someone on the DC subreddit pissing me off so bad posting, "people forget ivy is bi, which men would you want to see her date" like well personally i think the writing in her current series is ambiguous enough that you can interpret her as bi or lesbian and they've never confirmed either way. but like let's say she's 100% canonically bi, like can you name any other ongoing series at DC right now where the main character is a woman dating another woman? like i could be unaware of something but i genuinely cannot think of one outside of poison ivy & harley quinn's ongoings. like is bringing more attention to the men ivy could be dating really the battle we need to be fighting rn. and ofc they used a pic of her from the animated tv show (iykyk)

ivy falling in love with harley first and that love going functionally unrequited for a Hot Minute is one of the most important features of harlivy to me and i aaaalways feel its absence when its skipped out on. its literally so juicy for ivy to so earnestly deeply desperately want harley and just have to soak in that because loving harley and controlling harley are, in ivy's mind, oxymorons. she loves harley because she can't control her... she can't control harley because she loves her... and this goes on and on and on and poison "no one uses me like that" ivy willingly throws herself back in every time... and the idea on top of all this that harley knows basically the entire time that ivy loves her and she knows ivy will never burn that bridge for good and she maybe doesn't feel the same for a long time or just won't act on it but either way she relies. on that knowledge. for years. it saves her so many times. its her trump card. she doesn't and/or can't love ivy in that way but she needs ivy to love her or she would probably have died ten times over by the end of GCS. she keeps feeding it because it keeps her alive. and then she uses it one more time to try to push them apart permanently and ivy still. goes. back. because it keeps her alive too............................

also i think people forget that this is IVY's solo series. not a harlivy book. we can go an x amount of time without those two being joined at the hip. AND i say this as a harlivy fan.

like ok. it is pretty clear that dc the company does not like harlivy. like big corporations don't care about gay people, we know this. the fact they're only canon now is because of how much the audience loves them.

but literally the treatment they've gotten as characters has been atrocious. ivy spent literal DECADES in harley's shadow, as part of her supporting cast or as a fun little cameo or whatever.

i think it's ok if NOW (2022-2026), where there's been an ABUNDANCE of harlivy content, we can have one book that focuses primarily one ivy and secondarily on her romantic relationships.

and don't get me wrong, harley IS integral to ivy's character and will always be. but i think we needdddddd to stop complaining that gww is destroying harlivy because harley's not featured as much in this book 😭

is every writing choice in this book a good one? no, this book has had its low points (like every comic book that gets a long run) but i think gww has made it very clear in her writing that ivy LOVES harley and that's not going to change anytime soon.

i mean come on. when you literally have your very own oc (who's literally there to cover the harley void) call harley and ivy "soulmates", i think you're good bro 😭

its so embarrassing that it was done with hate in the heart and no forethought (or hindsight) but it accidentally implies genuinely fascinating things about ivy & her relationship to harley & to gotham at large so im forced to think about it forever
