Colman Family Group at Camp, Seattle, ca. 1914
The Colman family was among the earliest settlers of the Fauntleroy neighborhood in West Seattle. In addition, the family owned various properties throughout the Puget Sound area. The family enjoyed taking extended group camping trips to both their Horsehead Bay property and Orcas Island. The family donated the Horsehead Bay camp to the YMCA and it was renamed YMCA’s Camp Colman. The Colman family also donated property for the YMCA’s Camp Orkila on Orcas Island.
