"Imagine if each day a man must try to kill the moon, he thought. The moon runs away. But imagine if a man each day should have to try to kill the sun? We were born lucky, he thought." — The Old Man And The Sea, by Ernest Hemingway
"No one should be alone in their old age, he thought. But it is unavoidable." — The Old Man And The Sea, by Ernest Hemingway
Am I unlovable
I would give you my heart.
But I don't think you would want it.
I don't think anyone would.
It is as disgusting as it is confused.
I am so very confused.
Nobody wants to love a heart
That can't even love itself.
I just want somebody
Anybody
To tell me it's not disgusting.
That even though I'm confused,
I'm still able to be loved.
That I'm still capable of loving.
But I don't think anybody would.
For I am too repulsive, to be near anybody.
Let alone to be loved by somebody.
What would you say about me now.
" 'Do you like being alone?' he asked. 'No. No one likes being alone. But I've learned how to live with it.' " — Call Me By Your Name, by André Aciman
Art is the closest anyone can get to being immortal.
I want to be out at night
For a drive.
The orange lights.
Soaking it all in.
We grow tired
And stop at a gas station.
For ice cream.
Just me and
Someone I love.
No one else around
Except the clerk.
We stop for a bit.
The neon lights.
Soaking it all in.
Sat on the curb.
For a rest
And ice cream.
Why must happiness be followed by heartbreak?
I understand that complaining doesn't change anything.
And that so many people are dealing with worse things than me.
But sometimes you just need to vent.
Sometimes, you just need someone to listen.
Without them talking over you.
Sometimes, you just need to feel like people care.
Without them making it a competition.
Sometimes, you just need someone to validate your problems.
Without them making it about themself.
If you had loved me, things would have been different.
Maybe someday I'll be enough for you.
