thinking more about ghost au. half of it is considering the horrors of survivors guilt & grieving the person you were the other half is just the thought of hal marl & rhode trying to ghostbusters their way through this lmao three doofuses vs the spirit of who you once were surely they can figure it out. they'd probably get involved after the minific Incident, because a) hey rhode what the fuck & b) rhode remembers the last time they tried to take on a big scary problem by themselves and it was not good for their psyche so they're reluctantly letting their friends in on this. after that point because like. something something working through emotions & relying on others. the ghost starts being more visible to those two as well!

they do their best investigating, shenanigans probably occur. trying to ask others about this kind of stuff for any clues on what to do doesn't get em much of anywhere but it is really funny to consider

We're very lucky in the Outer Wilds circle. It was something I wanted to do last time, but I didn't know how at the time. So I drew a ridiculous amount of stuff in order to work it out. This was the first attempt (15 characters):

Imagine, for a minute, that you're Riebeck. You're on Brittle Hollow, in your camp, trying to work up the courage to move on, when the newest pilot (they launched?) comes in hot on their jetpack and slams their face into one of the rock walls with a sickening crack.

They stumble for a second, maybe seem a bit disoriented, then turn to wave at you like nothing happened. Before you can even ask if they're alright, they stuff three barely-cooked marshmallows in their mouth (are they even chewing?) and speed off again.

It's gotta be surreal, right?
