⚡️That’s where a lot of his obsession stems from, both the need to control something and the delusional belief tagt you are completely helpless without him
⚡️It was cute at first, “Y/n, behind me!” “Y/n, Shang Tsung is not who he appears to be” “Y/n, stay with Liu Kang, he will keep you safe”
⚡️ Then fighting ended… and Liu Kang (And MANY others) died, leaving a mourning man with a pretty little thing that he doesn’t want to see hurt
⚡️ His once kinda cute tendencies quickly turned to losses of autonomy
⚡️ “Don’t do that, you’ll hurt yourself” and you’re just cutting celery, “Step down from there, I will get it” and you’re just reaching for some a book on a high shelf.
⚡️ It quickly becomes maddening
⚡️ His intense protection of you wasn’t even intentional, he fully believed that what he was doing was keeping you safe.
⚡️ I can imagine that in between Mortal Kombat 9 and X, everyone was living together, probably in the Shaolin temple (Unless I’m an Idiot and missed smth)
⚡️ For a while, the few survivors of the fight stayed together with the monks, slowly helping rebuild all that had been destroyed…
⚡️ Not you, you just sat on your ass under Raiden’s stern commands
⚡️ But that got boring eventually, so you made friends with Sonya and Johnny
⚡️ Raiden didn’t mind Sonya, she was stern, a quality he liked, but she seemed like a good role model for you (as if you weren’t a grown adult)
⚡️ It was Johnny he was worried about
⚡️ “Relax Raiman, me and Y/n are just going to train together with the monks, I’ll keep a *real* close eye on her”
⚡️ And suddenly your leash tightened up to your throat
⚡️ That was how you found your door magically locking itself and not budging, no matter what you did. Your head would get foggy anytime you wandered near the kitchen. A large storm would start outside if you looked at anyone for too long. It was infuriating
⚡️ It gets boring with Raiden, he really is just a grumpy old man that has an obsessive crush
⚡️ Though it does lead to some awkward interactions
⚡️ “I have brought you some flowers from the garden… if you wish to accept them” he tells you after you had finally busted out of your room after being stuck for hours.
⚡️ Raiden really does try his best to mimic human dating behavior, he gets you flowers and trinkets, he “protects you” from harm, he stays close by while you sleep
⚡️ All normal human things, trust
⚡️ Nothing too much changes until before Mk11. Sure, he had some aneurisms over the idea of Kotal, Quan Chi, Kano, or Shinnok hurting you… but it turned out mostly okay in the end
⚡️ And then Dark Raiden appeared
⚡️ “Your feeble, mortal mind can’t comprehend that I am protecting you” He would sneer as he shoved you into a desolate room after you had spoken to a monk
⚡️ Dark Raiden is Regular Raiden on obsessive steroids
⚡️ His focus shifted from keeping you safe and happy to just… keeping you
⚡️ You became a trophy of sorts, something that proved that he held control and something that he could keep safe. You existed solely as an object for Dark Raiden to control
⚡️ You suddenly found that every part of yourself belonged to him, including your very own appearance.
⚡️ “I can sense your frown. Fix it.”
⚡️ While Raiden was a bit of a hassle, he never made you feel fear like Dark Raiden did. You found yourself walking on eggshells any time you were in his line of sight, and that was most of the time.
⚡️ You stayed in your room out of your own free will after a while, anything to get a moment to yourself, but even then he controlled you.
⚡️ You did something stupid, you were alone with Johnny, desperate for a normal connection. “He’s gone crazy! He almost killed a monk for walking to close to me” you vented to the charming man… only to hear thunder crack behind you
⚡️ You were never safe, never alone… it was terrifying
⚡️ Eventually you went quiet, stayed completely careful, flinched at every little noise around you
⚡️ And then Kronika brought back old Raiden in the military base.
⚡️ You were the first person he rushed to, checking to see if you had been hurt by his sudden appearance
⚡️ He couldn’t really explain the dark satisfaction he got from your sobbing figure gripping onto him, eternally greatful that grumpy awkward Raiden was back rather than his evil counterpart
⚡️Neither versions of Raiden got particularly horny in their obsession, the god really didn’t have the time to pleasure himself in anyway, but he would happily have sex with you if you ever wanted it
