Scarlett’s mind always wandered when she walked and her body normally continued forward on autopilot, so she hadn’t realized she had stopped moving until the man spoke. The nephilim took a moment to glance at the shop window before addressing him, this way she didn’t sound like a complete fool.
"Really?" she tried her best to sound disappointed, "I could have sworn you stayed open later."
Clark gave her a once-over as if that could determine how much of a threat she was. “Yeah, weekends maybe.” He mumbled, fibbing obviously. He was standing off near the hours sign, so maybe the woman wouldn’t call him on it. He’d never really seen her in the cafe anyway, for all he knew she was lying as well. “I’m sorry, I didn’t really watch her name.” Christ, was it just him or was this atmosphere practically tangible?
Man this whole situation was awkward. She should have taken the long way home. "Oh, I must have gotten the times mixed up then." She winced at how rushed the words sounded . She had only been lying to get out of the situation and now she was stuck talking to this man. "I'm Scarlett." Scar extended her hand, "and you are?"
