things that frustrate me about 13 reasons why:

the fact that NO ONE UNDERSTANDS. 

you have no idea how many people i’ve talked to that go “but like, i don’t get why she did it. everything that happened to her was NORMAL. it’s things that everyone goes through” like YES. I KNOW. THAT’S THE FREAKING POINT. 

Hannah Baker was depressed. when you’re depressed, you get no enjoyment out of things that you like, and everything affects you negatively in one way or another. add to that the fact that everyone was literally HORRIBLE to her and didn’t even take a chance to get to know her. they just assumed she was one way because of what people said. they took advantage of her, and they screwed her over, and sure, maybe she screwed herself over too, but she didn’t want to live anymore. she already had this negative filter on life, and THAT is what depression does to you. these might be things that everyone goes through, but everyone goes through them differently. 

just because you went through ONE of the things that Hannah Baker went through and got over it like it was nothing doesn’t mean that everyone does. the things that you don’t find offensive, some other people might. and the things that don’t affect you, might affect someone else.
