sheltered
I wish
I could open up to you
but
my heart has taken so many falls
it fell into the deepest pits
of myself
it collapsed into itself
nothings
his
sugar coated whispers
should hold no meaning
when his actions
are encased in salt
never chase him
stop running in circles
you'll never reach the center
if you think I'm too much, maybe you're not enough
you should never
tame yourself
for a man
don't let him fool you
into thinking
you are too much to handle
your thoughts
shouldn't become
white canvases
for him to paint his opinion on
you are already your own
masterpiece
don't dive into oceans if you don't know how to swim
don't show him
the deepest parts of yourself
until he proves himself worthy
of exploring your depths
otherwise
he will drown
and blame your muchness
for his insufficiency
I never liked the idea
of putting my heart
in someone's hands
if you take mine away
I'll put it safely
into your chest
right next to yours
you'll either
fill out my emptiness
with your own heart
or feel mine breaking
my heart is not for rent
you crawled your way
into my heart
it became more crowded
than ever
so i emptied out
every bit of me
to make room for you
i should've anticipated
the hallowness
you'll leave behind
love
is like a fingerprint
we all have
our own unique way
of experiencing it
but the important thing is
we all do
seasons
you come at me
reinvigorating
like spring
make my love for you
blossom
_
you make me feel
safe
warm
like the perfect
summer night
_
then things
start to fall apart
and the cold winds
of autumn
start to settle
_
in the end
everything withers
and all I'm left with
is the winter's
icy loneliness
alone
I think
I've been on my own
for so long
loneliness crept
into my bones
made a home out
of my body
art
he made me
fill
blank pages
in seconds
you left me
speechless
i think it's because
with you
i don't feel
like the poet
i am the poetry
weakness
how come
i've always been so guarded
i've built the greatest walls
around my heart
decorated them with
thorns
dipped in poison
yet
they all crumbled
at your arrival
healing
the love I grew
for you
was settled in my bones
when you left
with each step you took
i felt them cracking
one by one
i think
my body was trying
to free itself
from you
dependency
my pieces
come together
with your touch
my bones
shatter
in your absence
hunger
you're full of
my love
while
i'm starving
for yours
