Ariel as POC

I want to explain something here.

Ariel is not a real human, she’s a mermaid. Seeing as how the ocean is vast, I’m pretty sure that mermaids can come from anywhere. So the idea of Ariel being a POC is not that far-fetched. 

As for ‘Oh, it’s Europe’ that doesn’t really hold any weight either because believe it nor, POC did exist in Europe despite what you’re been told. And again, the ocean is wide so that means that non-white mermaids could have been living in Atlantica. 

This is also a fantasy film. People are so willing to accept mermaids and sea witches but having a non-white mermaid is apparently too much to ask for?

They also watched a more recent case of yellowface in Cloud Atlas.

It wasn’t so much the acting that upset them, but rather the character falling into stereotypes.

And in the end, the group agreed that a change needs to be made in Hollywood in the way Asian culture is perceived.
