the winnings) and still goes through the s2 hunt/finding the island and 001 is still being a menace but the masked officer is revealed to be sang-woo and maybe gihun thought he died and sangwoo let him believe he did
(and sangwoo is more a prisoner to the games- he was actually declared the winner when gihun forfeited and he was kept alive by the games and *hes* the one who gave gihun the money)
thank you so much for this ask! i truly appreciate you not following, i completely respect multishippers and have been one in many other fandoms, it’s weird, with sg it’s a lot more personal therefore im just not personally comfortable with 457 — and most in.ho ships tbh. but anything else is cool. still, thank you again.
this idea is. hauntingly good. i’m not usually a fan of ‘sangwoo survives and becomes apart of the games’ aus, a lot of the time i feel as if it villainises him too much for just being morally grey, but the aspect of him sending his money through to gihun is so sadly beautiful lol. also a point id say is gihun does end up with all of the winnings, but only because sangwoo sent his half through to gihun, as permitted by the guards as one last goodbye. that way he can live with all of the money and gihun doesn’t have any suspicion sangwoo would be alive because there’s no missing cash. it both helps gihun and the game.
i could see sangwoo being a different person, almost — purely due to the trauma of the games and what he is made to do for the higher ups. i feel as if after s1 - he wouldn’t just stay in the masked officer role willingly (he may be assigned the role out of spite, and because of his organisational skills and legal skills, with other high rank guards and fm keeping him in check 24/7) and would try to find gihun outside of the games - keeping an eye on him, to make sure he’s alive. i would say he would try to reach out, alternatively, but i could also see the recruiters basically stalking sangwoo, making sure he isn’t able to actually speak to gihun again. he would be horrifically depressed and if he does attempt, i know they’d force him to survive through medical treatment, until the point is drilled into his head that he can’t escape. even in death.
and then the reveal in s2 would be heartbreaking. but i know that he would know of gihun’s arrival and would actively try to infiltrate the games to join him/give him an advantage. he would ideally want to save most people — but due to how he had been assimilated into the game and how ‘he has to function’ psychologically, he would have to fight his newly learned ‘beliefs’. in an ideal world, i would want sangwoo to get out of the games, but considering how traumatic that experience would be, i feel as if he’d sacrifice himself at a crucial moment or get killed by fm. gihun would live, but even if sangwoo did escape with him, i fear he would kill himself immediately and it would be a method that he couldn’t survive.
i would want a happier ending alternative, but jfc they’d be so unimaginably fucked up mentally. past that point, i would write so much fluff and happiness they’d drown in it LOL.
LASTLY: i am definitely gonna draw them meeting in s2. i can imagine it in my head and it is so damn devastating that i have to make it into a very short comic thing.
