Undertale tries to pass itself off as an RPG where "nobody has to die", and this is enforced by the cast full of "personality" and "color" in an effort to create the illusion that "violence is never the answer", but the entire game your life is constantly being threatened and nobody cares while they generally act like unsympathetic assholes for the entire remainder of the story, especially Alphys.

At the end of the game’s true ending, everyone learns a lesson about how racism is bad, but the end result paints the monsters as manipulative, bloodthirsty… well, MONSTERS in retrospect. They're commonly mistreated as victims of racism, but then we find out they’re not actually responsible for the war between humans and monsters that they're hated for (because monsters dindu nuffin), and the blame gets shifted to the humans where it belongs and the idea that they're the worst things to ever happen.

As it turns out, racism's actually fine, you just have to make sure you hate the correct race.
